Name: Yindy Vaares

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Species: Togruta

Appearance: Click

Homeworld: None

Affiliation: Resistance

Rank: Captain

Occupation: Starfighter Squadron leader

Biography: To say that Yindy was destined to be a pilot would be an understatement. She was born on board of an old freighter to a pair of smugglers. The first sound she ever heard was to low humming of the ships old hyperdrive and the first thing she saw, besides her mother, was the blue tunnel outside of a small window. And that was just the beginning of her rather uncommon childhood. Growing up on her parents ship she saw a cockpit just a few days after being born. She first touched the controls of a spaceship at the age of six and piloted her first starfighter when she was nine. She continued to live mostly on spaceships until she turned twelve and her parents decided to quit their lives as smugglers and settled down on the planet Telos. Yindy was everything but happy about this and soon she found herself extremely bored on the surface. She longed to break free from the shackles of its atmosphere. When she was sixteen she could no longer endure it. She left her parents a note explaining why she was doing what she was about to do, stole a starfighter from a spaceport near their home and flew away into the darkness of space. Finally she felt free again.

After about a week of aimless drifting through space her rations started to run out. A few more days and she would have starved in her ship, but by pure chance a pirate ship found her and took her on board. At first the pirates wanted to ransom her, but after she told the captain of the ship her story he was so amused by it that he allowed Yindy to join his crew.
Now a pirate she quickly got into her first fight in space. They attacked a medium sized freighter in the middle of an asteroid field. Their pray was guarded by a few spacefighters so the captain ordered his own fighters to take them out before they would board their target. For the other pirates this was a standard job but for Yindy it was a whole new and exiting world. The laser, the adrenaline and the feeling to shoot down her first foe put her into a form of ecstasy she had never experienced before, and she wanted more of it. And her life as a pirate would prove to provide er with plenty more of it. She soon outperformed everyone in the crew and secured herself the position as her captains second in command in less then a year.

Life was truly great for Yindy. But everything must come to an end, and one day the crews luck ran out when they got caught by a few ships of the First Order. And while the captain of the pirates wanted to make an epic last stand, Yindy and most of the rest of the fighter pilots decided that they were to young to die in a suicidal charge against their vastly superior foe. So Yindy grabbed her few belongings and jumped into her trusty old fighter. A few Tie fighter tried to stop her but Yindy easily outmanoeuvred them and shoot them down before she activated her hyperdrive and jumped away.

Alone again Yindy had no real idea what she was supposed to do now. But after some time she decided that she would try to get into the Republican Navy to still her lust for combat in a more official way. So she tried to enlist on the nearest planet. She was, however, rejected because she was deemed to unstable. Good thing there were more than one faction in the galaxy that needed pilots. So she tried to enlist in the navy of the First Order. This time she was rejected even faster, with the recruitment officer laughing at her and telling her that her head wouldn't even fit into the helmets the First Order used for their pilots.
Frustrated by this Yindy wanted to leave the planet, but when she tried to start her ship, it refused to work. And after she found out that kicking it and bashing against the controls would not bring it back to life, she just left it standing there and went into the next cantina. Several drinks later she noticed a poster advertising the Resistance and decided to try a last time to enlist somewhere before she would just steal a new ship and become a pirate again. And it turned out that the Resistance had no problems with her mental state or with the form of her head. So they accepted her, gave her a new ship and sent her to training. She didn't learn anything new during this training but at least it was over quickly.

So began her career in the Resistance. And with the Order sending a steady supply of fresh targets into space Yindy not only had the time of her life, but she also impressed her superiors enough to promote her to the rank of Captain and put her in charge of her own squadron only a few months after she had joined the Resistance. It was at this point that she started to paint small pictures of every enemy ship that she had shoot down onto her ship. And due to her skill her ship was soon painted from the tip to the engines with pictures of Tie-fighters, shuttles, a few corvettes and even a frigate was painted onto one of the wings. This quirk soon made Yindy known in the Resistance as a hero and amongst the pilots of the Order she was known as a gruesome foe with a thirst for blood, which was actually a pretty accurate description of her.

Other Info:
Equipment:

How do Chiss avoid the risk of ideological manipulation/molding when serving with organizations such as the Empire and The First Order, which are based on what seem to be fairly extreme views of governance and such? Also, why would a fledgling radical organization such as The First Order allow what would be considered "outsiders" to have so much control over military operations and possibly influence their subordinates with views not in line with the Orders rhetoric? I now Camicon details some of the treaties and such in their app but it still seems weird to me, more so when concerning the First Order, as it's more understandable that a Galactic Empire would partake in such a program.

Not criticizing or anything, just wondering.

Nice, well-detailed app and the Freighter is probably fine - I would like some numbers but if worst comes to worst we can use the stats from the Solo-class as a proxy. Accepted!

Do you want it as detailed as Camicons? Or do you want stuff such as armament, "other systems", and other basics?

Merit and skill are what comprise the order, the mission of the order is not only to restore the galactic presence that the First Order achieved, but more so to bring about a more pure form of the Empire. They recognize the failures, to a degree, and approach their governance in ways that compliment the Empire while improving it in other aspects.

To the Order, being an outsider has little to do with race or background, though individuals in the Order may hold a different view entirely. Overall, though admirals can have influence over lower levels of the army, the true force to keep them together is the mysterious Supreme Leader along with the Knights of Ren acting outside the ranks to maintain order.

Hmmm interesting, I was just going off what I saw of them in the movie. Though it still seems like a risque move for the Chiss to form such interwoven treaties with a very belligerent faction that could get them drawn into a galactic conflict. Unless they don't mind fighting the New Republic or any other sizable faction that the First Order picks a fight with.

But that's just my two cents on Chiss foreign policy.

The Chiss can avoid propaganda manipulation because they honestly don't care about the First Order - they serve for reasons of pure professionalism but they're derisive of non-Chiss. The First Order lets the Chiss in because they badly need experienced officers to counter the fact that the New Republic's been fighting a war for its entire life and has a lot of veterans and the Ascendancy is their next-door neighbour, and they'd be under the same regulations as regular Order officers, which are probably designed to curb the worst of cultural diffusion. And I don't think the First Order has such a pronounced anti-alien bias as the Empire - mainly because Wookiepedia lists Snoke as an alien and it would be odd for him to incite anti-alien sentiment in that case.

But for the most pat, it's because there's a cool character concept and a nice gap in Canon which can be filled with whatever sounds even vaguely plausible right now.

I operate on the principle that: "The more, the merrier" when it comes to stats, but basically just do however much you feel like doing. If you think something might be important, put it in and if we can use it at some point to do something cool, then I'm happy.
