2) Sleep = unconscious. The third form is only when unconscious.

I doubt that the Guides are affected by the emotions of the Guided, but rather are simply aware of them and vice versa, ie "I know you're angry and all...", or perhaps "Wow, you're really hungry right now, huh." Alternatively, they are affected, and pissing off a Guided human with a combat oriented Guide like Akhenbek would basically cause serious pain to the offender.

Basically, it's all up to Faal.
