May I ask if anything plans to play as such races like Night Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Leprechauns, High Elves, Ogres, Orcs and stuff?

Well that gets into the dangers of wish fulfillment characters and such. I'm making an educated suggestion for you to try to make this character separate from that. It'll do you good because it'll get you out to explore the realm of possibilities and such while keeping detachment from the character so that when something bad happens or someone insults them, you don't take it personally. Not saying you will, necessarily, but it's better to avoid situations like that altogether.

Unfortunately, I cannot. Fortunately, Borealis' actions will be based on what I read in all the posts.

Biography: Born in Trois-Rivières, Québec, to Benoît and Annette Arsenault, a francophone family with military ties stretching back generations, Césaire seemed destined to be a career soldier, though he would have to overcome several obstacles before that would come to pass. His mother died when he young, and he only learning to speak English in his teens when his family moved to the Maritimes to work at CFB Halifax - there his father would re-marry to a Nova Scotian named Amelia Mackenzie. In the years to come childhood friends would say Césaire had inherited many of the best traits from his father and step-mother, including a deep sense of military discipline and respect as well as a sincere care for the well-being of others.

He and his brothers eschewed the navy in favour of the army or, in the case of his eldest brother, the Montréal police service. Despite high grades and what his instructors deemed "officer material", Césaire chose to join the infantry and through what he would later jokingly refer to as "the worst damn luck of any new recruit", managed to find himself in the middle of the Siege of Sarajevo as a part of the Canadian UN Battalion in the Bosnian War. Following this bloody first deployment he seemed to gain a urge to be in the thick of Canadian overseas operations over following decades, refusing to rise above infantry section commander in the Pathfinders of A Company and garnering a reputation as one of the most experienced soldiers in the Royal 22e Régiment, and arguably among the entire Forces. On UN missions he became a bastion of cooperation between his commanding officers and the enlisted men, as well as between the peacekeeping forces and local populaces. For a brief time he even found himself transferred to the Canadian Special Operations Regiment, demonstrating an affinity for special forces operations - not many who know him know why he chose to transfer out of the Special Forces and back to the Van Doos, but theories range from a personal dispute with an officer to loyalty to his previous unit.

Making friends with other soldiers and officers came easily to him, though he seldom talked about his personal life and had a tendency to remain distant. His brother in the Montréal police struggled for many years with alcoholism after the death of a partner, while his youngest brother in the RCE was killed in Afghanistan after his LAV III was hit by an IED. Césaire was treated for depression and post-traumatic stress-disorder following his deployment to Bosnia, and has kept in touch with several former squadmates after learning of the suicide of his commanding officer in the Kosovo War.

His extensive knowledge of peacekeeping operations and ability to cooperate with civilian populaces, as well as his combat experience and proven ability to deal with unconventional or unpredictable situations, lead to him being chosen to be a part of the first wave into the Special Region. As always, he hides his worries and concerns behind a friendly demeanour and curiosity of what cultures will be found beyond the Gate.

Correct me if i am wrong, but are not USMC NCO's and above allowed to carry swords, not that anyone sane would do it. But it would be allowed

So, Borealis' allowed to bring a katana?

That's a no.

Swords in the modern day are used only for ceremonial purposes. The comic I put up is satirical, as is all the comics on that site (which are hilarious). Borealis' katana is not only not allowed to be carried while on deployment, but neither in the ceremonial purpose for which the swords are used as it is not a Marine regulation sword. Uniformity is the word of the day.

Unfortunately, I cannot. Fortunately, Borealis' actions will be based on what I read in all the posts.

That doesn't really make me feel any better, but as long as you can guarantee that you can separate your "author avatar" from yourself, fine. Don't let it become an issue.

I think I'm going to enjoy this. Terminal Lance references and dealing with the weirdest unconventional warfare/peacemaking scenario in the history of humankind. Here's hoping the second half doesn't drop virtually all of the interesting soldier characters and turn this RP into a disappointing magic girl harem like SOME THINGS I COULD NAME.

Also I'd like to vote to change Operation: Forward Unto Dawn to Operation: Ready to Blow Mordor to Hell, Sir! Both are probably catchier than UNAMSR or UNGATEFOR or some such.

There, he found a vein of molybdenum, and soon created a monopoly in the area and became quite rich. His pasttime was, and still is, astronomy and meteorology. When his lover died, he fell into grief, perhaps to madness (he believes that his wife still walks by his side on occasion). He set out to wander the forests of Unterritory in search of adventure.

Personality: Cynical bastard. Always assume there is a way around things; it is possible both to rush in and have a plan, so long as you are well-stocked. That said, always be ready for improvisation. There is no folly in that so long as you are keely aware and smart! Biography: A wandering mage keeps very few notes on where he has traveled. Very simply put, Chag was born in a fortress-city, known by it’s dwarven name, Bal’Madur. As a child, has was inherently gifted with magical powers. Such was discovered when, in an act that most young boys did, he did something most young boys did not. That is to say he accidentally caught the village maiden on fire, as it were. After this, he would bring himself to a period of celibacy, unless such time as he could control his powers.

This lead to a period of intense study. Chag would lock himself away in a small basement, pouring over endless scrolls of text from the library and sustaining himself with portions of salted beef. He would, in time, roam the land. A scholar, he would trade secrets and objects with dragons, eldritch beings of the forest, and the higher planes of orcs. With time, and through these sources of power, did he find his strength in magic.

Chag would, in time, come to the forests. There he would make a home, raising it from the earth with magic and holding it in it’s place. His home was a small one, perhaps, though in it did he create such knowledge. He would find the secrets planar beings knew, of teleportation and walking greater distances in strides. Through his magic did he, without his knowledge, gain such a long life, and through it has he prospered. Chag has, in his long career, taken lengths to keep himself hidden, yet has been contracted by a few to perform extensive duties.

Personality: Inquisitive, old, and powerful. Chag’Maragh is a proud wizard whose arrogance is small. He knows where he stands in the order of power, and knows when to treat a foe poorly and when to give respect to those whom are higher. He is not above trading power for power, secret for secret, and has a voracious appetite for knowledge. He wishes to extend himself farther and farther, for the sake of seeing how far he may go. To those who insult him, he gives little quarter, lest they have the station wherein they may insult with impunity.

I was just joking around in reference to Briggs' intro line, but this actually clears things up for me. I thought the UN mission in general was being called Forward Unto Dawn, and I was confused as to why the United Nations bureaucrats hadn't slapped a boring jumble of letters on it like they usually do instead of giving it something that captures the imagination.
