The Sons of Plunder OOC (Dead)

Postby The Mizarian Empire » Thu Sep 15, 2016 5:21 pm

What is Dead May Never Die...

They have always existed in one fashion or another, bards singing tales of old around a camp-fire or the hearth of a tavern. Sell-swords seeking to use their quick wits and skills for another day's pay and a chance at a good meal. Shady figures in the shadows, always looking to 'find' a quick coin in the pocket or belongings of others. They are the ruffians, the rogues, the ne'er-do-wells of society. Those wretched faces you shun so much and yet cannot live without in a tried and true civilized world. They are the faces you curse so and love all at once. These, dear brother, these are our chance at glory.

Aivan Dorland, Commander of the Sons of Plunder

The Setting:

The world of Algria has been a relatively peaceful (or as much as one may expect) place for thousands of years. While wars wage, nobles plot and the workers toil, life was altogether peaceful. It wasn't until the great astromancer Feinus Takus took note of an unusual constellation at the start of the new year 451 that the world was plunged into chaos. Gone were the years when a man could live in relative peace in his hamlet. For now the dead rise from their graves in unspeakable manners. Banished are the times when one could easily tell a friendly neighbor from a foe, for now new creatures roam the kingdoms and villages, friendly at face value but who is to say beyond that? The world has turned upside down, with more and more individuals turning to either lives of crime or wandering the roads. With so many souls searching for adventure and glory in an era where magic is becoming less the stuff of fairy-tales and more the nightmare of reality, who is to say what one may find around the next bend in the road?

Players will be taking on the role of new-comers to the Sons of Plunder, this setting will likely contain content not for the faint of heart. It will be drawing (at least mildly) from both Darkest Dungeon and Witcher settings. While this will not be a '2 edgy 4 U' RP to coin an internet idiom, this setting may not hold very many cheery moments by comparison to others.

The Sons of Plunder:

With the collapse of the great kingdom of Aikus 20 years ago, untold scores of land lay un-taxed and unexplored by nobles and courageous traveler respectively as the realm is twisted into an otherworldly domain. While the horrors of the unknown crop up everywhere nowadays, the realm of Aikus has been thoroughly saturated with magical phenomena, relics and mysterious trinkets from worlds beyond our own. Numerous kingdoms have spoken out, stating claims to this village or that castle due to blood relations or ownership of titles long since forgotten. Even the most foolish soldier however refuses to step unto this now foreign and treacherous place. Talks of unspeakably unnatural rituals and fiends beyond description roaming these lands have terrified many from ever stepping foot onto the now blackened, blighted soil that was once the greatest kingdom the world had ever seen.

Enter the now legendary "Sons of Plunder". Stepping forward and venturing into the unknown. These hardened men and women of fortune recruit from the dregs of society, those whom have little to live for and even less to lose. the Sons of Plunder are among the only individuals brave enough to wander the roads and forgotten homes that once stood so proudly. Whether they be hedge-knights of forgotten fame and glory or the lowliest thief seeking to flee from bounties on their head, the Sons offer something no-one else can provide to today's commoners. These strange, uncaring acres of unexplored hell made manifest hold untold treasures and mysterious relics just looking to be used or sold for a tidy sum. Such a life is far from easy however, for only a handful of recruits ever survive to see such wondrous, albeit profane, creations.

So you're interested and you want to jump in on the good/bad times. I'm not going along with the typical stat/dice systems. Instead I'm using a CC system of my own design, with some slight alterations. Application information below is rather straightforward with one or two 'pick from one of these option' categories. If accepted, I will sling you a TG where I work with you to flesh out the character in secrecy. I'll offer you different pre-fab sets of skills/equipment and another little snippet of background. If you don't like any of the options I provide, I'm more than willing to work with you to find a fair mid-ground.

'creative' (AKA races of your own design) are allowed in apps for now. This may change if we have too many apply compared to 'normal' races (Humans/dwarves)

Code: Select all
Name:

Age:

Gender:

Height

Weight:

Race: (Elves are off the table, unless you can give me a VERY convincing reason, dwarves humans and creatures of your own design are allowed so long as I feel they won't break the RP however)

Appearance: (Pretty straightforward, pictures are nice, but far from necessary)

Distinguishing features (optional):

Life Sign: (Choose from Options below)

Biography: (The more detailed, the better, 2 paragraph minimum)

RP Sample/Link: (If you don't have an rp you're comfortable submitting, write a few paragraphs of your character resolving a conflict in their preferred manner and spoiler it)

Note(s): (Use this if you have comments/questions or want to give more detailed information on a race of your design)

Many cultures rely on constellations in the sky or times of year as a basis for one's personality. In Algria, determining one's life-sign is an ancient custom dating back hundreds (if not thousands) of years. These rituals change from one place to another, but all give respectably accurate results. WHAT these signs mean is where the disagreement comes into place.

The Wolf: Cunning, manipulative, Secretive, distrusting of outsiders but typically loyal to those that have earned it.
The Hound: Boisterous, friendly, loyal (often to a fault).
The Tome: Wise, inquisitive, ever hungry for knowledge.
The Crow: Cynical, Observant, tempers vary wildly.
The Blade: Strong, Vulgar, Short tempered.
The Mother: Caring, emotional, protective.
The King: Bad omen, luck can change swiftly, cautious.
The Star: Unknown, symbol has only come to occur in recent years.
Note:If you have an idea for a new sign, use it in your app and include it's meaning(s).

If/When a character is accepted, I will TG you a set of options, including items/gear with "Grades". Odds are if you didn't read this you're scratching your head at this point. "What does having grade 1 gear or grade 5 gear matter?" I hear you wondering, It all comes down to the foes I will present from time to time. Players as a whole will be allowed to dispatch enemies as willy-nilly as you wish. After all, not every monster in Aikus will offer a life-threatening challenge. From time to time however I will be offering a foe that is of X challenge (1-7). How swiftly you dispatch such a foe or resolve said situation is up to you, the players. To give a base-line of how difficult such an opponent should be, I offer such numerical values. These values are to offer you a baseline on how serious a threat that enemy will be to you, the player:

an example of a grade 1 opponent may be several zombies. Wherein I provide such a scenario:

As you search the homes of (city), you start to hear the all-telling sound, the ruckus of the undead shambling towards you, their howls and vacant stares are the only sign of anything approaching humanity in their lifeless faces (1)

The (1) in this case denotes a difficulty of 'poor' or grade 1, while equipment only has 6 grades of quality, there are 7 grades of difficulty, the first 6 of which are the same as your equipment:

1 poor
2 common
3 above average
4 Master
5 Legendary
6 Unique
7 God-like

How drastically you deal with such a serious threat, I leave up to you, the players. Bear in mind however, that dealing with a grade 7 threat, even with fully upgraded equipment, may (and likely will) result in someones' death, while I may even force such a hand if I feel players are being TOO overpowered, players should struggle to combat an opponent or challenge of higher grade than their equipment allows, especially if it outmatches ALL portions of their equipment relevant to the situation. Fighting a character or monsters above your skill/equipment grade should be a challenge, indeed your character should be feel as though their death could come at any moment if they are facing it alone. facing an opponent 2 grades above you, while possible, will take a great deal of cunning, fighting it blow for blow in 1 on 1 combat however is suicidal.

One last thing to note is that with unique exceptions, options I provide are generally "Grade # armor/weapon", what kinds of armor or weapon your character will be equipped with are up to your personal preference. A grade 1 set of armor can be a leather jerkin, bracers and leggins or a full suit of plate armor if you prefer. A leather-armor wearing rogue for instance would be able to side-step, dodge and weave around their opponent to wait for an opportune strike whereas someone in plate armor has far greater protection to soften a blow or two, allowing him to go straight for the kill, but he will be slower because of it. This should be reflected in how you handle combat. At the end of the day, this is your story to tell, I'm merely offering challenges and the occasional plot hook to add spice to it all.

Note: This is merely the Name, Life Sign and Option name of each accepted character.

Qaldor Dukalise, The Scroll (Tome), Of Horn and Home.
Baerys Vaerydon, The Crow, The Unforgiven
Hathen Vrose, The King, The Forsaken

Rules/Items of note

While these rules are subject to change, i'm just going to put the basics here. A list of things to get out of the way and/or should be made clear:

1 ) I am thy lord OP, I have final say whether something is Meta/unfair.
2 ) That said, I am open to hearing your reasoning behind your actions, if I think your reasoning is fair, I will allow it.
3 ) Players start off as raw recruits in the Sons of Plunder (Henceforth SOP), if this RP lasts a while, newer characters will be given better kit to start with.
4 ) This RP is not intended for the faint of heart, that being said, 'fade to black' if you plan on anything risque and/or considered too mature for the rules NS allows.
5 ) Magical/supernatural items/abilities will not be given out like candy, don't expect to start with them without very good reason.
6 ) Character death can and likely will occur. I don't intend to make this a 'high mortality' RP, but don't take it personal if you come up against impossible odds and die.
7 ) As stated, these are subject to change, I will be noting any changes in thread whenever they occur, hopefully such changes should never need to occur but sometimes necessity requires such things.
8 ) Do not be afraid to make your own race for the application, but be as detailed as humanly possible about it as you can.

The Races/Creatures known thusfar:
Humans: Short-lived, but not to be trifled with. While few humans are experts in more than one or two fields of skill, their sheer numbers and ease of cooperation in times of need make them a dangerous lot. They are an extremely adaptive race, with dozens if not hundreds or even thousands of different cultures spread across Algria. It is this divide that is both a weakness, and yet a powerful strength, allowing human communities to cooperate and adapt to many situations in ways other races simply couldn't fathom.

Elves: Brought to our world in the newly named "Age of the Star", Elves tend to share many similarities with humans physically. Mentally however, they couldn't be any further from kin. Elves are masters of war, and often view other races as lesser than the dirt beneath their boots. While incredibly few in number (only a few hundred are known to exist across the entire known world), they are NOT to be trifled with. Most of all, they view the Sons of Plunder with extreme distaste above everyone else. The mercenary's eagerness to venture where no mortal should disturbs and disgusts them.

Dwarves: Masters of industry and machinery. While incredibly short folk (The tallest dwarf known, Duarin Grellas, stands a staggering 5 ft tall, opposed to the 3.5 ft average), Dwarven wares and architecture have become prized throughout Agria. Infinitely more common than Elven folk(Indeed, it is not entirely uncommon for entire districts to be occupied by Dwarven communities), they tend to be cautious of strangers. Those that earn their trust however are often showered with gold by nobles and merchants alike to act as ambassadors for the chance at the bizarre weapons and tools they have on sale. It was the dwarves that first introduced Humans to the invention of 'flash-powder', a stable yet extremely explosive substance that many human alchemists and inventors have sought to harness for their own tools and ideas.

Minotaur/Tauran: One of the few rare humanoid entities to exist (aside from mankind) before the Age of the star in Algria, Tauran have had a long-lasting relation with mankind. The introduction of horses from far to the north centuries ago had a major impact on modern human society. The introduction of these formerly wild animals gave access to faster communication, transportation of greater amounts of goods and use by civilians and soldiers alike for faster travel across the world and battlefield respectively. Despite this (and other ideas spread by Minotaur culture and trade), only a sparse few know the truth of these great beasts that many view with malice and prejudice. Raids into human civilization are common from Tauran blood-packs (so-called by humans for their threats and war-cries), leaving nothing but destruction and monstrous totems of obscene violence in their wake. Such blood-packs represent an ultra-violent culture found closest to human civilization, and are a far cry from the generally tolerant and (generally) peaceful nature of most of these beings. Many folk-tales and legends in human history have ties to the more established and civil minotaur cultures lying far to the north, where only the bravest of mortal men travel.

Trolls: Much like Minotaur, Trolls have always existed in some fashion or another since the dawn of Algria's birth. The age of the Star has, however, unleashed far more terrible breeds of these massive beasts upon the world. While it is rare for them to dwell anywhere close to civilized land, woe be unto any whom would dare trespass on their territory. The earliest encounter with such a being was by Ser Taulus Montewar, whom described them as "A mountain of meat, muscle and rage". While such creatures have been known to exist under mountains and in isolated swamps typically, sightings of different trolls have occurred in recent years around volcanos such as Mt Acropis far to the West.

The Undead: A term often attributed to the physical remains of those both recently and long deceased brought back to life. Such individuals are often merely husks of mortal flesh, bearing only the faintest glimpse of sanity or memory in the Age of the Star. While most are feral monsters, a chosen few maintain something resembling sentient thought, who or what sparks such sentience remains unknown, as well as for what purpose.

Wraiths: While often lumped in with The Undead, Wraiths are another sort of horror altogether. Nearly all are capable of some degree of coherent thought, capable of speech and even memory. While Wraiths are similar to the Undead in that they represent those whom have shuffled off their mortal coil, Wraiths are often the manifestation of a soul whom suffered a death so horrific, they are trapped in our world, wandering and hunting those responsible for those responsible for their terrible fate. It is common for them to pass on once justice has been metted properly, but in rare cases......well that is a tale for another time...

The Bastard's Bastion: Home to the Sons of Plunder, the Bastion is a small fortress that rests along the most established route into Aikus. It is the final resting place of many a Son, along with all the worldly needs the mercenaries would likely desire. It has become a crossroads for traders seeking to purchase artifacts and noble families hoping to hire the company's services.

Butcher's Rock: At the center of what was once the great city of Boderauc not far across the borders into the Kingdom of Aikus stands a towering monolith of stone, pouring blood from unknown sources across a city long since abandoned by sane folk. It now stands home to a foul entity known only as "Nul'Guluth", a massive beast whom hunts the city streets for victims both of this world and others to butcher alive with an equally giant meat cleaver for reasons unknown. The city remains the most common 'training ground' for new recruits, as many of it's outlying homes have still yet to be searched, despite the unnatural forces and entities that dwell within it's walls.

The Maw of Teeth:, Dwelling far west from Aikus, the Maw of Teeth is home to many a troll, monster and, unsurprisingly, many a gruesome and violent end to those whom would venture there. While it remains home to one of the largest Dwarven-exclusive settlements above ground to date, even such mighty folk struggle against a land not meant for mortal folk.
More to come

The Kingdom of Ayvalon:Located close to the borders of Aikus, Ayvalon has been a hotbed of warfare since time immemorial. Noted not just for the fertility of it's farmlands, but the ferocity of the farmers whom would guard their homes so dearly. Despite being invaded by numerous foreign kingdoms throughout history, successful occupation has been near impossible and even then it has always been short-lived, its inhabitants make life a living nightmare for any whom would be so foolish to press foreign laws and demands on them. Despite the hill-dwelling peasants appearing simple and passive to all outsiders, Ayvalon's population prides itself on being hardy, powerful folk. The so called "Ring of Blood" events, wherein they take part in wrestling and bare-knuckle combat has ensured many a spectacle for travelers and hardened these otherwise simple folk to the hardships of foreign invaders and the rare monsters that dare invade their homes. They revel in the simplistic homes and societies they have dwelt in for so many centuries. Many find fascination in the lack of king or ruler in Ayvalon, with villages electing a mayor/major or elder to determine laws in their domain.

The Kingdom of Iasolopis:(Pronounced ee-yelp-sop), this ancient society has maintained it's borders since time immemorial. Rivaling Aikus (and surpassing it only just) in age, this (backwards) society is viewed with equal degrees curiosity and wonder. Home to some of the most spectacular feats of architecture to date (Including the so-called "Dome of Faiths" and "Arch of Prosperity"), the kingdom of Iasolpis has stood the test of time against both foreign invasion and incursions from foul beings beyond alike. While many may view their society as 'backward' or exotic, few can deny the comfort with which it's citizens live in comparison to many civilizations to date. As with all great things, however, there lays a great flaw. The king's simultaneous elite-guard and police-force, the Emultai (Pronounced Em-Yew-Tai), warriors trained from childhood, hold a great deal of sway over the politics in Iasolpis, and on more than one occasion have staged 'accidents' among it's ruling elite to ensure they remain a force to be reckoned with in this ancient and powerful society.

the Leuonic (Luu-on-ic) Kingdom: Forged in the years following the great rise of Aikus, the 2 kingdoms always remained somewhat hostile, despite (or in light) of their shared borders. The Leuonic people however made themselves ever valuable by maintaining themselves as a brilliant trading grounds for wares from the massive realm of Aikus. Where one may view the great golden city of Katanis, capital of their bitter neighbor as the beating heart of Aikus, the Leuonic kingdom was it's stomach. The guts that brought sustaining resources to and from. Despite numerous bandits and mercenaries waylaying the Leuonic people's traveling salesmen and common folk, particularly following the failed invasions of the western neighboring Ayvalon, few would challenge the Leuonic crown's right to rule. Even then, such invasions were brought to heel in violent fashion. The kingdom's mountains and minimal farming lands above ground have since made it a welcome home to Dwarven settlements, unchallenged by those wise enough to leave the neighboring lands of Aikus well alone. Even now, following the great civil war of Alric's betrayal(Known as the Lindelt Schism) the kingdom had seen few monstrous incursions. The proud merchants and warriors alike whom once made their home here have since dispersed into neighboring nations for the most part however. The Bastard's Bastion is in fact the southern most fort in the kingdom, formerly the home of a wealthy merchant.

The Iron Watch: The predecessors to the Sons of Plunder, the Iron Watch are a shadow of their former glory. Originally organized from the remnants of numerous fallen religious and knightly orders across Aikus, the Iron Watch swore to do all it could to preserve it's former kingdom's history and culture. Rarely ever venturing beyond the borders of it's sole castle, "The Iron Citadel" nowadays, those interested in understanding the unique phenomena that plague Aikus often journey to this final bastion, built in the remains of the Leuonic Kingdom.

The House of Qualis:Lying far to the west, past even Iasolopis, the House of Qualis is the only location in the world that can truly claim to teach the arts of magic professionally. Home to a vault filled with the most extensive collection of magically infused artifacts from Aikus the world 'round, these secret scholars seek to gain a better understanding of the worlds beyond Algria, to attempt to understand what caused the combining of our world with those of such foul creations. Despite the infancy of this secretive order and the wealth of their vault, none have dared to attack these wielders of power far beyond any mortal understanding.

Aivan Dorland: A man of few words, but many deeds, Aivan has wandered Algria since shortly after the beginning of the Age of the Star. Rumors spread far and wide that he bears lineage hailing back to those fallen houses of Aikus, perhaps even bearing rights to it's long forgotten throne itself. Despite this, Aivan is a man of action and words alike. He has made peace with both Elven communes and gained the respect of numerous Tauran tribes. While he may not be the finest warrior in the land, nor the most silver tongued, few can deny his ability to unite the most unusual allies to purge the darkest corners of the world. While he claims to do so merely for the coin it brings in, some suggest he may have ulterior motives. Tread cautiously around this man...

Gordus Dorland: Adopted brother to Aivan, where his protective brother may hesitate, Gordus charges into the thick of battle with glee. How these 2 met is as yet unknown, although it is suspected Aivan recruited him for his fierce capabilities in combat. When this mighty 'mountain of a man' as Aivan calls him starts to swing his hammer "Foe-crusher", woe be unto any that may stand in it's path.

Lord Taikus of Arlay: One of the most constant clients to the Sons of Plunder, Lord Taikus is quite clearly fascinated with the many artifacts and supernatural phenomena that plague Aikus. As one of the wealthier nobles across the kingdoms of Algria, one must wonder if his interests are merely a hobby or a matter of genuine desire to obtain power from worlds beyond our own.

Chief Yawg of Udul Representing "The Void-born", a collective of various foreign races and entities despised by the human societies of Algria, Yawg is an unusually intelligent Swamp troll, even by the already cunning examples of their race. Representing communities of Troll-born, Tauran, sentient undead, Alrihg and many other species, this abnormally clever troll seeks to ensure the protection of his kin through the services of the Sons of Plunder.

Nul'Guluth:A butcher without compare. Master of "Butcher's rock", Nul'Guluth is a giant of a creature. What little of this monstrosity's 20 ft tall leathery-skinned persona that isn't bathed in blood and ichor is a dull blue, he is known for often dragging an equally massive axe, fashioned after a gigantic meat-cleaver. The few that have survived to describe this great beast suggest he may be an astoundingly ancient troll. Tread carefully in the presence of this foe.
Challenge: 4

The Bulduhr family: Originally one of the most prestigious noble families in Aikus, the Buldhur family remains a constant memory of the terrible fall of mankind in the once shining kingdom. This undead 'family' has since grown in size to an extreme. Incorporating refugees and other wanderers whom dare to pass through Aikus. Their pale white flesh, not unlike spoiled milk, remains a constant reminder of the profane magics that keep these unholy beasts alive to prey on the monsters that infest Aikus. Yet despite their profane existence, this 'family' remains one of the few moderately peaceful groups in this once magnificent kingdom. The sons have long sought to exterminate the Bulduhr family, yet the Son's highest ranking members constantly suggest there may be more to study among these blasphemous creature's existence. They are also worth studying simply for their resistance to the corrupting influence of Aikus' perverse sorcery that pollute it's soil.
Challenge: Unknown, possibly 5-6?

The Emerald Knight:Stories and fairytales have existed since the first hours of the Age of the Star of giant of a man, garbed in emerald green armor. His mere presence (on the back of a black horse) is often the sign of great misfortune in the coming days for any whom see him. Who (or what) this being is has yet to be determined, but none have been able to approach him as of yet. This "Emerald knight" most often will simply vanish without a trace upon leaving sight of any whom follow him. Those whom get too close are consumed by horrific illness in following weeks, none have survived such a terrible affliction thusfar.
Challenge: ???

Am'Dai'Hagaaz: Known only as "The Devourer" or "The Unspoken". This wretched reptile hunts the grounds far east into Aikus, well beyond most current expeditions have ventured. Aivan Dorland is the only known survivor of this foul entity, describing it merely as "A flying snake", refusing to go into any greater detail.
Challenge: 6

Name: Qaldor Dukalise

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Height: 6'6

Weight: 257

Race: Minotaur

Appearance: Image

Life Sign: The Tome

Biography: He was sitting in an Inn, drinking and keeping to himself, when a Human decided to seat himself next to hum. He merely looked over at him and huffed. Grabbing his large staff and preparing to lift himself up when the Human stopped him.

"Wait! Wait... I do not wish to insult you Tauren. Or poke and prod at you. I simply wish to ask, why are you here? I'm surprised they even let you in.

He glared, and relaxed. The Beast press his back against the chair once more, hearing it squeak slightly as it supported his weight, and he rubbed his jaw as if thinking before he spoke in a surprisingly clear and very low voice.

"I am Qaldor, last of Clan Dukalise human." It was almost as if he was spitting when he said human. Like it was an insult. "It was not my choice to be here. A series of unfortunate events landed me here speaking to you. You wouldn't care to hear them though. They will just bore you."

The man quickly shook his head and motioned a waitress over, signaling to refill Qaldor's drink. "Oh no not at all sir! I wish to hear your tale in full."

Qaldor raised his eyebrows, and decided he would indulge the man. "Very well. I will entertain you for now my friend. We must start from the beginning however. I was born to one of the more minor Clans in a Nomadic Tribe in the North. I was raised not as a warrior, but as a man of knowledge. Under the Star sign of the Scroll, or the "Tome" as you seem to call it. So I learned to write numbers, and keep records, and took to memorizing all the ancient tales. I was taught to fight much later, so I will get to it when it comes. My family had the task of organizing and distributing supplies gained during any trade deals. But my specific job, was that of Lore-Master. To keep the history of my people alive through myself. Well, the Chief had me learn under his personal Lore-master as his replacement. At the time, I was the most promising pupil he had. Quick in both mind and body, able to memorize stories in only a few days, and recite them without flaw, and when the time came, I was an adept fighter. I got to chose which fighting style to Master, and to allow myself to pass on to my next generation of pupils. So I chose Kal'Gaterd. The art of 2 Handed Fighting. So day after day, I mastered Great-swords, War-hammers, Clubs, any weapon that took two hands to use. And after years of drilling and practicing I managed to become proficient enough to train others. Though I decided to keep training myself instead. As to why I am here,"
He looked down at his flagon the waitress had just placed for him. He took a long drink, and gently placed it next to his bag. He wiped his mouth, and continued speaking. " As to why I am here, is a far more interesting story than my summary of my first 20 Years. Last year, the groups that you call the Blood-Packs started moving closer and closer to our hunting grounds. We saw it as nothing, just the tribes moving around in their backyard, until the raiding parties started coming. First it was every month, then every 2 weeks, and so on and so forth until the entire tribe spilled over across the border. We had just setup the closest to the borer we would get for better Game, and they capitalized on that to dismantle us. They rode through, our warriors prepared for the prospect of an invasion, but not in formal ranks, fell one after another as the Tribe was set to the Torch. My Clan was inside the Chiefs tent as it went up. I managed to escape with my sister, who was quickly cut down as well as we fled. Man after woman after child was killed, or thrown into fire pits. So I fled on foot, alone, with the only knowledge of my peoples culture being the stories I was taught. So I want to go back, slaughter the Blood-Pack, and reform my Tribe. Simple. But for that I need money, and friends. So I am here. In a human settlement, passing my time drinking and telling stories. So I guess it worked out for me didn't it?"

This time as he went to move the Human didn't stop him. Merely tipping his hat and wrapping himself in his cloak, he tilted his head back and prepared to rest. "May your path be lined with that which you seek, and filled with those that will help you carry it."

Qaldor smiled softly and left. Leaving the Inn, he signaled for a carriage, and planted his staff into the ground.

Note(s): If anything needs fixing, just let me know!

It is a dark fantasy setting. If you're familiar with Darkest Dungeon or The Witcher trilogy, it will borrow mildly from both. I'm going for a darker/gothic approach along with a twist of lovecraft.

Distinguishing features (optional):

Life Sign: Sandor Clegane (No GoT reference? That was supposed to be The Hound. Hence the joke...)

Biography: Born into the prestigious family of landed knights, House Zweihander served the King of Iasolopis faithfully for many centuries before the Age of Star. Arguably, one of the two greatest of these members alive today would be the twin brothers Zigmond and Zalahad, the former succeeding their father. Lord Zigmond of Castle Zweihander was arguably among the brightest men in the Kingdom, and the most beloved, whose trade with the Leuonic Kingdom brought further prosperity to Zelig (their barony thingy fief) and their kingdom overall. However, Zelig was more warlike in talents, and wandered highway and byway as a knight-errant.

During his wanderings, his elder brother was found missing and presumed dead, and all the holdings of House Zweihander defunct and revoked. With no home to return to, and no means of finding out who did it and shoving a blade up their arse, Zelig casts his lot with the Bastion. Not only would it provide profit, experience, but also a few good comrades who wouldn't be partial to shoving their blades up whoever took his elder brother out, and stealing back their gold.

Certainly! I enjoy it when players intentionally cripple themselves. I will be taking a personal step in fleshing out each character's background 1 on 1 via TG so such traits give me a fun challenge to write around.

"Wait!

A full-fledged 'sniper' would be difficult in this setting, as it mostly focuses around bows and crossbows. While guns exist, they are smooth-bore weapons so hitting your intended target at anything beyond 60 yards in the best of conditions, let alone in a heated melee battle, is going to be a rather extreme challenge.

Never play a direct democracy. Fat people can be KING. Moles in space are fearsome. Magical Vikings wreck shit. Spies are Difficult. Stereotypes kill Zombies. Robots hurt society. Nerds can lead super people. Anti-socialites have demons. Stuck up Snow Elves don't interact well. HRE in Space tends to get complicated. Superheroes can be very orthodox. Fanatics don't make friends... even in space.

Since we can do our own races, I'm thinking a draconic parallel to the Tauren, basically big tribal sorts with similar, yet dragon-y, features.

I meant sniping as in using arrows and crossbows. Also, is it okay if he communicates using a mixture of hand gestures and facial expressions?

Sure, bear in mind while Tauran are already pretty outcast among human societies considering blood pack behavior. Some communities (especially where those whom know better dwell) are more or less tolerant the further south you go. As a rule of thumb though, the less human you look and behave the more despised by the general public you'd be. This is also a nod to the Witcher inspiration (note to self, add this information to OP), where Elves and Dwarves get sideways looks anyway and anything more bizarre than that is usually met with torches 'n pitchforks at the edge of town.

Allow me to put it this way. If you can see it being possible in Medieval Europe, where much of humanity's kingdoms are based upon in this setting; I'm willing to at least read through and work with you to make it reasonable. I'm rather strict about certain things (In your case don't expect to be making consistently accurate 'called' shots such as hitting a man's eye at 400 yards with a bow, 100-125 MAYBE) but on others, especially given it is a fantasy setting, I'm willing to be flexible.

I'm okay with hand-gestures and facial expressions. After all that would be how most deaf or mute folk of the era would communicate.
