New York City
Battery Park City
North Cove Yacht Harbour
Hank McFarr

Hank was on his usual moening jogging tour, leading him up and down the Battery Park. Why was he doing that? Well, because his wife literally is a housedragon and said that he was getting too fat and should get off his lazy ass to get some training and loose some pounds. And of course Hank heeded her advice. Not like he had a choice anyways.

But this time something would go horribly wrong. Something would enter Hank's life that would leave a permanent mark on before mentioned life. And that although everything started rather harmless. When he jogged along the basin of the North Cove Yacht Harbour, there was a group of youngsters hanging out. Once he came in sight of them, they quickly started pointing fingers at him and laughing. He did look pretty funny though with his little belly and his beginning bald head, jogging and sweating. Now, of course the youth of today just couldn't leave it at ridiculing him, no, one of them ran up to him and before he could react he was pushed into the basin. After the initial shock Hank was filled with anger which got even greater when he heard the laughter of these boys up above.

"Oh, you're gonna pay for this you little dumbfucks..."

, he thought in rage. But that rage was very short lived for he suddenly felt something touching his leg. And if his feeling hadn't berayed him, it had felt an awful lot like fingers. But the range quickly returned for he thought it was probably these youngsters diving below him and trying to pick on him a little more. Well, they were going to get a bad surprise he thought before he dived down, trying to get whoever was down there.

Now guess what, he found whoever was down there pretty quickly. However, he only saw the man as a shadow and it felt pretty awkward because the guy didn't seem to be moving much at all. But he was so enraged that he quickly swam closer and grabbed the mans arm which was floating upwards and was probably the thing that touched his leg. However, when he pulled at the arm, the body didn't come closer at all. There was some sor of resistance holding him back. But what happened instead was that the body turned around, showing Hank the face of the man. And oh boy was poor Hank shocked.

The man he had found was staring at him without blinking and any life in his gaze. And his mouth was wide open. And no air bubbles came out of there. But the most shocking thing to Hank was the terrible wound that the man had. His chin, his throat his chest and his stomach looked like something had burned through there.

And all can guess what happened. Police was called and arrived quickly. They managed to pull the body out of the river. His feet had been tied to a barrel filled with stones hence why he had been floating in the water and Hank hadn't managed to pull him out. He died by having acid poured down his throat. The man was also quickly identified by his clothing. The style of clothing and other equipment on the body of the man marched with the clothing of the men who had attacked the police station in Little Italy. Supporting the fact that he belonged to them was the time of death. The team found out that he had died on the very same day, only hours after the attack occurred. Once they found this out, both the NYMD and the Knights were informed of the case.

Also, the poor victim held something in his hand, it being tightly clenched around it. Once the hand was opened, the investigators found a piece of an umbrella which he had probably ripped off in his final struggle. And sawed onto this piece of umbrella was...a little tag stating where this umbrella had been produced and sold...and it was a small shop in Sunset Park.

Elinor’s day was almost unbearably mundane. She got up, ate, went to work, got a drink with friends, went home, cooked dinner, and slept. Like clockwork. It was almost like she had directly designed her life to be as normal and boring as humanly possible.

There were only two details of her routine that stood out as strange. The first was her weekly therapist sessions each Friday after work. It lasted for nearly three hours and although Alice didn’t know exactly what was going on in there she could make an educated guess based on Elinor's past. The second was the bi-week PTSD meetings she had to at a recreation center across town. There she along with a dozen rape victims and veterans worked together through their issues and achieve some level of normalcy.

So when she saw the phone her face twisted into a mix of sadness and despair. She almost considered throwing the phone away or destroying it. She was halfway sure it was a trap. But the more she thought about it the more she began to see an opportunity. A chance to put her therapy into action and overcome her trauma. So she waited after spending an entire night doing her mental exercises and preparing herself. This was the moment she started fighting back against the fear and the isolation.

When midnight struck she flipped the phone on and waited.

At exactly 00:01 the phone rang, the voice on the far end of the line was distorted, sounding a little like a female Darth Vader... "Don't speak just yet. We have to be fast and we have to be clever if we are going to lose your tail. Come to the Great Lawn in the middle of Central Park straight away. You'll find a bag there containing a change of clothes and another cellphone. There is a number saved into it. Once you are changed, call it and I will give you further instructions... listen, I know you have questions and I'll try to answer them now, but if we don't move sort-of quickly, then they'll manage to track my number and, from that, find where I am."

Alice was, perhaps, showing the level of paranoia usually associated with people who wear tinfoil hats to keep the aliens away, but she knew Elinor was being watched, which probably meant there were bugs in her flat, possibly even tracking devices on her clothing. Every precaution had to be taken if she were to successfully extract the other woman from the watchful eye of her Government.

Frogs and Snakes
Andrews shot struck the toad and plinked off its twisted flesh as the creature turned to look at him. It hurled Dez across the street towards a nearby lamppost as it began to flounder and hopped towards the snake man. Croaking and bleating like some hellion of the blackest pits of nights the frog's limbs twisted and turned, knotting themselves and splintering but never breaking as it shambled towards the two knights.

Crimson mover forward into the way to protect Snake Eyes and immediately began grappling with the terrible creature. The two inhuman monsters struggled to grasp each other. One was a withering mass of red fungoid vines all budding and fusing into a massive system of nervous tissue trying to act as a noose. The other was a vague amphibian creature with slimy coarse skin that reek of swamp water, its limps a constant whirly gig of motion and undulation. It was a disgusting sight as the two tried to wring each others neck.

But eventually Crimson was successful owning to his more malleable body and liquid form. However, when he peeled himself off the toads melting corpse, he was unable to stand up properly. So much of his body had been covered and consumed by the acid and the creature’s massive gullet that he was nearly half the size he had been before. Meekly he meeped out a pleading cry to Andrew before collapsing inertly.

A gang of freaks

“Why,” Elinor said simply. “Your some stranger who snuck a phone into my grocery bag. Now you're telling me to come to a deserted park in the middle of night. If I don’t get mugged on the way to you then how do I know you won’t rob me blind.”

She crossed her arms and snarled her lips. “If I have a tail then it would be safer for me to call the cops. Not some person whose sneaking phones into my bags and using a machine to mask their voice. If you wanted to go out of your way to look like a criminal trying to abduct someone you’ve succeeded. Why don’t you drop the act and tell me what you really want before I call the cops.”

"Actually... that's a good point." the voice answered, "I have a dossier on you that I stole from a police station. You may or you may not decide to believe me but I would suggest it is at least worth your time to check it out. I'm not sure if the people tailing you are police or some other branch of the Government, but they are watching you. Sooner or later you'll be approached with an offer you cannot refuse or made to disappear somewhere depending upon whether they think you'll be more useful as a State-sanctioned killer or if you're too much of a threat."

"I am the third option. Come and meet with me. If you decide I'm a nutter, walk away. I doubt I could stop you, according to what I have read you have some pretty impressive powers. I am going to have to ask you to make a decision soon though. We have to assume that, as it is the Government watching you, they, effectively, have infinite resources. I suspect your flat is bugged so if you want to meet me without getting pounced on by men in dark suits, now would be the time to do it."

A few hours later, Johanna was on the scene.

First, Carly had gotten the forensic analysis of the body, then the information over the scene of the crime, thankfully, Johanna never even had to move due to her ability to see through people's eyes.
And given she still had good friend in the non-meta side of the police, she got a rather clear picture of what was on the scene of the crime, the body and even the witness's testimony.

Now, Johanna, after getting briefed, stood in front of the shop.
The outside of the shop didn't look like much, pretty much like anyone would expect someone making umbrellas and holding a shop to have in the front of their shop.
Umbrellas, umbrellas, all of them having some difference either in color, size, width or wood quality regarding their handles.

She stood outside for a moment, wondering if anyone else was going to come.

'What are you waiting for? Get in, no one's on the way yet.

"Alright, alright, I was just wondering, call for backup if anything happens though.
I don't want anyone to think I just make a mess of everything once shit hits the fan."

'Don't worry about that, just get in, and scout the place up.
Maybe try to get leads from the shop's tenant or something.'

"Alright, I can do that." With that, she entered.

Andrew Marks AKA Snake Eyes

Andrew watched frightfully as he watched the frog monster hop towards him through Rango's eyes. He preapred himself for fight, but the Crimson came to protect him and fought the creature himself. Snake Eyes watched as the red mass of fungus tred strangling the gaint amphibain and began to cheer him on. However, once the frog monster was down, Andrew watched in horror as he saw the damged Crimson had suffered in the fight and ran towards him once he was down on the ground. "Gah!" he yelped in uncertianty as he tried holding Crimson in his arms, "Someone... Dez, help me! I don't know what to do! We need to get him back to HQ ASSSAP!"

Adrien wasn't sure what had happened before he woke up. All he knew was that he had landed on a lamp post, bending it almost completely to the ground, and that he had also reverted back to his normal form.

He also seemed to have a rather copious amount of blood leaking from his mouth, but that was a secondary concern.

His main concern right now was that he heard the snake guy shouting, and it sounded like the other guy who was with him, the red one, was in trouble.

"Yeah, alright, I'm here..." Adrien mumbled, before ending down and lifting the now drastically smaller form of the red guy, coughing up some more blood in the process.

"Now..." He said, doing his best to not fall over from lightheadedness, as that might injure Red. "So where are we taking Red here? Because we might want to do it fast."

She had barely ever used her powers, she remembered exactly how to, but she didn’t want this ability. Still others needed to look at her like some kind of bomb.

Putting on a hoodie and grabbing a can of Mace she went out and climbed on the bus heading towards central park. She wasn’t as nervous as some of the girls in her groups but she could feel her heart racing and tried to walk through the steps her therapist had taught her. It wasn’t long before she got off and began walking slowly through the park to the place they had agreed on. She hung back a bit and watched the spot for a moment to ensure there were any strange men lurking in nearby bushes.

New York City
Sunset Park
Small Umbrella Shop
Aarav Chandran

It had been a normal day for Aarav so far. Which basically meant that it was pretty damn quiet around his shop. No customers were there so he basically spent his time sitting behind the counter and absentmindedly finishing some work on some umbrellas. Just like he did everyday. Customers really were rare. People often had little reason to visit a shop specialized on umbrellas. Besides, any supermarket sold cheap and low quality umbrellas. He should've closed the store years ago, seeing how little profits he made but he just couldn't do it. This was the shop that his father had opened 40 years ago when he had immigrated to the US. It was a family business and just letting go of something run by the family for the last 40 years was truly difficult to do. He just couldn't do it emotionally. And thus he was stuck with a low income and a shop that rarely had customers.

Speaking of that, suddenly the doorbell rang. A customer! The speed with which Aarav put away the umbrellas he had been working on and hurried to the door was truly astonishing. With a broad smile he came towards Johanna. He looked like a regular indian man in his late twenties or early thirties. With a friendly voice dripping of helpfulness he asked:

"May I help you Mrs...?"

"Wyvill. But call me Johanna." She answered quickly, with the same broad smile.
For a moment however, she wondered if she should be cruel and simply state that she was from the NYMD, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.
Plus, the umbrellas weren't that bad either, she could always use one.

"Well, I was wondering what kind of umbrella you would recommend for someone like me.
I have heard from some friends that you make good quality ones, so I thought I should jump on the bandwagon." She continued, pointing at herself, as she was still wearing her armor. Having no other change of clothes was obviously a non issue concerning her, although sometimes she thought it could be interesting to have some casual clothes.

Alice's suggested location was about as open as you could get. It was the kind of location a truly paranoid person would pick where they could watch all approaches without too much trouble. Alice was not a particularly imposing figure, short, slim and a little nervous looking. She had also gone for the dark hoodie. She looked very exposed out in the field, though there was a slight, barely perceptible shimmer in the air as she paced around restlessly, occasionally glancing at her watch. Most people wouldn't notice it, though for those who did, it looked like there was something solid there, just out of sight...

Frog Attack!

There was a flash of red light and suddenly a mass of red dripping Fungus was striding towards Dez and Snake Eyes. The smell of wet detritus and decaying electricity filled the air as NUMB moved to tower over the two and inspect Crimson. “You’re taking him anywhere,” the mass of mycelium said in sparking electrical chatter. It lifted a pink arm-like appendage with dozens of protruding tendrils that seemed to shine and glow with energy. “You’re going to leave now,” he said to Dez. The malice and displeasure were more in the creature’s pitch than his words or tone. But it was clear that NUMB didn’t want the interloper anywhere nearby.

Elinor put her hands in her pockets feeling the snug weight of her Mace Can as she walked straight and purposefully toward Alice. He didn’t look up until she was close and then she looked her mysterious greeter straight in the eyes. She had been surprised that it was women, it just hadn’t been what she expected.

She stopped six feet away from Alice and stared at her. “Okay, I’m here what do you want?”

Peachwood Apartment complex, Floor 4, Apartment number 46

Issac couldn't cry anymore, he simply sat in anxious cradled horror as his room slowly revolved around him. He tried sitting in a corner to keep away from the various moving objects, but they still circled around like a slow and menacing tornado. A book here, a trophy there, his football helmet got chucked out the window some time ago, even his bed moved a little bit. What made the situation a little more tense was the constant breeze hitting his face. When he had first ran back into his room after having accidentally crushed his own car with his... not really sure what, he had frantically ran back up to his apartment and locked himself into his room out of fear. In his frantic state he had accidentally blown apart of his wall out, and so now a beautiful view of the city was open to Issac... not that he much cared at the moment.

His mother had tried to come into the room and console him, but he had insisted that she not come near him, even go so far as to yell the demand, " Back off! " The yell had then accidentally cracked some of the wall. His mother, promptly frightened, contented her worrying self to the living room, calling everyone one should could possible conceive for help. Neither Issac nor his mother was sure of what was occurring. Maybe he was a super, or maybe he was possessed. In either event, Issac sat terrified in his room praying that his books and cloths stopped attacking him, and his mother sat in the living room praying and cursing all at the same time.

A very productive morning thus far.

Alice looked Elinor over for a moment then tossed the dossier towards her, taking a couple of steps backwards, "Do you have a light to read it by? Pick it up and have a look. By the way, there is a strong chance there is a tracking device or a bug on your person. I have ways to get around that but I'll need you to at least sort-of trust me."

She kept looking downward the whole time. She would have been the first to admit she was being a little paranoid but she wanted to avoid compromising her identity if Elinor had brought a tail. Keeping that intact was essential at this point, "I have the resources to help you escape your stalkers." she added, "I'm going to take a guess and say you are wondering why I'm claiming to have your best interests at heart when I'm also claiming that I'm taking a huge risk in trying to help?"

She posed the question but didn't leave time for an answer, instead she spread her arms ride, levitating a couple of feet into the air, "I have a stake in the game as well and, by a pure accident of birth we have been cast onto the same side."

There was a flash of red light and suddenly a mass of red dripping Fungus was striding towards Dez and Snake Eyes. "Well, you see, there's just a little problem with that." Adrien said, looking up at the giant mushroom man. "Unfortunately, while I'd definitely love to comply with your demands, I appear to be in pretty bad shape, seeing as my cool super form seems to have been in the middle of dissipating when I hit that streetlight."

He gingerly touched his chest, before holding back a scream.

There was a sharp point that he knew shouldn't be there, and he could feel it through the skin.

"Also, this is just a guess, but I think one of my ribs has pierced through my right lung."

He looked up to the giant magic mushroom.

"Hey, your team wouldn't happen to have a specialised doctor you can take me to, would yo-"

And that was as far as he got, before he coughed up a copious amount of blood and collapsed against the fungus man.

Andrew Marks AKA Snake Eyes

Snake Eyes was about to tell Dez that they should go to the Knight's HQ, obviously. However, NUMB came out of nowhere, which was both a relief yet a little bit of an annoyance. The blind snake man nodded at NUMB's command and summoned his snakes, still whispering about the greatly injured. Using his boa constrictor as eyes as always, Snake Eyes began running around the preimeter checking on the injured and digging them out. "Hey, it'sss going to be okay." he told a man he just rescuded from a pile of rubble before alarmingly telling someone curious in what's going on, "Can't let you enter, mam, sssorry. This place is restrictive. Please leave before I have arressst you..."

The smile on Aarav's face froze for a second when he saw who his customer was, or better, what his customer was wearing. Strange people often meant trouble. And in these times full of strange people, where nothing seemed to be normal, the trouble could be way out of the ordinary. But he quickly got a hold of himself again. A customer was a customer, regardless what he looked like.

Now, the compliment fluttered him a little, causing his cheecks to start getting red. He was very thankful that she wanted an umbrella for herself though, as that gave him something else to focus on. Looking at her for a little while he asked:

"Parasol or Umbrella? Just asking. I know, usually people don't want to have a parasol and maybe only get themselves a beach umbrella but only recently I got a customer who wanted that so I want to make sure that I know exactly what I am at here."

Johanna initially chuckled in response to the question at hand and the general reaction of the man as he realized what she was wearing, though she wasn't exactly imposing nor intimidating.

"Umbrella, parasols would be way too big for my line of work. But who would get a parasol as a mean of blocking the sun in the street? What was he like?" She responded calmly, if a little inquisitively as she looked around.

"At least my friends didn't lie to me. The work you do here is good. Though that's quite specific for a shop. I can't say I don't respect the decision though, it's rather bold in a sense.
But we're not here to talk about that. I'm trying to build up my wardrobe a bit. I seem to lack casual clothing. So I thought having an umbrella might fit me." She turned back to the man with the same smile she used to greet him.

"What do you think?"

Octavian Green

Having heard the commotion, Octavian decided to investigate whatever the noise was. He'd been taking his usual stroll along the rooftops when he heard the fight. Since it was the middle of the day he didn't put on his costume, as that would most likely draw more attention than he needed. It didn't stop him from putting his mask on and slipping his bow and quiver over his shoulder, though. He snuck a peak over the edge of the roof he was on, now almost directly behind the rubble and other debris. He looked around the roof, looking for a way down. And there it was, a fire escape. He jogged down the stairs until he made it to the lower ladder, with which he began descending until he reached the last rung. He dropped down, bending his knees and touching the ground to avoid any injury, no matter how small. Octavian leaned against the wall of the alley, peeking out from behind it into the street. Hopefully nobody would see the man, though it wouldn't have been hard.

Peachwood Apartment Complex, Floor 4, Apartment number 46
A sharp knock at the door distract Mrs. Fontana from her prayers, when she opened it she was greeted by three gentlemen dressed in expensive suits. None of them looked particularly threatening, most seemed like workplace folks, if a bit overdressed. “Hello Mrs. Fontana, please don’t worry we aren’t the government. Can we come in? We have some bad news and would like to see your boy.”

A Gang of Freaks
Keeping one hand on her mace Elinor reached down and took the document. Slowly she flipped through it but kept glancing up at Alice to make sure she wasn’t doing anything dangerous. Elinor though the idea that she was being tailed preposterous, she might have been dangerous but surely she would have noticed if strange people were stalking her.

“I’m more curious why help me in the first place. You need help with something, you need me to blow up for you, don’t you?”

Frog Attack

“Of course we have a doctor,” NUMB said keeping his arm trained on Diz. He would have fired if he thought he could get away with it without looking like an unprovoked attacker. “But it's for members, not criminals. Can’t let terrorists like you walk in and use out band-aids. Now get out of here and never use your powers again. You're lucky he’s too hurt for me to save and kill you.”

The Fungoid mass was blunt and rude although as an unlicensed vigilante Diz should have expected as much. NUMB kept his lightning tipped appendage pointed at him as another flash of red indicated his departure by teleportation.

Peachwood

Mrs. Fontana sat on her coach sniffling into her cup of coffee. She had invited the gentleman at the door into her home and sat them about the living room. Despite the catastrophic situation at hand, Ms. Fontana had the courtesy to offer her guests coffee as well. As she sat crying into her cup of coffee, she tried telling the gentlemen about her son. " He-he-he, ah, * sniffles * he's not a bad boy. It's just that * sniffles * I don't know what's going on with him. Is he a - a mutant or something? Or * sniffles *, is he possessed like in * sniffles * the exorcist? " This last thought brought on a new fit of crying, which she covered with a sip of her coffee. " So, anyways - are you guys like the police or something - do you know what's going on with my Issac? "

Andrew Marks AKA Snake Eyes

As Octavia made his way across the allyway, he may or may not hear soft hissing noises coming from almost all over the place. If he had heard the hissing noises, he would sooner find himself surrounded by snakes, hanging, curled up and slithering all around. One of the snakes, a 'red touching yellow' coral snake, he would find, was staring directly at him, hanging from a bar of the fire escape..

At the other end, Andrew was digging out yet another unfortunate fellow. The injured here seemed to be innumerable along with many many dead. It was getting to the point he was hoping that it would all be eventually over so he could get everyone actual help. However, at a single moment, he blink as he suddenly heard the voices of one of his snakes on patrol.

Ssssomeone is closssse by. He is watching usssss.

Andrew blinked and he shifted the PoVs of his snakes. His grayish filmed eyes narrowed as he saw someone wearing a mask and carrying a bow and quiver, watching him and his crew from a far. Snake Eyes hissed and got onto his feet before walking over to Octavia, shifting back to Rango's PoV as he stared at the unwanted watcher. "What are you doing?" Andrew asked hissingly, his filmed eyes more staring off at a wall while the boa constrictor stared directly at Octavia with piercing eyes, "Why are you here? Thisss place is rissstricted..."

Octavian Green

The archer didn't spot the creatures immediately, surprisingly. Probably because he was busy keeping his eyes glued on the rubble and the individuals inside. Octavian blinked as he was addressed, then took a step back as he noticed (finally) the snakes all around him. Octavian held a hand out, his other one gripping his bow. "What? Since when is this closed off? Is it because of the reptile exhibit?" He asked, keeping his tone positive and light. "It looked like you needed some help, I mean, all these people," he gestured to the ones still underneath the rubble, "just figured you could use a hand." He smiled at him. If negotiations were off, and Octavian's version of off was his being attacked or sometimes approached, he'd just have to escape through his own means.

Snake Eyes cocked his head and shook Octavia's hand with one scally, yet smooth hand as he stroked the chin of Rango in thought. with the other. Octavian Green

Octavian was glad to see he wouldn't need to start shooting people. He smiled warmly now, but his smile faltered when Snake Eyes asked him his name. He didn't exactly have a nickname, though his go-to one for any random questions now seemed to be Red. "Call me Red, and I'm happy to help. If your boss has a problem, I'm sure I'll get the punishment." He said, then he jogged to the nearest pile of rubble. A human hand definitely stuck out, dead or alive Octavian didn't really care (though the mask's lenses confirmed he was alive), Octavian started yanking small pieces of rubble off of the man, moving on to the larger ones after the small ones were gone until the victim's head and torso were dug out. He glanced behind him, then had a double take when he saw someone just lying there. He checked the person to make sure no crushing weight was on them anymore before running over to the wounded vigilante, Adrien, to see if he was okay. Though it was clear he wasn't. "Hey, Snake Eyes, have you checked this one?" He called over to Andrew.
