Purgatory: The City at The Edge of No Where.Name: Andrew Withers
Age: 35.
Years in Purgatory: Circa 1800s.
Occupation: Owns a bar.
Prior Occupation Rich aristocrat from the American South; owned a huge number of large estates/farms, and just as many slaves.
Character Bio: After Withers died, he took a moment to process that he was indeed dead. He remembered his estates, and all his riches and fortunes. He also remembered the Abolitionist Movement gaining traction. But, he didn't know what was going on after that. Andrew Withers was always very business-savvy, and was good at manipulating people to get what he wanted; that and his experience in breaking in slaves meant he knew how to be brutal if he wanted to be.
Andrew, after deciding slavery might not always be accepted in Purgatory, decided to move into the business of alcohol. After all, everyone needs a drink! And so, he sought and found employment in one of the few bars of the city of Purgatory. The businessman slowly but surely rose through the ranks of the bar's employment, until he claimed the bar for himself after the owner unfortunately lost himself in Limbo. Withers found it ironic that he withered away in the real world before dying, but tended not to dwell upon it. With his new ownership of the bar, Withers tended to have a somewhat racist stance - sometimes refusing to employ non-whites, or if he did employ them, he paid them little of whatever Purgatory's currency was. Not only that, but Withers tended to serve whites his better food and alcohol than other races.
However, if he was particularly desperate or wanted more money, he would sometimes temporarily suppress his racism so that he could earn more customers, at least for a while. Withers, despite his attitudes, was often quite the ladies man; he took the title of Southern Gentleman very seriously, often going out of his way to make sure his female customers were satisfied especially - and if they were single and wished to pay him other than with money, well, who was he to deny them? Withers continues to own his bar, now called the Withers' Bar, in peace. Withers' racism has died down in recent years, but he is still noticeably more favored toward white people. Although, it seems, that despite his racist tone at times, he can be more flirtatious with African-American females than Caucasian females; whether this is because he used to be with his slave women or not is still a matter of debate for those who know him.
Withers' goal in his after-life is to run his bar for as long as possible, and considering in the after-life that he'll live forever, as long as he doesn't go to Limbo, he hopes this means forever.
Personality: Formerly a staunch racist; now a semi-racist. He's still very staunchly homophobic, transphobic and overall phobic of things not-white heterosexual. Somewhat brutal; rumored to be a sadistic person in private. Tends to be a "Southern Gentlemanly figure" around women, especially African-American women, as a paradox to his racism. Withers is also quite aristocratic; believing himself to be above others of 'lower standing' - usually meaning those who have jobs of less money-making than he.
How much do you Remember?: He knows he used to be rich, he knows he used to own lots of slaves and such, and he knows he dislikes anything that doesn't belong. That's about as far as it goes; however, he remembers all that's happened in Purgatory to him, thus far, to variable degrees of accuracy.
Likes and Dislikes: Likes his job, money, power, music and (rumored) 'experiences' with women. Dislikes non-whites for the most part, and non-heterosexuals or non-conformists. Also dislikes 'heavier' drinks; prefers wine or beer.
Alignment: He seems to fit the part of 'Lawful Evil'.
Theme: In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Accept the Rules?: [ ] Yes [X] No
If no, reason: I read the Orders, not the rules; but I do accept the Orders.
RP Sample: Twilight of the Galaxy [original version]. Also in the current version.
short summary: Withers is a semi-religious greedy businessman who is ruthless in his endeavors, likely due to his past life, and he owns a bar. He also used to own slaves, and is somewhat of a racist. He acts like a gentleman around the ladies, though, and tries to be as nice as possible to them. Withers is also very brutal sometimes, and is rumored to be a sadist.
