GENERAL INFORMATION:
NS Name: James Usari - GCCS
Official Nation Name: The Socialist People’s Democratic Republic of Japan
Nation short Name: North Japan, Tokyo-Japan
Territorial Claims:
(Image)
Population: 60.000.000
GOVERNMENT INFORMATION:
Government Style: Single-party Council Republic, unicameral dictatorship
Political Freedoms: Limited, but not non-existent. Due to various factors mentioned below, the SPDR-J has more freedom in her system. Criticising communism and socialism are still illegal, but the party allows for greater diversity in communist thought. Various different viewpoints on Marxist theory are possible, and the party top is usually a ground of academic discussion, with various academics throwing around all their own theses on economy and Marxist theory.
Civil Freedoms: Pretty good. In the egalitarian society of the SPDR-J, women and minorities stand on good footing in society. Women are eligible to the same high positions of men, and unlike anywhere else in the world, already lead fulfilling, working lives of their own. The same goes for minorities, who can rise to great heights. This Japan knows great shame for their actions in Asia against both Europeans and other Asian peoples, and does everything in her power to make amends for these horrors. Religious freedoms, however, are non-existent. Some Buddhist cults are allowed, due to their egalitarian nature, but the rest is outlawed. Especially Christianity and Shinto are hunted down to the brink of extinction.
Economic Freedoms: Non-existent. Private property is outlawed, everything is owned by various communes on the community level. The central government holds economic control, and makes sure production is divided according to need. This means there is no private property, and nothing is really owned by anyone.
Nations Capitol: Tokyo
Head of State: Chairman of the Party Kenji Miyamoto
Head of Government: Speaker of the Supreme Council Kobo Abe

It is our hope that, one day, all the world may reap the benefits from communal economies, and when that day comes, our state will be the first to disband her borders and abandon her notion of a nation-state”

GENERAL INFORMATION CONT.:
History of your Nation: When the war against Japan dragged more for many more years than it should have, the USSR decided that it had taken long enough. Kirov was not going to sit idly by while the Americans got all the influence in the Asian theatre, with him left scrambling in the dust. So, when Germany was soundly defeated (and when Churchill got Operation Unthinkable out of his head), Kirov diverted troops to Japan, declaring a war on them and crashing into Manchuria. With most of the Japanese occupied fighting the Americans on various fronts, the door was open for the USSR to smash the last Axis power in the world. Resistance was fierce, though, and the desperate Japanese units fought to the last man. This was not what the Red Army was accustomed to, especially not in the final days of the German war. Units had just deserted the Wehrmacht by the thousands. And now, they were fighting back. Aided by many tank battalions, rocket artillery batteries, and the infamous ‘flying tank’, the IL-2, the Red Army chewed through Manchuria, Northern China, Korea, and eventually, mainland Japan, where they secured the northern part of the peninsula. In 1947, general Zhukov met general MacArthur in Odawara, between the line of advance of their two armies. A crude line was drawn across Japan, separating where Zhukov and MacArthur would exercise control over the country.
However, things were not as right as they seemed. While in Eastern Europe, Kirov had the power to push through his agenda with merciless abandon, in Japan, he had to count on support of the Allies. The Americans had the bigger naval presence there, and it would take weeks for the Red Navy to arrive there. Even then, the combined British and American fleets would have torn apart his efforts. So, Kirov had to relinquish. He would have to allow some form of democracy in the government he left behind. That was as much as the allies got, though, and within the framework of a democratic system, Kirov did his worst. Yes, it would be a democracy, but only through local communes, making the electoral process work-bound and very inefficient. And there would only be one party, allow that party had to allow for diversity within her ranks. Finally, this party would have the ultimate say over all matters, not the unicameral legislature. This way, even though he had created a democracy, he could still exercise control. Or so he thought.
The technocrats he left in charge, formerly loyal vassals to the USSR, now revealed their true colours. As soon as the Soviet Military had withdrawn to deal with Hungarian and Czech insurrections, the Japanese began to follow their own agenda. They allowed for some forms of free speech and freedom of the press, rejected most political ties with the USSR, and even had the Soviet ambassador arrested (before setting him free a few days later). It was a clear message that Japan was a free nation. At least, Northern Japan was. Looking at the carnage of the Korean War, and seeing what such a futile conflict would bring, Japan instead began a strategy of brotherly coexistence with their southern neighbours. A friendly race, one could say, to show the world which system worked better. There would be no force of arms, although there would be a strict government control over the border. This way, the North could focus on her own issues.
The communisation of the economy proved easier than expected. The poor, disgruntled masses were happy to accept the financial aid the US supplied, together with economic reforms that broke the power of the formerly-wealth landlords. The poor saw a rise in living standards and, even though they were treated lower than before, the elite too stood to gain. Doctors and lawyers had suffered too during the war, and the new system was better than what they had during the war, although they were affected negatively overall. The armed forces, who were sick and tired of fighting, welcomed the pacifist stance of this new government. They returned to the land they had worked before the war, and help build up communist support in many of the rural villages. The same went for the factories, where women were now the dominant workforce. They too welcomed the egalitarian nature of their new government, which seemed to be the Socialism with a Human Face the Europeans were talking about so much.
Still, Japan faces problems. Economic growth is not as high as it could be, and the South is gaining on that front. Furthermore, many are questioning the stance of the government if freedom of speech. If various communist factions can have their say, why can’t the liberal faction have one? What makes communism better than any other system? These sentiments are illegal, of course, but find some resonance with the leading classes. Indeed, what stops someone from calling liberalism ‘legal communism’, and taking up that position in the Council? The party tries to root out these problems, but they become larger every day. The ample supply of food and labour keeps the populace happy, but in the bigger cities, problems have started to escalate. Meanwhile, with the war breaking out in Indochina, many are wondering why Japan isn’t standing up to American imperialism. The more militaristic (especially those who didn’t live to see the second world war) call for a war to unify the peninsula, and to liberate all the world from US oppression. The government, again, tries to silence these opinion, but that is harder to do. After all, the stance on the war is not so much a stance on communism, and spreading the revolution was one of the basic ideals of Marx. We will see where this will bring our nation, although the destruction of Socialist Japan seems a real possibility to those with good foresight.

History of your Nation (Please be very detailed, POD is from 1850*):
With the end of the first world war, came paritions. Partitions of Germany, Austria-Hungary and The Ottoman Empire. The Greeks- elated to seeing their former rival suffering, took this moment as their chance to regain lost lands. The Treaty of Sevres between the major powers in the Middle East carved up the ottomans, giving the Greeks Thrace and Symra. With the new Ottoman Federal Republic sent reeling, Greece took it as their chance to liberate even more territory. In 1922, Greek troops poured over the Ottoman border, grabbing Constantinople and pushing across the Marmara to occupy Bursa. With Bursa falling, the Ottomans attempted a counter attack, and failed. Greek troops saw the oppourtunity and pushed for Ankara, the Turkish provincal capital. Occupying the city in 1923, the Turks finally scrambled together some 22,000 troops and battled Greeks near the city of Konya, finally resulting in a Turkish victory. The Greeks lost the city of Ankara in 1923, and now it seemed the Turks would reliberate Bursa and Constantinople. The Greeks dug in, making the old style of trench warfare now possible. The war lasted until 1925, when the Ottomans sued for peace after the Operation Atilla had failed. The treaty was simple- give the northern Pontic Greeks a large degree of autonomy, and cede to greece the Marmara region, and the city of Constantinople.
After the war, Greece experinced a time of growth. Avoiding the Fascist coup, the state grew in number. Many Greeks called it ''the happy days.'' In 1939, Italy attacked Albania. The king of Albania, King Zog, gave Greece a offer they could not refuse- Declare war on Italy and we will cede to you Southern AlbaniaNo way in hell that would happen. Albanians would never let the Greeks occupy their lands.. The Greeks accepted. In 1940, Greek troops poured across the Epirus Mountain Range, occupying Albania under a monarchist system. Italy could not make the Greeks push out, and it was only the help of Germany that defeated Greece. By now, the year was 1944. American Generals decided to launch a invasion from Greece instead of Sicily. No, The Allies would not invade through Greece. They wanted to knockout Italy quickly and put pressure on Germany from the immediate south. Greece was liberated, and the greek free army marched norther and norther until they reached Albania- under Yugoslav control. Neither willing to invade Yugoslavia to occupy Albania or needing too, the two nations established a peace. Without Yugoslav support, the KKE's revolution failed. Not many major events happened to Greece during this time. It is known to Greeks as the ''great peace'' The Coup Attempt failed, due to a willing Constantine to use military violence to defeat the coup.

History of your Nation: Largely similar to real life. Our timeline begins in 1865, with the end of the American Civil War. The Confederacy, with the help of the Royal Navy which challenged and broke the naval blockade of the Union, seceded and became fully independent from the United States of America, the United Kingdom being the first nation to fully recognize it as a sovereign state. The rest of history continued like in real life. Britain joined the Entente Cordiale and fought in the First World War against the Central Powers, with the Entente winning the war, Britain taking over a part of the German colonies, and receiving southern Iraq, which has remained a territory of the British Crown until the present day. The Second World War also happened like in real life, with Britain resisting the German Blitz and ending the war victoriously on the side of the Allies, receiving a British Occupation Zone in Germany. The war however weakened the UK, and most of its colonies, especially those in Africa, gained independence. The end of the British Empire seemed to be near. In 1948 however, the Violet Revolution of Gandhi in India turned violent, which led to the Calcutta Incident, when British police units opened fire on a crowd of protestors. This incident led to unrest, rebellion, and civil war until 1950, when the British Crown signed the Delhi Agreement, granting independence to Northern India and Pakistan, keeping southern India.
This event however led to a resurgence of the British nationalism and imperialism, which the formation of the Nationalist Party, which fought for the UK to keep control over its remaining colonies and overseas territories, like Iraq. The Suez Crisis of 1956 ended well for the UK, which, with the support of the USA, managed to regain control over the Suez Canal, maintaining its status as a major world power. With the help of the USA and the CSA, the UK recovered from the damage of the Second World War, and the White Defense Paper of 1958 led to a raise in the British military budget and an increased militarism, leading to the UK playing a larger military role in the NATO and in the world. The acceptance of the request to turn Hong Kong into a protectorate of the British Crown has sparked tensions with China, while tensions with the independent India and the Iraqi rebels remain at an all time high. GENERAL INFORMATION CONT.:
History of Nation: The Scandinavian Confederation was initially founded in 1931, as an inter-governmental alliance. The Confederation was an attempt by the members of it, to slow down and perhaps reverse the effects of the Great Depression. The Confederation eventually became more and more closer-knit as its economy and the economies of member-states became reliant upon one another. During the Second World War, the Scandinavian Confederation feared invasion by the Nazis - and so they joined the war on the side of the Allies preemptively. When the Germans did try to invade Denmark, the Scandinavian Confederate Army pushed them back, however, this was temporary as the Nazis soon won over in the southern parts of Denmark.
The Confederation was relieved of this, however, when the Allies helped them push the Nazis out of Denmark as well as invading Germany's west, dividing Nazi forces. The Scandinavian Confederation after this became slightly more centralized, establishing the Confederate Assembly as their legislature, the Presidency as their executive, and the Supreme Court of the Confederation as their judiciary. The Confederate Assembly held the most amount of power, however, for fear of a dictator trying to take too much power. The President holds all powers of an executive, and is elected by majority vote of the Assembly, or in some cases, is chosen by a political party if they dominate a large majority of the Assembly. The Scandinavian Confederation has since began centralizing more and more, to make the Confederation's government more effective as well as ensure mutual protections between member-states.
The Confederation's stance on the USSR and its member-states, as well as the Warsaw Pact, remains somewhat tension filled. The Confederation sometimes actively works against the USSR's trade routes, as they pass through Scandinavian waters to go anywhere. However, they only actively stop ships with weapons or WMDs on board, often times preventing them from passing altogether. Though it hasn't sparked war yet, the Confederation is anxious because of the tensions the USSR is causing. The current President, Bernard Falk, is of the Confederate Party; and is actively trying to get policies and such in place to centralize the government further, as well as to prepare for war if it should occur.

GENERAL INFORMATION CONT.:
With the UK also now dragged in the coalition of the IndoChina War, what will happen/ Only the future will tell.
