The Reckoning (Fantasy/Magick) (OOC) (OPEN)

Many millennia ago, while Elari was young, the Divines created the multitude of races. The Humans, numerous and weak, but strong willed. The Dwarves, industrial and stubborn, but honorable. The Elves, clever and arrogant, but nimble. Finally, the Kranians, powerful and rare. The different races of Elari lived separate from one another, until one night. The darkest and bloodiest night in the history of Elari. The night of the Demon Invasion. The demons seemingly came from everywhere at once and ravaged the races of Elari. Attacking and destroying all that the different races created, pushing them back into darkness. Continent after continent after continent fell. Until they came upon the last stronghold of the races. The races of were losing the battle, and had decided to make a last stand with the aid of the Divines. They fought, and they fought pushing back the demons until the Divines banished them back to Gnaitur, the home of the demons.

But the demons didn't go down without doing one last action. They made a Demonic Bloodstone, to make a path back to Elari should that time arise again. Thousand of years later, the Occult of the Damned excavated the site of the battle. On the Winter Solstice, a sacrifice of life was given to the Demonic Bloodstone and a whirlwind of electricity swirled into the sky. Many piercing bolts struck the villages and cities in Elari. The Capital a focal point. At the source of the whirlwind, a portal going back to Gnaitur opened and the demons entered the world of Elari once again.




This is The Reckoning, a world where demons enter the world of Elari, and those struck by the demonic bolts gain mysterious powers. It is your choice whether or not you attempt to fight back against the demons, but you must adapt to living in a world where once more run amok.



The Rules
1. My word as OP is the law of the universe. My Co-Op's word is also law, unless I overrule it.
2. No Godmodding
3. I will allow up to three characters per RPer. (subject to change)
4. Your character is not immortal, and can be injured and die.
5. No specific one is the protagonist.
6. Don't be rude OOC.
7. Disputes should be handled via TG, if I see any disputes in the OOC I will find you.... And just warn you.
8. Three offenses and you are out.
9.You can have up to 3 characters.
10. Please keep the one liners to a minimum
11. Please listen to the APP restrictions/instructions.
12. Have fun, and enjoy the world

Divines:

The Divines appear in any race, or form, and have a sole purpose of destroying the demons through the acts and wills of mortals. They cannot directly influence the course of history.

The Fallen:

The Fallen were former Divines that lost their power after being corrupted by mortality. The fallen are predominantly malevolent, but very few are benign, having found their way out of their own corruption.

Demons:

Demons are a large general classification. Demons are creatures from Gnaitur, and resent everything the mortal races stand for. Demons can appear in many different forms with different powers.

Monsters:

Monsters are creatures that are not demons, but yet not your ordinary creature. They lack human intelligence.

Lesser Dragons: The modern idea of dragons, but without wings, and no fire breathing. They are swift and deadly. They are scarcely populated in forests and jungles, and they aren't spotted near populated areas. More wildly spread in plains and deserts.

Greater Dragons: The modern idea of dragons, and less common than Lesser Dragons. They are mainly located in the High Peaks, but they sometimes venture forth and attacks livestock and civilians like. They are very difficult to kill and very deadly.

Races:

Humans - Humans are squishy and weak compared to other races, though make up for it in their numbers and weapons. They are the most widespread of the races.

Elves - Elves are your classic fantasy elves. Elves do not age after reaching their prime and live for hundreds of years. Full grown Elves range from 6 and a half feet to about seven feet. Elves are talented with the bow, and are most in tune with magic.

Dwarves - Dwarves are, well, Dwarves. Mountain dwelling, beard growing, short and hearty warriors. Dwarves live for twice the time that humans live. A full grown Dwarf are about 4 feet tall to 4 and a half feet tall. Dwarves are talented with machinery and all sorts of weapons. They have little to no magic ability, with few exceptions. The Dwarves have the most advanced weaponry. They are capable of producing rifled firearms, and a vast array of cannons and other explosive artillery. The Dwarves like their guns. Boom boom!

Kranians - Kranians are winged humanoids, that have no finite life span, do not age after reaching their prime, and only seem capable of dying due to combat or poison, and are the only race capable of using holy magic. They are talented with magic and with making magic items. However, they are vulnerable to fire. They reside in mountainous areas.

Giants - Giants are, well, giant humans. They are corrupted by demons meaning that they were originally human, but were corrupted by demons. Full grown giants range from 25 feet to 30 feet tall. Because of their size, they are very low in numbers but require surprisingly little food compared to their size. They are talented warriors, but cannot use magic. Their main source of food are mammoth like creatures.

Dark Elves - Dark Elves are the demon tainted version of the elves. Characterised by their dark bluish or grey skin. They have the same lifespan as the elves. A full grown Elf is about the size of a human. They are talented with spears and magic.

Orcs - Orcs are your classic green skinned, beast-like beings. They are the demonic version of of the dwarves but only live as long as humans. They are built warriors with almost no skill with magic. That said, they are one of the stronger races and most durable. They range from 6 to 7 feet tall and are known for riding giant wolf like creatures instead of horses.

Drotharii - Drotharii are a reclusive and martially competent race. Legend tells that the Drotharii are the descendants of colonials from the Human, Elven, and Dwarven lands, driven to the far north where they survived in solitude from the original demon hordes. Drotharii are shorter on average than their human counter parts, with slightly tapered ears, bleach white skin, and lighter hair and eyes over all. Drotharii dwell under the ground, due to their dwarven counterparts.

Drakon - Drakons are the only race that are known to have supposedly gone extinct. What they were are unknown exactly to those who still roam Elari, but they have left behind many ruined settlements.

Nations

The Confederated Drotharii Understates is a northern nation founded by the Drotharii. Confederated Drotharii Understates are located at the northern reaches of the mortal realm, also known as Drothica. Due to their isolation from the other races, they became self-reliable and extremely militaristic, with their martial skills bordering on supernatural, to the point where raiding the Orcs and other nations has become alright with them.


The underground province of Hardarth houses the dwarves. Hardarth has been excavated for many years. Hardarth was mainly excavated when some dwarves ran from their ancient, abandoned aboveground cities to the safety of their underground mines from the original demons. Hardarth is the most technologically advanced nation in Elari and houses the dwarven capital of Milduhm.


The nation of Yuglana is located on the western edge of the Elari. The nation was founded by the human survivors of the initial demon invasion. They focused on militarism and unity. Years later, a small faction seceded and formed the nation of Ethye on the eastern side of Elari.


Myllenas is the nation of the elves, located on the northern side of Elari, but to the south of the Confederated Drotharii Understates. They are a peaceful folk, and hard to anger. But if they are angered, their vengeance is unmatched.


The nation of Ethye is a small human nation that seceded and moved to the eastern side of Elari from Yuglana. They believe in peace, but both Yuglana and Ethye remain in a war. That is, until the demon invasion.


Religions:

Devilry - Devilry is the worship of the demons that invaded Elari and they occultists assist them in any way they can. They are the ones who releases the demons back into Elari.

Pagan Craft - Paganists believe that the mortals pushed back the demons the first time, and will do so again. They reject proof of so called Divines. They stress the importance of magic, and believe that mankind developed the skill themselves, without divine intervention.

Warcraft - A traditional orcish religion that stresses the importance of honor and glory. The more kills an orc has, the better he looks to a brood-mate. They believe in "Nort" and "Gork", the orcish gods of death and war. They focus mostly on eliminating non believers.'

The Church of God - A religion that believes in one singular entity that created all, and they believe that any signs of magic are the signs of witchcraft, and used by heretics.

Tech Level:

Really depends on nation and race. The most advanced are the Dwarves while some are less advanced.

Appearance: I'm not good with pictures, so:
4' tall, Red Hair ponytailed to the back, and a full, flowing beard. His eyes are brown, with a searching look. His face is rugged, and his skin tone is brown-ish.
Personality: He is a quiet, reserved individual who prefers to be left alone so he could work on whatever project he has at hand. He is no stranger to hard work and is friendly to the people he calls friends. He is creative and resourceful with what he can work with.
Power: Fire!!! -Able to create fire into different forms and can manipulate current sources of fire.
Weapon: He uses a "Boom Boom" gun at range, but in melee conditions, he uses a broadsword. (At least, a broadsword relative to a dwarf.)
Born and raised in the underground province of Hardarth, he was used to hard work, and teamwork. However, there was an accident involving an explosion of fire that has caused an explosion, killing his family. It was many years later that he learned it was his first explosion of power that has killed his family, and now he feels guilt ridden. He seems isolated at first, but he opens up to those he calls "friends". He doesn't open up too easily, and he avoids talking about his past.

Ellendris stands at approximately 5'8, well built with a warriors musculature. He has Amber eyes, slightly tapered ears, and pale almost translucent pigmented skin. Having a strong jaw but narrow face like his Elven ancestors, Ellendris has a white beard tied in the middle, likewise featuring long white hair that is always pulled back tightly and tied at the base of his skull. The Drotharii is a token to his race, an almost perfect example of a merger between his three ancestor races.
Personality: Ellendris has a no-nonesense approach to almost every affair, a characterization of most Drotharii soldiers who have been chosen as one of the elite proletarian guardsmen. The man has a key eye for strategy and mixed unit tactics, as well as a quick wit, and sarcastic temper for those he sees as inferior. Ellendris is kind and sarcrificial when it comes to friends and family, as well as those he serves in the Drotharii Confederacy.
Companion/Pet: Ellendris is often accompanied by his long term friend and fellow guardsmen Divree Felcast. The man is likewise Ellendris' second in the field, and chief advisor in matters of foreign cultures.
Power: Like almost all Drotharii, Ellendris has no projective magic ability. Instead, his race has been imbued with natural martial skills bordering on the super natural. Will lightning quick reflexes, and the musculature and endurance to back it, Ellendris would prove even the roughest opponents an unfair challenge. Drotharii legend tells of an old Drotharii King fighting a Divine's mortal avatar to a stand still.
Weapon: Ellendris wields a hand and a half longsword like most humans would a short sword. Although his blade lacks any magical enchantment, its Winter Steel allows it to pass through minor magical wards and most armies fairly quickly.

Born in the Drotharii Confederacy's capital city, Ellendris was groomed by the noble house of Volundr from a young age to carry on his families legacy of martial supremacy from even within the Confederacy itself. Volundr a rich and successful house that has raised many of the finest military commanders the Drotharii had to offer, did well with Ellendris. From a young age he showed promise, and in his teens he was selected to under go training to become a Proletarian Guard. One of the highest honors in the Confederacy.

The Proletarian Guard taught him to fight efficiently, work long periods in the field, and how to command his fellow Drotharii among other skills. The man was able to gain quite a reputation in battle against the Orc hordes that would occassionally invade up the valley and attempt to enter the Understates. It was his actions that led to the complete destruction of an Orcish settlement that had become rather troublesome for the fledgling Kingdom and its meager trade to the south. Eventually his battle prowess and quick mind earned Ellendris a good reputation, and he was soon promoted to Field Marshal of the Drotharii Army. With the threat of the demons now travelling by rumor up to the North, Ellendris considers sending aid to the southern realms. Though for some reason no demon gate had opened within the territory of the Confederacy.

Born and raised in the underground province of Hardarth, he was used to hard work, and teamwork. However, there was an accident involving an explosion of fire that has caused an explosion, killing his family. It was many years later that he learned it was his first explosion of power that has killed his family, and now he feels guilt ridden. He seems isolated at first, but he opens up to those he calls "friends". He doesn't open up too easily, and he avoids talking about his past.

Slow-minded, gullible and dimwitted, but the bravest and most loyal orc one can ask for. Knows almost nothing of history or how to even properly act in front of others, as he has lived in nature all his life

Power:
Versatile in any fight, Marv has superhuman strength and can take powerful blows from any physical attacks with minimum harm to himself.
Weapon:
Able to use any kind of makeshift weapon, but mainly uses his large battleaxe to cleave down his opponents, is also magically enchanted to cut through most barriers and magic wards. Marv names his weapon "Goldy" do to its magic sheen and gets extremely angry when anybody but him touches it.
Bio:
I pretty much answered this in the personality section, but Marv has lived in the wilderness all of his life and does not know how to properly react to other more civilized people. I will elaborate more onto this if needed

So Marv was living in wilderness his life, so does that mean he has no idea of any orc traditions? As they are the demonic tainted version of dwarves, they have been twisted. But if he doesn't know how orcs are supposed to actually act, or do what they generally do, then he could possibly be against the demons. But will he be? Or will that be established as the story progresses?

He is semi-aware of Orc tradition, and is also aware the demons since he was raised by humans until he was chased out when he was discovered by the rest of the township. his "family" murdered.
His standpoint will most likely be against them however.

Very likely, mate. They wouldn't have been sent out right away, the scout just got back and I'm assuming there was a bit of distance to cover. Seems reasonable to me. Out of curiosity where exactly are the demon portals opening? I mentioned in some of my content for the RP that Drothica has been free of demon portals due to its isolation and what not. Is that fine for the time being?

I'm thinking the mountain range in Myllenas. Of course, ever since they first entered Elari through the gate, they haven't been sighted. Except for, perhaps, a few isolated circumstances.
