More expensive units and upgrades?

I'll probably go with a stigma con regarding non-benders within the nation raising the price for all ground units that are not industrial or bending.

Why did the fire nation never take advantage of Sozin's comet? It increases firebending power in a 100%

Nothing, sad really, but due to the lack of actionable units to strike Ba Sing Se, the lack of airships to attack the Earth Kingdom, the fear of White Lotus Agents, and fear of that such a strike would not be worth the risk of breaking the truce which they needed to rearm.

Faction: Independent
Leader: Lord Primarch Horran
Population (Be realistic): 35,000
Nation and Location: The Kingdom of Sturnguard (located along the south eastern mountain range and peninsula in the Earth kingdom.)
Primary Bending Ability: Earth with some water
Cultural Practices and History: When the Fire Nation first attack tens of thousands of Earth Kingdom refugees fled east to the perceived protection of the larger cities. However, the infrastructure did not exist for such an influx and many thousands began a mass exodus east towards the Eastern Air temple. Along the sojourn many fell to famine and disease and many more splintered from the main group to make their new homes among the mountain ranges. In the end only 15,000 made it to the far eastern port and the first ships departed toward their last hope for peace. It would not be their salvation as many had hoped, but rather their damnation.

The first few refugees arrived on quickly constructed makeshift vessels that were shattered against the storm tossed shores and many hundreds fell beneath the waves to a watery death. It was the ship Sturnguard that finally made it to the island, and to the horror. Even in the early evening twilight the spotter could see the billowing pillars of smoke that wafted high into the cloud layer and left the stench of soot and death in the air. Before another word could be had ships of the Fire Nation descended upon them and their make shift craft was no match for the mighty vessel of steel and fire. The crew was captured and tortured and brought to the mainland. However, before they arrived on shore the captain managed to jump over board. He was discovered by a small Southern Water Tribe scout vessel that had been looking for survivors from the Air Nomads.

The man informed them that he was Merrik Borje the captain of the Sturnguard and that he had to warn his people of the impending attack upon them. The Water Tribe members diverted from their mission and took him to Passkal Landing where the camp had been. When they arrived all that was left was death and the shattered remains of his people. For the next two weeks they sailed up and down the coast looking for any sign of survivors. In the end 300 were found and during a mass evacuation brought back to the Southern Water Tribes home.

For the next two years they waited training and preparing for their revenge. Merrik took on the mantel of Lord Primarch and on the eve of the second anniversary of the slaughter he lead a combined force of 300 Water Tribesmen and Refugees to retake their land. Over the next three weeks every trace of the Fire Nations outpost and colonies was reduced to ash and cinder, their bodies stuck upon posts that lined the roads by the thousands. For his victory over the Fire Nation he was given a specially crafted battleaxe by the Water Tribe. Furies Banishing was created with a lock of the greatest of the Southern Water Tribes Benders hair inside the hilt. With this he would have his revenge.

The Fire Nation would not have its people slaughtered and quickly sent a massive task force to snuff out Merriks band. Merrik and his forces began a vast pilgrimage into the mountains hoping to recruit members of his way ward people. However, they had years ago been fractured into 6 different tribes. To gain their trust and their blade he would have to travel to each of them and prove his worth.
A test of strength, a test of knowledges, a test of patients, a test of justice, a test of flight, and a test of loyalty. In the end he would prove victorious in all and turned each of the tribes’ rulers into his 6 Primarchs. With his new army at his command he was approached by a woman of the Fire Nation.

Her name was Langen and she was a powerful fire bender. She approached him disgusted by what the Fire Nation had done to his people and offered to help him in his revenge. She had become disenchanted by Fire Lord Sozin calling him a traitor for what he had done to the previous Avatar. She did not approach him empty handed however, for she offered him a shield forged by flames made by her own hand, the Severance. Merrik accepted her offer for assistance and she became the commander of the 7th Legion brining the total number of his army to 7734.

As the Fire Nations army disembarked from their ships they met not a small band of rebels, but rather an army of thousands. The battle would rage for 7 days and 7 nights. The mighty fire bender igniting the oxygen of her country men inside the lungs, water benders ripping the liquids from their insides and Earth benders tearing out the ground from under their very feet. Through it all none were as devastating as the Lord Primarch Merrik and Furies Banishing. He single handedly slaughtered over a thousand men and benders a like with all of his hate and pride thrown into every blow as they crashed against his Legions shield walls only to be cut down by well-placed bending and javelins. Finally, on the 7th day he stood before the General himself.

The General fought with great zeal and fury, his fire bending unsurpassed by any of his peers. All the while Merrik deflected blows against him with his shield and armor and on the 7th hour he struck the General down with a mighty blow of Furries Banishing. The general died upon his blade and his executive officer surrendered soon after. Merrik would have been completely justified to end the Fire Nations army then and there but what Merrik saw was no longer an army, but a broken people. Shattered against his might and left to live out as empty husks of men. He sent them back in defeat, a fate far worse than death for them.

The Fire Lord was furious at their loss to a band of refugees and upstarts but the diverted forces had already resulted in far too many dead and far too much time wasted. He decided to call off all further offensives in the region until the southern Water Tribe could be dealt with.

Over the next few years 7 great cities were erected throughout the eastern mountain ranges of the Earth Kingdom. Under Merriks rule the would grow and prosper and wage an unending war against the Fire Nation helping to keep their forces at bay in the Earth Kingdom and Southern Water Tribe. Over time however Lord Primarch Merrik would perish with age as all men do. He would name his wife Langen to be his successor for her meritorious deeds both in battle and in life. While most of the Primarchs accepted her the children of two of them though Merrik a traitor for putting a fire bender in charge of the Kingdom. They launched an attack in the night and sparked a civil war that would rate for 20 years. In the end the Kingdom was fractured once again and the 7 cities became the 7 Kingdom.

To this day they have remained fractured but as word of a ceasefire falls upon the world a new Lord Primarch name Horran has decided that the time is right to rebuild the long shattered tribes and forge their own destiny in this ever changing world.

Sozin and Azulon manage to conquer nearly 50% of the world and Iroh nearly conquered Ba Sing Se without airships in less than two years before his son was killed without that boost so It would be stupid not to take advantage of it and the firelord gets his health increased so things like deep wounds can't kill him easily and Ozai was a master bender that also could use the lightning so assasination is quite a lame excuse to have him removed.

I don't know why they should fear a sect whose main purpose is pacifism and has less than 20 or 30 members, and how can a sect make more progress than the whole Earth realm which has more men, resources and brains, how did they reach the main palace without being notice? And Iroh who is also a White lotus member, what happened to him? Could he live with the remorse of killing his brother since he loved his family so much? Wouldn't he defend his brother against a corrupted sect that is not different from his rivals because they use cruel methods to achieve their objetives.

So I was going to be an island republic, but then I saw that the Northern Water benders were free.
Consider this a tentative reservation.
Edit: Or maybe not.
I know that bending is a major part of this series, but I prefer the guy in Legend of Korra who was anti-bender.

Faction: Kingdom of Si Wong
Leader: King Ce, General Gao Ho Pok
Population (Be realistic): Aprox. 230,000
Nation and Location: Si Wong Desert
Primary Bending Ability: Earthbending and Sand
Cultural Practices and History: The Si Wong Desert had always been the most difficult place to live in and even worse to control. The Fire Nation and the Earth Kingdom had been vying for control for decades while fighting the various Sand Bender Tribes and trading with the neutral Beetle Merchants. The Desert finally was in the hands of the Fire Nation as they ambushed the Earth Kingdom general and his retinue which caused the rest of the army to break down and the Fire Nation occupied the Si Wong.

The Fire Nation held the Desert with some difficulty as they had to worry with attrition but two people rose to power in the land by helping secure alliances between Beetle Merchant nomads and Sand Bender Tribes. One was name Ce, a charismatic merchant who kept losing his goods to Fire Nation raids so he start to hire mercs to try and resist the Fire Nation. He hired an exile Sand Bender by the name of Gao Ho Pok to try and lift the occupation of the Misty Springs Oasis. The Battle for the Oasis was the first success and the making of Si Wong Rebellion.

The Rebellion spread as both of them made allies and enemies as Gao was brought back into his tribe and helped form an army that was able to fight against the tanks and soldiers that were coming in waves. The Fire Nation started to take notice as the Rebellion started to sink entire brigades of tanks and soldiers were being lost and more of the main army was coming to deal with the threat. The army tried to deal with the Rebellion but it was a stalemate until the Battle of Steel Plateau.

Gao and a few Sand Bender Tribes were able to push through enemy lines and managed to bend the sand sink large sections of the Fire Nation Army and managed to sink the general while the main army push forward to take advantage of the chaos. The victory against the Fire Nation liberated the Si Wong and helped lift the invasion of Ba Sing Se. Because of this, the Earth Kingdom allowed for the Si Wong Desert to become its own Kingdom under the watchful eye of the Earth Kingdom. While Gao was offered the crown, he didn't want it since he all the power he needed and his own private booths in drinking and gambling parlors he visits.

Within two years, the Kingdom had started to rise to regional power status as Desert culture evolved into two groups, strong sand bending tribes and beetle herding trading guilds. The Sand Benders have become militaristic as they were reformed the raiding tribes into an elite bending force as the trading along outposts and the three cities that had grown thanks to the reforms that had been happening across the desert and increase trading with local towns and Omashu.

Misty Springs Oasis is the capital and largest city in the Si Wong as it holds all of the trade that is ever going and coming through the Kingdom. Another city that was built was called Wei Qi. Wei Qi is known as the City of the Sand as it became home to the military and of the study of Sand Bending after Gao personally invest in it in order to spread Sand Bending. Because of the rise of cities and power, the people of the Si Wong have started to have doubts about the rule of Ba Sing Se and an independence movement had started to form while some believe that Ce should be instilled in Ba Sing Se to form a more unified Earth Kingdom.

Diplomatic Relations: The Kingdom trades with other Regional powers in the Earth Kingdom but there has been an air of hostility against Ba Sing Se for some time.

I saw something about the Sun Warriors on here, one thing is that I fully support they are here and make some sort of return (I would caution that don't use the Great Master Dragons for war.) And they would have a small population for being in hiding to start off with and they are somewhere inbetween the Western Air temple and the Fire Nation islands on thier own island isolated as what would be considered ruins

Wasn't implied that they known about it, just took advantage of it. Would that work?

Fair point, I'll just say a few Bending Tribes and Gao were able to sink a good chunk of the Fire Nation Army at night time.

Oh, and about the Pros and Cons for Si Wong?

Probably none besides the one for standard earth benders. Not much is known about the sector besides well sand.

So, just to be clear, if I app as the Fire Nation I would be playing as a Prince / ess under Azula. I'm assuming Azula is you since the OP says Fire Lord is currently taken by you. So when I app I just create my own Prince character because to my knowledge she has no sons or daughters so therefore she would just install some sort of governor of sorts for Ember Island or what have you. Less we alt history Avatar and give her children?

Also, a weakness for Fire Nation should be the speed in which they create industrial products. I get they are a manufacturing giant but sentimetn against Azula and more difficulty transporting resources should make that production more difficult. Just an idea, not fully sure since without the Avatar around they were the most OP faction around town.

EDIT: Or perhaps Mai and Ty Lee would be the "Prince's" under Azula who gave them preferential treatment being that she had no children. This might go against tradition of the Fire Nation only increasing anti-entiment towards her. In which case i'd be fined playing either of them, possibly one more than the other... but nevertheless fine.

I have two and perhaps a con

1. Beetle Breeders: The Rhinoceros Beetles of the Si Wong have been breed as beast of burden and have became a national animal as many have been started to been bred as cavalry for their tough carapace and the ability to fly into the enemy. Cavalry cost less by 30%

2. People of the Desert: The Si Wong is the largest and direst desert on the planet, to live here is a miracle in of itself. All ground troops get free Ranger Training

Con

Landlocked Philosophy: The Kingdom is landlocked and cannot build ports or ships until they reach it and they must pay an extra 50% for ships if they have the ability to do so.

Yes or a Governor over a particular colony. Do you know what type of colony you would like?

That's why in the OP page, all the bad things happen to the Fire Nation. To bring some semblance of balance. I stated above about my idea of a con so you can look at that.

It would be interesting to have a colony led by one of her close friends so go ahead on that.

Ok I will app as one of the friends.

I was thinking the Hu Xin Provinces. They are along the West Coast of the earth kingdom which I'm sure are important to the Fire Nation but don't have much information on them allowing me to really RP resources and all the things in the RP to make it my own. Also I imagine that being a staging point for the Fire Nation while being something the Earth Kingdoms dislike.

Or I can take Yu Dao, another tense area.
