I'd say diseases were more likely to transmit from the Empire to the UN world than vice versa, seeing as the UN world hasn't had a plague-type disease in nearly a century. Further, the Empire would have plenty more species and thus a host of new forms of bacteria, much more diverse than in the UN's history. That said, the UN could handle such diseases, but not necessarily the party. That could be one advantage, should we take the story in that direction.

Also, the fantasy world has trolls and giants and elf invisibility. When applied properly, those three advantages alone would win the day in a direct confrontation.

I keep hearing bad things about this anime, but the premise just seems so awesome. What on earth did they do to mess it up?

A good premise does not a good anime make.

I watched the first few episodes and the problems were clear. Poor pacing (seriously, every scene takes longer than it needs to), generic cliched main character, lack of tension with the JSDF mowing everyone down at sight and just... everything feels uninteresting.

They took a great premise and did nothing with it. Which makes it even more insulting than the Asterisk War, because the latter never had a good premise to begin with.

Willem went to college at the age of 19, then gained a bachelors in medical sciences.

At the age of 23, he did basic army training, then moved up the ranks.

Due to his medical prowess, he became a combat medic, helping those who cannot fight on.

He did a few things against terrorism, but really stood around not doing much against any other conflicts.

Biography: Willem was born in the year 1983, and thus in 1983 his life started. He was a person who had a nice life. He was grateful for all things, and was kind as well. Though things weren't always the best, he still looked on. As an optimist and altruist, he would always think there was a better path to things. His father didn't serve in the war, nor did his mother, so he was the first military person there was in his family. At a young age, he cared towards those who were bullied or attacked at school. He'd always stand up for those who were the prey, and due to this he gained a strange reputation. Not of popularity, though not of hatred either. Because of this, he was ironically distanced, and thus for the majority of his middle school life, he was lonely.

He treasured his friends, due to not having many in the first place. Because of his care and background, he and his friends developed close relationships, but unfortunately as time moved on he and his friends had to part ways, and so he was lonely again. Innovation had made the world, to say, a smaller place, but not absolutely. He could still message or call his friends, but never really got the chances to meet them face-to-face. He ventured into the medical sciences. His personality and his ideas attributed to it, and over the years since he really didn't have much friends, he decided that he might as well just make the most of life as he could. He would give those who could not fight the fight of life one more strike before leaving the planet, the physical plane. And that he became.

He finished college at the age of 23, with a diploma in hand, but from there he didn't know where to go. He lurked around different places, but finally settled on a more unorthodox medical position. A combat medic. The strike at life, the dying breath, the comforting of someone before their due time, it was made for Willem. And so, at age 23, he joined the military as a combat medic.

Personality: Willem is kind, a fluent speaker in English and Dutch, believes life should be lived to the fullest, and loves a good drink. His sense of justice is fair, and one of the reasons he trained in the medical department was because he wanted those who could no longer strike at life, to be able to strike at it longer. Unfortunately, he is also sometimes reckless, brash, and may not be in line.

Likes: Justice, looking out for the weak, having a good time, alcohol, being sober, home.

Dislikes: Prejudice, cruelty, long and boring waits.

I guess if the natives are going to win at all, it'll be by making the war too costly for the Earth to stomach rather than actually being victorious in battles. For instance, if 100 soldiers were to be killed in a battle in which 1000 natives were slain, that would be the equivalent of a grand victory.

This assumes we'll eventually get civilian war correspondents.

Biography: Azjholiran was born from the Kazar Breeding Grounds in 1259. Immediately after he hatched from the egg, the Spiderlord who watched over Kazar, Ana'kreshna, can already see that he was gifted with magic powers; his eyes glowed with a blue flame, and whenever some harmful insects came near him, they froze up completely and died. After 15 years of living in Kazar, the magical powers began to manifest themselves in a less subtle way. That said, he froze a tunneling jurmongar(a big wormlike... creature) and it turned to solid ice. It was there Ana'kreshna revealed that he, was, indeed, gifted with magic, and he is the perfect Royal Vizier for the new Spider Emperor, Ashtardus. With that, Azjholiran was sent to the capital, Sapirius. The older Royal Viziers immediately began to train him to unlock and control his powers. After 6 long years, he has fully mastered his icy magic and was now an official Royal Vizier.

That done, he continued in his career of being a Royal Vizier for 5 more centuries. During those times, there was little to worry about; the Tuskars posed little threat, the Empire cannot penetrate the frozen north without its armies suffering from frostbite and ambushes, and the orcs were believed to be... dormant. But the old Oracle of Khazargoth said otherwise.

"Behold... I see the green tide, smashing through the gates of Sapirius. Many die; some flee; some remain."

During that time, the Spider Emperor was no longer Ashtardus, but rather, the foolish, idiotic Uraknor. For a fool like him, he only wanted to hear things that were sweet to the ears,and he had the old Oracle executed for irritating his ears. But the Royal Viziers and Spiderlords were disgusted, and began clandestine preparations for a mass emigration to the south. But their preparations came a little too late. After 5 months, the orc legions struck, and the Viziers and Spiderlords were caught in surprise; they thought that the prophecy would take place in a century or so. BEcause of this, out of the 50 Viziers, only 6 survived, including Azjholiran. 72% of the entire population of 15 million died, and half of the 400 Spiderlords were killed. But this did not happen in a course of hours; rather, it was a 10 year long siege. Slowly and slowly, orc raids and starvation took their toll. All entrances and exits were sealed, so there was no way out of the capital. The other subterranean cities have done likewise, and no help can ever come.

After these 10 years, the orcs finally charged into the city again. They found little resistance; most who were still alive were too starved to even fight. That was, until they reached the Viziers, who then unleashed their magics upon the orcish horde. In the process, the entire horde was eradicated, but all but 6 of the Viziers died as well. The surviving Spiderlords rallied all those who were still alive and migrated towards the south as planned. There, they never found a new home; eternally, they became endless wanderers in a foreign land. They were scattered amongst the Empire, allied nations, dwarves, everywhere.

In the midst of this, Azjholiran arrived near Italia. Here he must forge his own destiny. Here, he must survive.
Personality: Azjholiran is a traumatized and distrustful individual, especially after seeing all but 5 of the other royal viziers die at the hands of marauding orcs. However, despite it being very hard to foster his trust, one you do, he proves to be a reliable friend, err, ally. Because he has very few friends right now, he strives to keep them in his circle; he has simply lost too much.


Likes: Nice people, ice, freezing stuff, magic tomes, and the UN forces. They seem to be nice. Somewhat.
Dislikes: Orcs, expansionist kings and emperors, dragons, traitors of any kind
