The history is interesting too.

Plus, I have a lot of fun figuring out the relationship between Chinese and Japanese; I'm fluent in the former and somewhat conversational in the latter.

Only thing is that people who see me trying to learn Japanese make anime references and things like that; they end up disappointed when I tell them I only read Assassination Classroom and One Piece.

Which, for some reason, nobody else seems to be interested in.

Also, weebs. There was a guy who once asked me how to write "ochinchin daisuki desu" just so he could use it surreptitiously in a Chinese essay.

Hey. I was just thinking about watching Assassination Classroom too. It's probably the only anime I'll ever watch besides my two favorite ones, Danganronpa and Tenchi muyo gxp.

Other than that, I do not watch anime nor do I really care for it, as it's not really my thing. All in all, anime is just boring and unimpressive to me.

And I learned Japanese for a bit before I just gave up on it all together.

But at least I know 5 other languages!

Me, there's only one anime I watch and that's Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Because it's dark, edgy, and has sparkly transformation sequences; what else could I ask for?

Also animated stuff tends to give me headaches and it's only twelve episodes and one movie sequel soooooooooooo it's much better for me than all the multi-season anime.

Ooh, you're learning Japanese? Me too! I'm still rudimentary at it, but I'm getting better!

I could probably sustain a short conversation with a cashier, at my current level. It'll be a while before I can read Wikipedia articles in Japanese.

I tried learning German and Russian, but I gave up on the latter. I do get to speak a bit of Chinese dialect here and there, as well as Peranakan Malay with my grandmother, but I'm far from being a polyglot. :p

PS: I've never heard of that anime. I only know the mainstream Shōnen Jump stuff

I can read french at a very basic level. I think I'm just going to go ahead and be a lazy American that can only speak English.

I used to watch a lot more anime than I do, but I would recommend Ghost in the Shell and Tokyo Ghoul to just about anyone.

Eh. I don't really care to be honest.

And desides English, there's French, Spanish, Latin, German, and Italian.

Though I am rusty as hell with the last three.

I've got French to a level where I can articulate myself enough to get around and Latin on an imperial level. I can sort of make out written Portuguese, Italian, and Spanish. I recently started on Korean. Hangul is learnt; now I just need to find the motivation to actually learn the vocabulary and the rest of the grammar.

In terms of anime, I have to say Attack on Titan is my favourite. I normally don't watch anime though. Something about having the book just makes it better. That and my local library doesn't carry the tv seasons.

But the TG anime misses a LARGE chunk of all the stuff that happens in the manga.

Isn't that usually the case with television shows and books (or in you case, manga)?

They always leave stuff out to fill in the time limit.

At this point I'm beginning to get antsy about not having posted for two pages. I haven't been any sign of Finsternia for a while. I'm considering just having my characters leave the potions where they are and going, but I'd like a second opinion before I do anything.

Teacher Application:

Name: Ruby 'Kusanagi' Kasoura
Age: 28
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Image

Element: Darkwind and Water
Subject: Disciplinary Officer, Head of Security
Personality: Ruby, or 'Kusanagi', as she is called by Professor Ruta, is a mostly silent individual who almost never converses with students or teachers, often being seen as a distant person who does not care for socialization to any extent. And this is a fairly accurate description of her, as she does have a deep-rooted mistrust of those she does not know, men in particular.

Though she will never say so, she has an absolute hatred of prideful, self righteous individuals who feel as if they do not need to justify their actions, no matter how cruel they are. Ruby may never participate in debate, but she does not hesitate to show scorn to 'Mage Supremacists' and 'Noblebloods', despite serving the former, albeit reluctantly.

Even if it is plain for all to see that Ruby puts her duty above all else, even her own rest and well being, she does show compassion to students who are mistreated by those around them. She will rarely say a word, but she is always there for the students that need a helping hand, for she knows all too well what it is like to be neglected and alone.

Most odd about her, however, she finds a strange amusement when she sees students brought before her for simple acts of mischief or well meaning pranks that went wrong. It is known that she is more lenient on prankster types, but she does not forget past offenses, and nor does she forgive.
Likes: Peace and quiet, poetry, vigilance, subtle mischief, cool temperatures, Aquos, and Solums.
Dislikes: Obnoxious noise, mean spirited pranks, mindless antics, irresponsible students, hot temperatures.
Bio: Ruby Kasoura was raised in a poor urban area of San Francisco by a small, non-magical family that was rather impoverished and heavily indebted at the time of her birth. Her parents were usually away searching for work or doing odd jobs to provide for themselves and their daughter, but after Ruby's father ran away with another woman to escape the pressures of his marriage, which had steadily escalated into violence no thanks to their financial problems, he was never seen again, leaving Ruby and her mother to fend for themselves.

By the time she was thirteen, Ruby had discovered her magical powers after unintentionally making it rain inside her apartment, to which her mother did not at all respond well to, throwing a fit of rage at both her daughter's newfound abilities and her own misfortunes. Believing her daughter to be the source of all the bad luck she had been put through, she threw Ruby out of her own home.

From there, life barely improved for the girl. Without a home and without a guardian to protect her, Ruby became a wanderer, scraping by on the city streets and relying on thievery to survive. For a while, she thought she might even be able to escape the series of unfortunate events that had plagued her for so long.

But alas, her story would not end in such a way, as karma soon began to catch with the girl's misdeeds. Using her power to displace air to make herself silent, but not having mastered her control over her powers yet, Ruby attempted to pickpocket a nameless thug on the streets. As luck would dictate for her, the technique backfired just as she had gotten hold of some spare change, wherein the man noticed her and pulled a knife, threatening to cut her throat over something as simple as quarters and nickels.

Naturally, she ran away as fast as she could into the alleyways, only to be cornered by the dagger wielding hoodlum. Just as she was paralyzed by fear of what was to come, the thug was quickly dispatched by a Jaegar by the name of Tizona. Grateful to the hunter who saved her life, Ruby (despite Tizona's complaints and reservations) tagged along, eventually falling in with the Accord and the Jaegar crowd and being christened 'Kusanagi' by the Accord's leaders.

'Kusanagi' has served the First Accord of Mages for seven years, and in that time has grown to be a more strict figure with an appreciation for authority and strength. But even still, the childish Ruby has remained with the hardened swordswoman for all of her years, her idealism and wit unfading even as she grew old and jaded as a hunter.

Theme: Monster Without A Name

Short RP Sample: You can't make me, you blimey bastard!

You know, I was originally going to make her story extremely morbid, but writing it sent me into a depression, so I rewrote it to this instead. This version of her can still speak.

Age: 28
Gender: Female

Ruby may never be able to participate in debate, she does not hesitate to show scorn to 'Mage Supremacists' and 'Noblebloods', despite serving the former, albeit reluctantly.

Even if it is plain for all to see that Ruby puts her duty above all else, even her own rest and well being, she does show compassion to students who are mistreated by those around them. She will never be able to say a single word, but she is always there for the students that need a helping hand, for she knows all too well what it is like to be neglected and alone.
