I know training gyms and such are below ground. Probably we could do stuff like wilderness survival aboveground.

Abel could build an awesome capture-the-flag arena. we should totally do that that sounds cool

well on the surface the world is much as it is now, underneath it is different, since the discovery of metas back in WW I, and the cold war meta fights, many smaller countries ahve teamed up unofficially, the only really changed country we have is britain as of right now i believe.

Controlling or atleast policing the metas of the world is the Shadow Council, which was formed after and event 30 or so years ago.

it is not too thick on alt-hist., but the big thing is the start of the shadow council. Basically some big violent fight between inexperienced Heroes and villains. The casualties were immense on both sides, and it was clear that there needed to be an organization to make sure this didn't happen again. Thus, the enigmatic Shadow Council came up and built a number of schools, supported by both heroes and villains to create metas with the skill to avoid such destruction. You have the Academy (free to learn), Institute (controlled, stricter learning), and the Compound (Military School-type near prison). You are dangerous or unstable to the point of needing constant surveillance and training. Of course, the purpose of the Compound is one of the more enigmatic of the three schools, and is most directly overseen by the Shadow Council (the other two more affiliated with the Council, run by groups set up by them). There is a little more alt-hist involving Britain, but everything else has been untouched.

Student Application
* = Optional
Character Name: Ellen Walker
*Superhero Name*: -none yet-
Nationality/Place of Origin: Melbourne, Australia
Hero/Villain/Not Sure: Hero
Affiliations: none
Age: 17
Gender: female
Appearance: hyah
Abilities & Weaknesses: Intuitive Kinetic Perception

Within a certain radius around her, Ellen is instantly aware of any and all movement and can intuitively make use of this information. Her sense is precise enough to detect the movement of individual muscles or even projectiles like bullets and she can accurately predict the trajectories of any object within her radius. Her awareness also extends to her own body, she's intuitively aware of how her own muscles move and what the most efficient way to achieve what she wants would be, this makes he ran incredibly fast learner of physical skills, with a few minutes to experiment she can work out how to produce the exact movements she want to have the desired effect. Ellen can achieve professional level competency at things like sports, weapons handling, martial arts in a matter of minutes. This rapid learning doesn't apply to non physical or non tactile learning, she wouldn't be any faster than anyone else at learning say, chess or computer programming.

Ellen's ability also enhances her emotional intelligence, she can precisely log tiny changes in people's expressions or bearing and determine things like their emotional state or if they are lying, her awareness and control of her own expression allows her to project emotions extremely convincingly. Ellen can also convincingly mimic accents and other people's voices by altering the movement of her vocal cords, although she can get tripped up by word choice or grammar.

The radius Ellen can sense things in is determined by her state, physical exertion, mental stress and other stressors can shrink it down to about two metres but the less active and more composed she is the wider its is, it peaks at about 100 metres if she enters a kind of meditative trance.

Weaknesses

Ellen is essentially a human and has all the weaknesses tied up in it. Her physical conditioning is excellent, as good as a 17 year old could reasonably manage but it isn't superhuman or anything, her abilities tend to degrade as she runs out of stamina. Ellen's ability is also reliant on her senses to some extent, while it's not technically dependant on any one sense it only functions at peak efficiency if all of her sense are working, removing one or more will lower her radius and precision notably, if all five senses are blocked in some way her ability won't work at all. Ellen finds this sensation incredibly distressing and interfering with three or more sense is enough to send her into panic attacks, in relation to this, she has a pretty serious fear of the dark.

Bio: Born to a sprawling, low income family in one of Melbourne's less fortunate suburbs, Ellen almost immediately distinguished herself from her siblings. In her early months Ellen rocketed through developmental milestones, at least those relating to movement, she was crawling by her first month and walking confidently by the second. Although her speech and mental faculties didn't develop at the same pace, Ellen was nevertheless a precocious child, exploring the house pretty much at will and getting herself into trouble at an incredible rate. It was obvious by age two or three, when Ellen began demonstrating the ability to catch tennis balls with her eyes closed that she had some kind of super power.

Ellen's parents were surprised obviously, but it also seemed like an opportunity if they could make sure her power was never noticed, teach her to act like she was simply a talented but otherwise normal person than she could bring the family a lot of desperately needed income, she could easily go pro at almost any sport she wanted. So Ellen's life continued, her parents and family desperately trying to teach her to hold back, conceal her ability wherever possible all the while spending what money they could spare on various sports, tennis, basketball, soccer. Ellen tried, mastered and quickly lost interest in all of them. They were too easy, no matter how complex the skills she was learning she picked them up in minutes, she could barely comprehend how anyone could find something so simple engaging.

The sport that finally captured Ellen was MMA. True it wasn't necessarily more complex that other sports she had tried, but it was more unpredictable, every new opponent brought a new style, new moves to anticipate and counter and against older opponents her size and strength was enough of a handicap to make things exciting. Ellen's parents were a little reluctant to support her choice but by this time the attention they had showered upon her had probably spoiled her a bit and she put her foot down, it was MMA or nothing, her parents consoled themselves with that fact that although their wasn't much early money to be made the sport was growing quickly and, in time their efforts would eventually pay dividends and it did pay dividends, sooner than they expected.

All through her teens Ellen rocketed though amateur leagues and tournaments, growing steadily and becoming something of a local celebrity. What she didn't know was that her parents had already started to cash in on her success by placing underground bets on some of her matches. That might have been all well and good, Ellen won all of her matches after all, but the sudden influx of cash reignited an old vice of her Father's. Gambling. Thanks to a poor credit rating Ellen's father had been forced to borrow the money he bet on her from some rather unsavoury characters and after she won, rather than pay them back immediately he'd gambled on other things, horse racing mainly and lost. On the eve of Ellen's first professional match she was confronted by some gangsters in the locker room who explained patiently that her Father owed them rather a lot of money and that she needed to throw her match to help them out with some financial arrangements.

Ellen instead kicked the crap out of three fully grown gangsters and then went on to win her match, explaining to their prone forms that of her dad really owed them money than she'd pay them back with winnings. Needless to say that attitude didn't go over very well and when Ellen came home one of her siblings, her youngest sister was simply gone, the only clue was a hastily scrawled note left in her that read "Lose the next one." Ellen snapped. Her family had always showered her with attention and pinned their hops on her, she'd grown used to thinking of herself as someone to be relied on, someone who looked after and protected her family and now her sister was in danger because of her.

What happened next is not completely understood, but the story can be pieced together from three police reports that occurred subsequently on that night. The first report was a domestic disturbance at the Walker residence, neighbours reported shouting and thumps but when the police arrived they found only Francis Walker, Ellen's father holding a broken nose and insisting that he'd fallen down the stairs. Of their single storey home. The second report came from Mick's Place, a nearby dive bar and well known locus of local organised crime. The bar looked like a tiny hurricane had entered it and dazed patrons reported a slight figure in a hoodie and tracksuit pants somehow taking down several hardened gangsters and then questioning them intensely, making creative use of broken glass and joint lock techniques to overcome their initial reluctance.

The final police report tied to the incident that night came from 23 Membery drive, an out of the way address that was eventually tied to a shell company for the local mob. Neighbours reported gunshots and screaming and when police arrived they found two girls covered in blood, one about seventeen and one much younger and three dead bodies with bullet wounds dead centre in the middle of their foreheads, the ballistics matching the handgun still clutched tightly in the hand of the older girl. Needless to say Ellen was arrested and charged with murder but an agent of the Shadow Council swooped in and organised for Ellen to be sent ot the compound instead, having pieced together the gist of her abilities by watching footage of her matches and studying the crime scenes.

Personality: Outgoing, loud and confident, Ellen can come off as arrogant sometimes but confidence is almost hypnotic and she exudes seemingly genuine warmth, she likes being the centre of attention and taking control of situations, people tend to get caught up by her and she's a genuinely good friend, who looks out for people and supports them, being reliable is something she values in herself and others, Ellen hates bullies or needless cruelty and often find herself sticking her nose in other people's affairs to help them . This is to some extent a front, Ellen is extremely good at concealing her emotions and dislikes having people worry about her. She's traumatised by the blood on her hands and desperately misses her family, while wondering if they think she's a coldblooded monster. Ellen has never actually been very good at confronting her own emotions or issues, she buries them by focusing on external things and other people, she can't conceive of herself as being someone who both helps others and desperately needs help herself and would rather be the former so she simply buries her own issues. Ellen's seemingly indomitable outer self masks a fragile and tormented inner self.

* = Optional
Character Name: Valeria Nieves
*Superhero Name*: (Required for established Metas) The Marauder
Nationality/Place of Origin: (Where is the character from, can be anywhere around the world.) Guadalajara, Mexico
Hero/Villain/Not Sure: More scrupulous kind of hero than villain.
Affiliations: (Shadow Council/Otherwise, nothing else aside form those choices unless you tg me first.) None
Age (Between 13 and 19): 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=ht ... mrc&uact=8

Abilities & Weaknesses:
Abilities - Gun Protrusion - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_Protrusion - Valeria's left arm ends in a metallic, non-ferrous alloy based cannon. The cannon can shoot 10 pulse charges a second. Damage is controllable by Valeria's willpower (can scrape paint off walls, to stun, to disrupt central nervous systems).

Weapon State - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Weapon_State - Valeria can also change the state of the shots she fires. While she normally fires pulse charges, she can make a defensive energy shield, a slashing shot, a targeted shot so that even if she isn't aiming at the target, it will hit; and a fiery shot (like a flamethrower).

Weapon Negation - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Weapon_Negation - Guns don't work against Valeria. (Grenades, stunners, knives and other handheld melee weapons still will).

Gun Manipulation - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Gun_Manipulation - Valeria can control all guns around her in a 50 ft. radius. She can prevent them from firing, turn them against the firer and shoot, or disassemble them.

Increased Agility - Valeria is good at dodging enemy attacks she can see.

Bio: Valeria Nieves was forced by her brother into helping him smuggle drugs. At first she was a mule, and made several drops with her brother. After several months, she came under the attention of law enforcement and unwittingly led them to the lieutenants who oversaw the smuggling. A fight ensued, her brother was shot, and Valeria was captured. The ring was broken up, and Valeria was sentenced to juvenile detention. While in custody, Valeria was chosen to undergo a unique surgical experiment, fusing a pulse cannon into her physical frame. She not only found that she had a weapon now instead of a left hand, but also a shield, and had a means of changing its purpose. She also found herself immune to guns and more agile.

With her new weapon, she was deemed too unsafe for the normal juvenile centers. The Shadow Council was informed, and Valeria was sentenced to serve the rest of her term, or her life, whichever was shortest, at the Compound.

Personality: Reserved. Misses her brother. Has little respect for law enforcement, but also doesn't agree with drug lords.
RP Sample: (Typed or links) - You've seen how I write for Charlie Meschke.
*Likes/Dislikes*:
Likes - People who won't look at her past and automatically think they know her; hot weather
Dislikes - Pushy people; people who want to know too much about her past, for which she is ashamed; people who jump to assumptions; cold weather
*Reasons to be sent*: (Why are they at the Compound what did they do, put N/A if detailed in the Bio portion) See bio
*Additional Notes*: None
*Voice actor*: None

Yep, Danni is totally going to have to talk with Patchwork soon, either they'll get on really well, or really badly. Either way, should be fun.
