1.Hello and Welcome fellow RPers to 1975:"2 Minutes to Midnight" The world is once again dividing itself and the many nations that inhabit this planet are pitting themselves against one another. The spread of Communism seems inevitable; the democracies of the world are watching their liberal wall crumble as their containment plan fails. Multiple proxy wars have occurred, yet an even larger conflict looms. Which side of the Iron Curtain will you be on?

Alright Welcome to the Lore lets lay down what went down:
1. The POD of this RP will be 1865 when the Confederacy managed to successfully split from the Union. Following three successful offensives into the North by the Confederacy, the Union was placed on a defensive front for quite some time, Lee's army managed to pierce deep into Maryland following his stunning victory at Antietam moving his forces further North. The South virtually encompassed DC, however, the Confederates began loosing on the naval front and a full fledged blockade was underway. The Union forces began landing troops near South Carolina, placing pressure on the South to divert forces from the offensive campaign to held defend the heartland. Lee moved his forces out of Maryland, the units besieging DC were let up and the South was on the defensive. This remained so for the rest of the war, President Davis reached out to international support and the British responded. Still bitter about America's independence a nearly a century later, the British dispatched an a fleet to challenge the Union's maritime dominance. By 1864, they fleet had arrived and broke the Union blockade. The war raged on for another year until finally a truce was called in Niagra Falls, many nations of the world recognized the CSA and mounting international pressure forced the Union to recognize their sovereignty as well. December 20th not only became the day the CSA seceded, but it when it became fully independent
and defeated the Union.

2.WW1 still occurred from 1914-1918 with is usual belligerents, Germany,Austria-Hungary, and the Ottomans, vs the Allies. The Germans surrendered the allies were victorious however, the Ottoman Empire did not dissolve fully, after the partition of the Ottoman Empire Turkey was still able to hold onto Syria and Northern Iraq after making a separate deal with the allies, the British proceeded to occupy the southern portion of Iraq..The deal was that the Ottomans would disban the Sultan absolute rule and establish a Constitutional monarchy. An Allied presence was established in the Ottoman territories until elections were held and a smooth transition ensued. It was everything but smooth, the Syrians demanded autonomy, and the Iraqi's waged a war on both their Ottoman rulers and fight the British occupiers. The insurgency still continues on to present as Iraq fights for total independence from Britain and Turkey. The Confederates decided to stay out of the conflict, focusing on domestic development, whereas the United States entered the war in 1917 on the side of the Allies.

3. WW2 occurred with an Axis defeat and an Allied victory. The Russians raced to Berlin and split Germany into two,one occupied by the Soviets the other occupied by Allied Forces.A crisis is currently ensuing between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, as the Soviets claim that the US is placing nuclear warheads in the BDR, breaching The Pacific Theater was whole other ordeal, the Japanese managed to occupy most of China, the SouthEast, the Pacific Islands and made successful headway in Alaska. The US government responded by chemical attacks against advancing Japanese forces in Alaska, this drew heavy condemnation from other allied powers, in the end 4 Atomic bombs were dropped, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Yokohama, and Osaka. The war officially ended in 1947, after American forces landed in Okinawa and the Northern Island of Hokaido. 4 Atomic bombs, the Japanese seemed to never forget, and so a feeling of distrust and overall tension hasn't left Japan since, and a large American presence remains in Japan until present-day. WW2 was the first time that both the US and CSA cooperated on a large scale, both economically and militarily to defeat the Japanese, and to a lesser extent the Germans. This paved way for increased cooperation between the two ending a bit of bad blood.

4. The Russians test a Hydrogen Bomb in 1948 thus beginning the arms race and the Cold War.Thereafter in 1956 the satellite sputnik is launched, the Confederates launch a satellite of there own later that year, and the US government in 1957. The Space Race continued until 1969 when the United States made the first manned moon landing, thus ushering a different kind of Space Race.

5. The Korean War sees a unified Korean peninsula under the Kim Dynasty and Communist regime. The war went from 1950-55, and ended with a Chinese intervention. The North Koreans invaded in 1950, prolonging a defensive war until 1953 when UN-primarily American forces intervened on the side of the RoK. The tides turned in 1954 and a major offensive was launched into North Korea and within a matter of weeks the Americans reached the Yalu river and overran the Hermit Kingdom. China, threatened by such a large American presence on their border decided to launch an offensive of their own, sending nearly half a million troops over the river bed. China, along with soviet support, managed to push NATO forces back to Busan in months, and the great Busan Evac was underway. The remaining NATO and South Korean forces retreated to Japan, where they claimed refuge and in 1955 the war ended with the Pyongyang Accords. This saw Korea become united under a Communist banner. Again this would be another conflict where the CSA and US would cooperate largely.

6.Decolonization occurred on a massive scale, all of Africa was granted independence from the major colonial powers. However, in 1948, the Violet Revolution Ghandi was leading turned violent. In 1948, British police units gunned down a crowd of protesters in Calcutta sparking civil unrest and eventual uprising. From 1948 to 1950, Violet Revolutionaries clashed with British colonial forces, in Delhi Agreement, all of Northern India and Pakistan was granted autonomy and eventual Independence, however, Britain retained the southern portion of India. The border between Free India and Colonial India remain one of the most strained and most fortified borders in the world. The Dutch lose control of Indonesia, but retain control of the island of Java. Hong Kong remains under British protection, at the request of the Hong Kong government creating tension between the UK and China.

7. The IndoChina war, encompassing Vietnam,Laos, and Cambodia, began in 1972 when Communist Forces lead under General Than Nagayo, took over Cambodia and Laos and penetrated deep into Vietnam to establish a major Communist safe haven, the insurgency is largely backed by the Chinese and Soviets, whilst government forces became lightly backed by Western powers. In 1974 the Confederacy dispatched nearly 45 thousand troops to IndoChina to combat the Communist insurgency. The US has yet to jump in, fearing a rerun of the Korean War. The IndoChina War has gained much international attention especially after the Phnom Penh Massacre where Communist forces slaughtered over 60 thousand people in the span of a week. British, French,Confederate, and Anzac forces have binded into an impromptu coalition, although there is no central command or strategy.

Large state industries exist, especially in utilities, again harkening back to the Long presidency. How does reverse apartheid work if the White people are invaders who would at that point just go back to Europe, already being such a small minority in most African nations they were insignificant in 1975.
