Of that Trio- i'd like to claim all three
Capital City of Necropolis shall be located on the North Western most border, a short distance away from water

Culture:
The concept of 'Death' is something that all Vakarian people fear, And in regards to defeating it. They've come very close as a people during the Goblin Wars that plagued the Republic over the past century. The evolution of Vakarian culture has reflected this. There is an extreme social obsession with the concepts of mortality. A very grim dark atmosphere fills every atmosphere and the fields of Necromancy and Transmutation are well regarded areas within Vakarian society.
Races:
Humans
Undead (Formerly Human)
Slave Race:
Goblins (ruled by a combination of fear and use of Transmutation to make Goblins drug dependent on something only the Vakarians can provide)
Technology:
high lighting main technological milestones. Not going to do a full layout of every light switch design
Unholy Union of Science and Darkness:
Due to the general focuses of the Vakarian people, one could say that they've truly conquered death. Using a combination of Transmutation and Necromancy Vakarian scientist have found ways to not only preserve the body, even in death. But also the soul. Those who undergo this procedure have their very soul transplanted into an a body that's been long dead. Leaving behind the weak vessel of living flesh. The process is still in it's infancy which leads to a high attrition rate when it comes to the transferal process. Those who fail still live in their original bodies. But truly lose their soul. Lost into the abyss that is the darker side of Magic. Those who survival the process. Have no need to eat, are not affected by weather conditions, have need no sleep, feel no pain. And are extremely hard to kill through conventional means. Unfortunately, the process is extremely time consuming and resource intensive. Additionally however, the Scientist and Necromancers of the Republic are able to raise vast numbers of mindless, blood thirsty creatures. Neither living nor dead, and entirely uncontrollable with an insatiable need to feed on living flesh. An absolute last resort.
Elysiam Refinaries:
Once of the significant advantages of the Republic is it's one of the few nations with the capacity to produce the highly sot after fuel Elysiam that many nations depended on. This lead to an interesting amount of technologies to develop including a highly focused effort on Elysiam powered vehicles throughout the nation and the use of Elysiam powered machines in factories and assembly lines. On a far darker note however, A diluted form of Elysiam is used to maintain control over the enslaved Goblin population in the Republic. A drug dependence is made, and the recipe for this Elysiam based drug, a state guarded secret.
Mare Mortuum:
Better known as 'The Lake of the Dead", this is a piece of Republic technology that had a noble beginning and took an immense dark turn when the military potential superseded the base research value. Located deep with inside the Land of the Dead, the area of the last major battle of the Goblin Wars. A very evil and dark amount of magic exist. On this field, hundreds of thousands of souls perished in a single day of battle. The collective Tsunami of emotions created a rift in the magical fabric that lines our world. Holding there all of the souls of those who were killed, unable to pass into the next world. The souls of Humans and Goblins alike dwell here, held against their will. Some years ago, a group of highly renowned scientist began a research mission to find a way to 'release' the souls so they could pass into the next world. In the creation of a machine that was to, hopefully close the magical black hole and allow the souls to escape, upon testing the exact opposite effect happened. The machine reaped the souls of everything in a ten kilometer radius. The entire research team, and supporting staff. Had their souls forcible ripped form their bodies leaving behind empty husks with faces locked in horrifying grimaces of pure agony. Upon the discover by the government rather than make such a machine public knowledge. The government deleted all formal record of the project and built a network of towers all inked to the Lake. In strategic reserve, the Government keeps this terrible device. Only one, locked away deep within the holds of the Dead Lands research facility.
History:
The Republic had a fairly standard history for the majority of it's existence. A few interspersed civil wars, civil rights issues, economic up's and downs. But probably one of the most significant events in modern Republic history was the Goblin wars.
Forty years ago, Humans and Goblins co-existed relatively well with few internal struggles that couldn't be solved on a state level. But, during a rather significant economic downturn resources were extremely scarce. It started out initially as fairly standard protest which soon escalated to riots. And eventually blatant racial accusations were made on either side claiming that the other was using up all of the resources. The Goblins eventually, united under a fairly powerful and influential Goblin merchant who became a warlord more out of luck than any actual ability. The role however was fitting. The Republic who hadn't fought a significant military engagement in over thirty years and was easily beaten by the foreign supplied Goblin forces. In a rather short war, The Goblins had carved out a significant chunk of formerly Republican owned territory and there was an uneasy peace reached. For a time.
As the years continued on the economic and resource situation showed no sign of improvement, the then Democratically elected government of the Republic started to lose support. Continuous border skirmishes over the next ten years would later be classified historically as the 'Second Goblin War' even though no formal declaration was made.
Twenty years before the present day, The Republic military that had been illegally stockpiling arms and munitions in preparation for what was to come. When the Goblins made more demands for Republic land the weak Republic government was on the verge of folding, until a series of highly precise assassinations took place and the military seized power from the Democratically elected government in an extremely effective coup. Immediately, from secret staging areas. The new Military Junta launched a three pronged offensive deep into Goblin territory. Goblin forces, were especially effective when they had foreign arms and were fighting against an unorganized opponent. The Offensive was largely successful, right until the Republic Army reached the original Goblin lands. That was when the trenches started.
The ensuing Trench Warfare that took place over the next five years is poorly recorded and there are no firm records over specific battles. But what is sure, is that the loss of life was utterly immense. In desperation for victory. The Republic reached out to far darker parts of Magic Lore. Dabbling in the summoning of demons and the raising of the dead. Many critics of the war, and scholars conducting a post war analysis argue that we couldn't have won without the extreme measures we took. But what was the cost of that victory?
Military Doctrine/Strategies:
US Military Doctrine (1940-1946)
Military Branches:
Army:
Standard branch for Land operations made up entirely of normal, living humans.
Focused primarily on heavily mechanized and maneuver doctrine.
Navy:
Standard branch for Navel operations made up entirely of normal, living humans.
Very little surface navy outside of Coastal patrol vessels, maintains a large number of Submarines though.
Air Force:
Standard branch for Air operations made up entirely of normal, living humans.
In it's infancy as an individual branch, however is mainly focused on providing Tactical level air support, and supporting strategic level air operations.
Goblin Corps:
Made up entirely of Goblin Soldiers with the exception of Human Officers and Enforcers. Used as 'shock' troops to throw at fortifications, labor to construct camps and battlements as well as excellent mine clearance 'engineers'.
Legion of the Damned:
The Elite Shock units of the Vakarian forces. Made up entirely of the highly modified and effective, abet few in number. 'Untoter Krieger' Or Undead Warriors. This unit receives the best equipment available from the Republic. Made up entirely of 'Souled' Undead. Equipment Highlights include Semi-Automatic-external Magazine fed rifles, personal body armor, and new class of medium tanks.
Military Strengths:
-High level of Training and Expertise
-Well equipped Armed Forces
-Fully motorized logistical assets
-Fuel reserves to sustain large scale mechanized offensives
Military Weaknesses: (List at least three good ones)
-Drug Dependence of Goblin Corps
-Quality over Quantity (applies to attrition fight)
-Newer troops have no wartime experience, unlike the Legion of the Damned
-Ethical violations, Other Armies have difficulty working with Republic troops because of blatant ethics violations by the government in the degree of necromancy they preform. Makes civilian Insurgency in occupied countries far greater.
Relations with other nations:
Other nations tolerate what they see as 'abominable acts' because the Republic provides cheap slave labor and large amounts of Elysiam exported.

History: WIP.
Military Doctrine/Strategies:
1. Naval doctrine. The Empire prides it self on having some of the most effective naval ships and crewmen of the world. Predominant strategy is to deploy a pair of Battleships with a Pair of Fleet Carriers with a escort force of around 30-40 ships. (Similar to IRL Carrier battle group doctrine.)
2. Due to the Naval dominance, a fast, agile fighter was needed, this saw the birth of the A6M "Reisin" line of fighters. When the Air force became separate from the Navy, the adopted the J7W for its heavy armament and high speed. There are rumors of a "Jet" air craft in the works, what ever that means.
3. Due to the smaller size of the army, warfare is more based around a set of lightning strikes and deep thrusts at key enemy locations. This tactic is even more so prevalent in the Marine Raider units.
4. Tank Doctrine is to escort infantry and A: Fight enemy tanks; B: Exploit breakthrough in enemy lines
5. Due to the uniqueness of the Imperial Knights, and the small amount available at anytime, they are reserved for the few drawn out wars the Empire faces. Due to their size, they are often shipped in large cargo ships and are often in the direct middle of naval formations.
Military Branches: Imperial Army, Imperial Navy, Imperial Air force, Imperial "Shogun" Corps
Military Strengths: Small, well equipped and trained ground forces perfect for blitz tactics. Navy fallows modern day Battle group tactics combined with high quality ships and crews. Air force/Navy air groups enjoy high speed and agility respectively. Shogun Corps operate as some of the heavyset and most deadly machines of War.
Military Weaknesses: Small over all standing army. Ships are expensive to make. Shogun Corps Mechs are hard to build and repair, needing the use of specially trained magical workers.
Relations with other nations: Neutral in conflicts. Enjoys good trade with Albion and a few other sea faring nations. The Vakarians to the west are looked upon with suspicion and the boarder with them has been closed for some time.
