"Laelynn is correct. Aliens have been spotted in Brazil, and South America is about to withdraw from the XCOM Project. We can't afford to lose them."
"T-t-tell me where to s-shoot, Commander."

They landed and, almost immediately, Laelynn spotted a few aliens.
"Aliens here! Shall ve, friends?"
"Yes! I'll be right there! Hey, can you guys get that bright butter?"
"I-I-It's called MELD... And y-yes? Charlotte?"
"Fine. Let's go."

They split up into two groups.
Laelynn and Jessica dealt with the aliens, while Charlotte and Max claimed the MELD.
However, as Laelynn killed the first alien, the other one ran away.
And before they could deal with the runaway, Charlotte and Max got into some trouble.
3 aliens. Followed by 3 more.

Laelynn flanked the alien and killed it easily, it shot nothing.
However, as they were getting back...

"Oh no oh no oh no oh no"
"Get a hold of yourself, Maxine! We have 6 aliens here! Can you maybe help?!"
An alien prepared to fire.
"Y-Y-Y-Yes! I can! I'll hel-"
It shot at Charlotte. She fell.

Also, Erieanna isn't very nice.

However, 2 more aliens appeared after that.
Max was left alone, forced to fend off the incoming Sectoids alone.

"Jessica is coming, Max! Ve both zink you can hold zem off!"
"Laelynn is right! Hey, Lae, can you cover me? Please?
I'll help Charlotte."
At this point, Max was almost sobbing.
Thoughts of I could've helped! and She may die because of me! crossed her mind.
However, beyond the firing of ballistic rounds being fired at the Sectoids and her own crying, she could hear Jessica.
"You're gonna be okay, Char!"
She rushed over and used the medkit to stabilize her.
Charlotte was fine.

"...
I'm alive, aren't I?
I thought I was dead. But I guess I'm not. I'm only sleeping..."
"Hey! Charlotte is okay!"

At that moment, Max felt great. She felt rejuvenated.
She felt awesome.

A Sectoid fired back at her, but hit the car she was hiding behind. It lit on fire, forcing her to move back to the MELD for high cover.
Meanwhile, the same happened for Jessica.
The cover she was hiding behind was destroyed, forcing her to move away too.
Laelynn, though, was still getting to the battle.

The next turn, it was time. Time to take back Brazil. Time to kill the aliens that hurt Earth.
However...
They couldn't make anything happen. They all missed. But then the Sectoids fired at Max.
They missed, too. But the MELD was destroyed.
Now... it was one last alien's turn. Max was wide open. No cover, no help, nothing.
The Sectoid fired... and she fell, too.
Max died.

"M-Max?!"
"T-this isn't happening, right? Right, Laelynn?"
"I-... Zis is happening. Dear god..."

It was just Jessica and Laelynn now. Charlotte was laying down, unable to move or do anything.
They couldn't make anything happen, either.
No kills. And when the Sectoids fired, they got a solid hit on Laelynn. And the hit hurt.
"Dear god no! I can't deal vith this! I can't! No no no!"
She panicked and hunkered down.
"Laelynn?! C-calm down!
O-...

You can't. Okay... What do you do when you're stressed, Jess?
You just... I don't know. That doesn't matter! Before you know it, you're gonna be on the dropship, perfectly fine, and you, Laelynn, and Charlotte are going to honor Max the best way you can. By defending your home.
That's right. That's right! Alright!

So just let it out and let it in, Jess!"
She killed one Sectoid that turn. Laelynn calmed down, too.
Kind of.

She picked up the rocket launcher from her back and fired. The rocket zoomed past Jessica and to three aliens, killing them all.
She cursed every curse she knew under her breath.

After that, they cleaned the floor. Angrily, on Laelynn's part.
And then there was only one alien left.
Laelynn was injured, but she didn't care. She wanted to kill them all.
So, the angry soldier ran straight to the Sectoid.
It hunkered down, possibly in fear from the adorable and furiously angry German soldier walking to him.
"Feigling!"
Jessica watched on as she reloaded her empty rifle.
And once the Sectoid went back up, it was treated to the lovely sight of a machine gun to its head.
"Bang, bang, Maxvell's Silver Hammer came down, upon his head!
Bang bang Maxvell's Silver Hammer made sure, he was dead!"

The Dropship landed, and they loaded the bodies onto it.
The mission was over, Max died, Charlotte was seriously injured, and Laelynn needed to be treated too.
But Jessica? The rookie? She was fine
However, the first death in XCOM was tough. Yesterday, it seemed all these troubles were far away.

That was a long one. I don't know if it was good, either. But meh.
