Careful there. Normalizing Peña won't favor anyone. But yeah, pretty toned down for someone who screams about the Ten Commandments and says that an elected Senator is a 'stupid mudslinger.'

Normalizing?
Saying that what she said was 'not really offensive,' while not a direct normalization, may indeed lead to it. I'm really careful when it comes to stuff like that, seeing how a certain President-elect avoided essentially all criticism because of that.

Trump avoided criticism? That's news to me.

Trump was given SOME credit by certain media outlets (like CNN, for example) for basically "not being a jerk-off."
I wouldn't say he avoided all criticism, but he was (and still is) being a bit normalized to Tectonix's point (perhaps primarily due to media fatigue over his shenanigans).

The media fatigue is my point. He did get criticism, yes, but due to the overwhelming amount of things to criticize, it rapidly lost its luster and made any further attempts worthless. Therefore, they mainly stopped doing it, with CNN resorting to having the Clinton campaign manager less than 5 times on, and Conway on practically every day.

Keep in mind that CNN is practically resorting to just sensationalism to keep their ratings up at this point, not exactly genuine journalism. This is why it's pretty much 24/7 politics.

Well, their news article on climate change shows that journalism is still in there somewhere. I wouldn't say the case is completely lost.

I was primarily referring to television.![]()
Their online articles are actually pretty decent, but I can't tolerate CNN for any longer than, like, 20-30 minutes at most on TV these days. WAY too much rhetoric and same-old back-and-forth talking points. CNN gives me headaches.
