Faal has not stated that we must maintain the same size as our animal forms typically hold. It's entirely possible that we can shrink and grow them; however, don't take my word for it.

No I didn't. But, there will be no shrinking or growing in animal forms. Bai's animal form is Elephant, but it isn't specified what species. He could be a Borneo Elephant though.
