Day 1 Begins

Lord Cael Marchan stood at a window in the Grey Hall, atop the imposing hill of Mount Hope. Progress on the new barracks seemed to be coming along well, after the old one was destroyed in a fire some time ago. His daughter, Andraste came running to the window. "Papa?" The lord looked down and smirked, "Yes?" The girl went on talking immediately, giving him no time to continue. "I'm bored, can we go riding?" He chuckled. "Not now lass, it's almost dark out..." Andraste hung her head in defeat. "I can ride in the dark..." she muttered.

Far below the keep, builders raised a thin pallisade wall. It wasn't anything impressive, but it would certainly keep bandits and wolves and the likes out, and it might delay a small army. It was only temporary of course - soon great stone walls would surround the village, lined with engine towers and turrets, but those things take time - this would have to do for now.
