Be more flexible.

I'm a furry. I have a fursona named "Malkus". Simply because I have him and he's a fully developed character doesn't mean that it's the only character I've ever played. My current character's name is "Ranger". I've played Marcus, Martin, John, Luke, Benjamin, Clyde, Arianna, Tu'kat, Nupal, and so on.

Well that gets into the dangers of wish fulfillment characters and such. I'm making an educated suggestion for you to try to make this character separate from that. It'll do you good because it'll get you out to explore the realm of possibilities and such while keeping detachment from the character so that when something bad happens or someone insults them, you don't take it personally. Not saying you will, necessarily, but it's better to avoid situations like that altogether.

The katana seems very out of place like the SS uniform did. He's not going to be walking around with that even if it's an heirloom. No, especially if it's an heirloom. Katanas passed down from generations are very rare today thanks to MacArthur's disarming of Japan after WW2.

And to solve the issue of too many officers, a little OP executive order can change that real quick.

Correct me if i am wrong, but are not USMC NCO's and above allowed to carry swords, not that anyone sane would do it. But it would be allowed

If you play as a earth/UN character, you have to be a solder from a UN nation entering the special region via stockholm
as for the special region natives; go wild, it's a fantasy world
