...Now to hope that the coloration stage helps cure me of my boredom. Oddly, coloring things in is relaxing. I suppose that's why they sell those enormous books full of weird patterns. 'Adult coloring books'. Yes, because no responsible adult would ever color anything other than random psychedelic stuff.

Abilities & Weaknesses:
Abilities - Gun Protrusion - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_Protrusion - Valeria's left arm ends in a metallic, non-ferrous alloy based cannon. The cannon can shoot 10 pulse charges a second. Damage is controllable by Valeria's willpower (can scrape paint off walls, to stun, to disrupt central nervous systems).

Weapon State - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Weapon_State - Valeria can also change the state of the shots she fires. While she normally fires pulse charges, she can make a defensive energy shield, a slashing shot, a targeted shot so that even if she isn't aiming at the target, it will hit; and a fiery shot (like a flamethrower).

Weapon Negation - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Weapon_Negation - Guns don't work against Valeria. (Grenades, stunners, knives and other handheld melee weapons still will).

Gun Manipulation - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_Manipulation - Valeria can control all guns around her in a 50 ft. radius. She can prevent them from firing, turn them against the firer and shoot, or disassemble them.

Increased Agility - Valeria is good at dodging enemy attacks she can see.


Bio: Valeria Nieves was forced by her brother into helping him smuggle drugs. At first she was a mule, and made several drops with her brother. After several months, she came under the attention of law enforcement and unwittingly led them to the lieutenants who oversaw the smuggling. A fight ensued, her brother was shot, and Valeria was captured. The ring was broken up, and Valeria was sentenced to juvenile detention. While in custody, Valeria was chosen to undergo a unique surgical experiment, fusing a pulse cannon into her physical frame. She not only found that she had a weapon now instead of a left hand, but also a shield, and had a means of changing its purpose. She also found herself immune to guns and more agile.

With her new weapon, she was deemed too unsafe for the normal juvenile centers. The Shadow Council was informed, and Valeria was sentenced to serve the rest of her term, or her life, whichever was shortest, at the Compound.

Personality: Reserved. Misses her brother. Has little respect for law enforcement, but also doesn't agree with drug lords.

If possible, I'd like the whole "entire facility above a massive cave system" thing to not be made known to characters for a while.

Could Nera's book be with Abel at the moment? Wouldn't make sense for it just to be at the ship.

So Krac, what's the deal with the book? I get that it's the only way for Nera to communicate, but is the book sentient? Can it write back? And if you wanted to talk to Nera, would you have to write in the book to do so or could you just talk to her?

It is grammar checking as an excuse to show her backstory. You can write in it since it can read that but not what she writes. It can also talk. If you wanted to talk to Nera she needs to gain your trust through the book since she does have a human form but will not appear out of her other form due to fear of possession and rejection.

well, depends how much they see below. They might not find any massive cave system, but still see some underground floor? Would that still work?

I mean, they'll be in the underground room just not know how deep the facility goes until later. They will get the chance to visit Abel when the plot demands it.

If we want to get technical, she's a maniac. That is, she suffers from manic symptoms. Pressured speech, elevated mood, flight of ideas, and distractibility.

Part of the fun of being a psych major is that I get to diagnose people's characters. I'm glad you chose mania; it's so much more fun then depression or anti-social personality disorder.

I can see that, but why should she have it, as i have said before i dont like unrelated powers, unless that character itself fleshes out the powers well enough.

Her powers are pretty much completely unrelated, but since the basis for her character idea was someone who literally seemed like a jumble of random things thrown together(despite the fact that I actually put a good deal of work into her), it makes sense! XD
