Aye, but it doesn't affect me. I'm sure the America players care since you're on the same landmass but since I'm across the pond it doesn't really concern me. Until some invention happens I'll mostly be skipping American posts unless they want a trade deal or something with me.

Same thing I do with your fucking around, really.

I don't know why you're getting so mad about this. I don't really mind, it's not like I'm going to do anything that will effect California, unless you guys use the Suez Canal and I have stop trade there for a bit.

I'm not mad, just saying that I basically do the same thing you're doing. For the 1890s, the New and Old worlds have a surprisingly small amount of things done together.

So, Iberia hasn't gotten back to me on it, but I see that he has no mention of Cuba in his app. I have a semi-plausible (as much as one can with this sort of alt-history RP) reason for their union, and I'd like to add it to my original claim. Any issues with that?

Formal/Full Nation Name: The United Republics of Haiti and Cuba
Informal/Simple Nation Name: Cuba, Haiti, Hispaniola
National Flag:

Government Type: Presidential Republic (Based on that of the former United States)
Head of State & Head of Government: President Manuel Del Rio

Map: Can't make one on my computer, I'm afraid, but I'd like to lay claim to the current territories of Haiti, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic
Population: 2,500,000
Military Population: [Not to Exceed 2% of Population] 45,000
History of Nation:
The fight for independence against the French that began in 1791 was a brutal one. Guerrilla warfare, rioting, military reprisals devastated the former "Pearl of the Antilles." The war lasted until 1804, as in our timeline. The revolution was aided by Georgian troops and arms, causing there to be a united Republic (that of the Free Republic of Haiti) controlling all of the former colony, instead of a split between a kingdom in the north and a republic in the south. This was initially under under President Alexandre Pétion, along with an elected Parliament, many of whom were military officers at the time. Uniting his nation, he managed to keep the country from falling into shambles by maintaining the rights of whites and preventing uncivilized reprisals, instead opting for a land confiscation sytem of the largest slave owners, and civilized trial for the rest. Still many white elites were executed for the brutality against their slaves. The nation was reorganized, and began to form a viable economy. The country prospered, however humbly. In 1821, the second President Jean-Pierre Boyer, supported by elements in the fledgling Dominican Republic, marched across the border, and united the two nations as one as the Free Republic of Haiti. Boyer, limited by a stronger and more moderate national Parliament, was prevented from instituting many of the discriminatory reforms against lower class citizens and whites. In addition, Boyer made peace with the French, in order to allow the economy to prosper, and paid reparations to the French for the loss of French property (These ties have largely been severed after the socialist revolution in France). Boyer left office after his second five year term, succeed by the more moderate President Manuel del Rio. Del Rio, while not as passionately beloved as his predecessor, was still important. He made smooth the transition of this still divided new territory a surprisingly smooth one. While still freeing slaves and confiscating land from white elites, and punishing the more extreme among them, he managed to maintain the balance of power, while limiting the power of the white upper class. The years following were calm and marked by peace and steady economic prosperity as land was distributed, and the military improved thanks to foreign advisers. . The next major occurrence in the history of the Free Republics was the Cuban revolution of 1868. Haiti has long secretly supported freedom for their fellow slaves in Cuba, and this was the perfect opportunity. Supporting the cause of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, who advocated for a union of the two colonies in this timeline. Supported by freed slaves and moderate former planters in Cuba, the Haitian Army, small but well trained, along with support from a small naval contingent, managed to force the Spanish to surrender. Signing a treaty in Havana, the three parties agreed to an independent Cuba, with sizable Spanish economic concessions in both Cuba and Haiti. The three parted on good terms. Under a new constitution, sighed in Port-Au-Prince, slavery was done away with in Cuba (instituting the same land distribution-concession system with the white elites) and the United Republics of Haiti and Cuba was born. The capital is still in Port-Au-Prince, though the economic capital in undoubtedly in Havana.

RP Sample:
The sun set behind the sea as the last of the enemy ships turned in retreat, making its way into the distance. Terrence breathed a sigh of relief as the men manning this beleaguered naval fort, his men, let out a cheer of triumph. Victory, it seemed, was theirs. "Alright, lads. Settle down there, we'll need to get to whatever repairs are needed before sundown." He said in that authoritative but reasonable tone of his.

The eye-patch wearing man next to him, Lieutenant Riggs, laughed. "Aw, come on now sir. Ain't everyday the Empire beats the damn pirate flagship, eh?" He said this loudly, and another cheer went up from the men. Terrance allowed himself a small smile. "Fair enough. Just put those fires out, and then we'll drink. To the Empire!"

"TO THE EMPIRE!" His men cheered, and the commander felt his smile grow slightly.

If you don't have an RP sample at the ready, make one from scratch.

History of Nation:
1866-The End of the Union and the Birth of the Republic

When the United States was destroyed by constant war it left many people with no Government to speak of. The once provinces of Dakota now became lawless land where no order was seen by a government. Local power was the only thing keeping a some what stable condition on the lands of Washington, Montana, North and South Dakota. These small government used what ever power to keep control. This however changed soon as a man with a dream returned from war to his home, Issac Towner once in charge of the Union's 117th Infantry regiment one made up from soldiers from Montana returned to his small farm in Paradise valley he saw what had become of his homeland. Many veterans returned home with similar feelings. Issac met with his officers that he severed with and declared that with the death of the union something must be done to save America from tyranny and if not that at the very least their home. The officers agreed with Issac, they tour off the U.S badges that they had sown on their uniforms and replaced it a new U.R.A badge the Federal Republic of America. They made contact with everyone in the regiment and tried to form a militia to take control of the local governments. On the 17th of September 1886, Issac Towner and his now 1st Republican Guard regiment marched into Helena the capital of the Montana local Government, they took control of town hall before Towner dispatched different Battalions to different parts of the state. After two weeks the 1st Republican guard was in control of much of Montana, it was then that Issac Towner established the Federal Republic of America officially and proclaimed it in Montana. Soon he sent dispatches to the surrounding local governments that where not under control of Superior and the California, it simply read "The Union is dead, you follow it and lead to your own death or you join the United Republic." The message was simple surrender or be crushed. With the 1st Republic Guard the only fighting force big enough to actually win fights many people surrendered to the Federal Republic. By 1867 much of America's former North-Western lands where now under the control of Issac Towner and the United Republic.

1867-1869- The Nursing of the Republic

January 1867 was the year of the Republic's founding officially. It was when the constitution was first created and the first election was held. The Constitution of the United Republic was pretty different from that of the United States. Issac Towner realized that the problem with the old Republic was that states held too much power and as such he using his power de facto leader of the Republic to abolish the states system that had been in place and replace it with much smaller distracts of the Republic. These districts could not have different laws, could not raise any force of any kind that can be used solely for the district but most importantly all decisions made by the Central Republic could not be overturned not matter what the case. The "New Republic of America" as it was being called also changed a lot of laws such as the right to bear arms was destroyed by the new Constitution and the equal treatment of all men before the republic and the law became one of the most important factors in the new Constitution. During this time was new political parties being established throughout the new Republic with 4 attracting the most support from people, they where The Socialist Party, The Liberal Republican party, The Eagle league and The National Democratic party. The results of the first election was the Eagle League won by a clear majority which gave them control of the house and the seat of President. The Eagle League main goals where to establish a better Republic and a stronger republic both Military power and economic power. They spent a lot of money on developing a new massive port in Seattle which they later renamed to Nova Venice, this would enable the Republic to have a center of Trade in which they can export and import goods from around world. This paid off as they where now able to offer a direct route with the Far east and enabled them fast trade with Chinese, Japanese and Indian empires.

1870- A Golden dawn

Hey, if you're working on the map, could you make these corrections?? Indiana was cut off in the official map and Isle Royale was American (so should be mine).

I plan on adding accepted nations to the accepted list tomorrow. If Varra's doing the map, I'll add his updated map to the OP when it's done.

California has something unheard of in this RP: rational socialists. Go ahead, call it an oxymoron all you want. I still have them.
