You are far away, but you have ports facing us which permit us to have our informant network there so that we can learn about others. They aren't there to spy on just you. Mostly to keep tabs on the entire continent, you are just the lucky country that gets to play host to a mass of chinese immigrants.

I don't think it's lucky, California's just the easiest port to get to from Shanghai or Tianjin.
