Purgatory: The City at The Edge of No Where.Name: Maruc Gauve
Years in Purgatory: Unknown. He predates Violet by a large amount.
Occupation: Keeps to himself on the edges of Purgatory, collecting art and mementos from the previous world.
Appearance
Character Bio: Not much is known about the man called Maruc Gauve, but in Purgatory, that in itself can be enough. Rich, old souls tired of life but still fearful of true death are neither unheard of nor unusual in the City of Eternity, but in some ways the mystery around Maruc - impenetrably guarded in the most part, yet still easily pierced in others - has excited more attention than most. He fell in the middle of two extremes, between the sordid socialites and forgotten hermits. He gave receptions - but not too often - and sought reminders of the old life - but not too eagerly. He chased items for his collection as many did, and along the way ventured into enough dark corners and suspicious corners to gain a reputation for that sort of thing. This, combined with the occasional event just as he was fading from the city's collective memory, kept him alive in that sense, but he never did either often enough to do more than temporarily turn a head or two. However, things are changing in recent years. The mansion, never exquisite in the best of times, is barely even worthy of its name, and though he has been long forgotten by most, his last event was many decades ago. Though many would say he had finally snapped, it would seen otherwise - the latest round of mauve envelopes has swept the city. Just another one of his banal parties? Or something different, as the sparse, random, and utterly nonsensical guest list might suggest?
Personality: Not really a terribly guy, just someone who prefers the solitude. One might say his social and moral standards may have withered over the years, but that would be assuming he had them in the first place. His mode of thought is not entirely rational and utterly different from commonly held codes of ethics.
Likes and Dislikes: Likes: Art. His solitude. Collecting things, not all of which are related to art. Dislikes: People meddling in his business, things not going as planned.
Alignment: Wouldn't it be great to know?
