Ashkera has a pretty strong Consequentialist streak, which is reflected in the machinations of the mysterious and conspiratorial government. It's a nation that deliberately spreads conspiracy theories about itself in order to discredit disclosures of its actual operations, engages in the soft eugenics of paying certain people to have or not have children, genetically selects / engineers and then raises people as spies, and in one timeline maxed out the debt from Western financial markets and then deliberately crashed them prior to a war. It's supporting Fascists in a foreign civil war in order to slow global warming.

The Seventh Empire of Australia is a bit softer than that, but the dominant religion still centers around emulating a warrior-philosopher that planned to overthrow the heavens and bend all the forces of nature to her own whims rather than their own capricious and inhuman ones. The political parties have been replaced with think tanks that bet on the outcomes of their legislation, two thirds of every government service category is delivered by the competing grant-based Autonomous State Organizations, and the standing of bureaucrats is based in part on their "Credibility Score". There already factions within the government allocating resources to the takeover of the DEI as the probability mass in the prediction markets shifts to accommodate the new reality.

Yeah, this is like, the opposite of the plan. Think strategically, brah. The less opposition, the better.

From an IC perspective, doing something similar and backing Communist rebels in the DEI (while blaming it on Australia) costs less resources and makes it look like a petty colonial rebellion that Britannia wouldn't be bothered to engage in, while at the same time making it likely for Australia to commit to backing Malaysian Ultranationalists. This increases the costs for the Dutch dramatically, makes a Communist victory more likely than not interfering, and could result in a war between Australia and the Netherlands, which, regardless of whether the Netherlands goes to war with you, weakens them.

VOID's America is +Australia +China, but due to tensions between China and Australia it isn't clear how stable that is.

Rio de la Plata could either align with The Greater Oceania Joint Economic Development and Defense Initiative, with China, or with America, depending on its direction, how it feels about Communism, and whether it acknowledges the right of the peoples of the Dutch East Indies to self-determination.
