I guess if the natives are going to win at all, it'll be by making the war too costly for the Earth to stomach rather than actually being victorious in battles. For instance, if 100 soldiers were to be killed in a battle in which 1000 natives were slain, that would be the equivalent of a grand victory.

Using a DU armour piercing discarding sabot round, the tank would have to withstand a minimum kinetic energy of 12.3 MJ.
For scale, a 1lb block of high explosive (think C-4) detonates with the explosive energy of about 2 MJ.

That's about 11 tons. An average car in the US weighs in at about 2 tons. An M1 Abrams tank weighs about 60 tons.

So...you'd have to sling a rock that is about 1/6th the weight of the Abrams tank in order to penetrate its armor. Now, crushing, on the other hand...is an entirely different calculation.

One that is FAR more complicated, mind you.

So...stick with magical attacks or lobbing firebombs through the command hatch.

The calculations are independent of point of contact.

And if you read my initial assumptions, you'll see that I was using a Depleted Uranium penetrator as my energy datum. Which makes that calculation for penetration.

Like I said, I didn't do it for crushing.
