Yeah, we're basically the Axis at this point. I mean, we're dealing with the kind of fanaticism that makes my nation look like the sane one, and we claim that we're god.

I suddenly have an urging to deal with the Viking planet, not because I want Viking shock troops like the others but because I want to do this.

Please don't apply JSDF propaganda anime to our Viking friends. It might bother them.

Tbh it was haremshit and JSDF propaganda, I rate 4/10 for the concept alone.

I prefer the more mobile kind of mechs like the ones from Blue Gender or the NEXTS from the Armoured Core 4/4A/5 universe.

There're also some from Mechwarriors/Battletech, especially the medium class of Bushwhackers and Madcats which promises speed. Also consider the concept from Front Mission, although those are kind of larger, but more versatile.

Tbh, I think the only real way to use mechs practically is as bulked up exoskeletons. Since otherwise, you hit one in the knee and it's fucking gone.

As I love the JSDF and everything it's armed with, it was enjoyable for me primarily for curbstomp battle scenes. Those who know me (none of you, sadly - my hiatus was long) would know of my fetish for heavy ordnance and mass firepower.

Relikai wrote:Just when I'm thinking of using this, this, or this. Cos versatility.

I use the Messiah, but only in fighter mode. I tend to prefer Star Wars-style walkers compared to humanoid mechas, though I do have some humanoid ones stolen from Patlabor and Code Geass (minus the funky leg-wheels).

Tbh the only animes I've watched that fall into the mecha genre are Evangelion, TTGL, and Code Geass, so I wouldn't know. Basically, what I'm thinking about is WH40K space marines but bigger.

I doubt it's so easy to hit a moving mech in the knee during a charge, or that they are so vulnerable to conventional weapons.

Value their versatility as heavy support in places where conventional armour could not traverse in, and the strategic mobility of mech units.

Looks wonky to me, and I considered them an annoying attempt to save on animation budget - no need to animate legs moving. I don't like them and prefer plodding footsteps.
