You'll find the most unfortunate things happen without the aid of an Ancient Empire, for we could bolster economies into their golden age, and protect you from the bad guys. And not weaken you.

Do you want to have a meeting with the Supreme Leader of the GKU? The GKU representative will be at the Gala, much to some people's displeasure.

What is the GKU? Is thaIsthe client state? I forgot your nations, xD

But sure

Since my first attempt at a second nation was denied, here it goes for another try; I only want a second nation because then I have more things to use to interact with people.

-Base Information-
=========================================================
Image
Nation Name: The Conglomerate (Also Called: The Syrng Conglomerate)
Government Type: Corporatocratic Oligarchial Directorial Federation.
National Leaders: The Board of Directors (each 'Director' being a CEO or Board member of a corporation within the Conglomerate); identities kept secret, appointed ambassadors act as their 'face'.
Population: 50 Billion.
Star Systems: 15 Systems.
History Of Your Nation: The Conglomerate, also known as the Syrng Conglomerate, is a unique nation in the galaxy. It is a corporatocratic oligarchial directorial federation. That's political and fancy-speak for it is a country run by corporations, corporate interests, and overall run by the Private Sector in all aspects of every day life. Corporations run and control everything; every Corporation owns either a planet or system, and works with other corporations to keep that control. Hence why it could be considered a 'federation'. The Conglomerate's Board of Directors act as the oligarchy and directorate; in simple terms, they are the legislatures, executives and judiciary all in one. If it serves the interests of the Board, the Conglomerate will likely do it; even if it's black market. There are plenty of technically speaking 'black market' corporations that the Board doesn't want to fail, necessarily.

The Conglomerate even has a say in slave trade. It is entirely governed by economic logistics, economics, the Board, what corporations think will earn them the most profit, etc. This makes them very, extremely social with the galaxy economically and politically speaking; although, their popularity may vary. They help buy and sell uncolonized planets, as well as assist in galactic trade. However, they aren't a superpower by a wide margin. Their technology isn't much more advanced than most other regional powers throughout the galaxy, but by far the Conglomerate has something to say in terms of economics with those nations closest to it. The Conglomerate keeps the Board's identities a secret, so as to prevent infiltration or assassination attempts; a representative, known as an Ambassadorial Officer, is elected by the Board to be their 'face' when interacting with other species. Sometimes, multiple AOs are elected at once for multiple nations and interactions with them.

The Conglomerate is an economic powerhouse, to say the least, when it compares to nations closest to it; but there is an obvious disparity when comparing them to the superpowers of the galaxy.
=========================================================
-Military Information-
=========================================================
Military Information: Technology varies dependent upon Corporation.
Military Population: 2.5 Billion-ish.
Military Branches: The United Conglomerate Armed Branch (UCAB); a private, Board-owned corporation dedicated to military and military technology; some funds and such throughout the Conglomerate from international trade and the like go into UCAB to ensure that the Conglomerate can be well defended, as well as laws enforced.
Military Strengths: Efficiency; the UCAB is directly controlled by the Board, thus there is no bureaucracy or mess to go through. Industrial products for weapons and such made by UCAB go directly into UCAB, so self-supplying and self-sufficient.
Military Weaknesses: The size of UCAB and its funding vary upon the Conglomerate's domestic economic position, as well as slightly upon its international economic position.
=========================================================
-Diplomatic/Economic Information-
=========================================================
Languages: Syrng, English, basically fluent in all galactic languages.
Foreign Policy: The Conglomerate has a policy of 'hostile takeover', economically speaking. Basically, they make really good and lucrative trade deals, establish corporate branches in other nations as well as satellite nations, and use those corporations to slowly but surely buy out local government, effectively putting a nation under the Board's authority by proxy. However, this isn't always the case - in most cases, with nations farther away or nations not in its sphere of influence to such a degree, the Conglomerate simply tries to get laissez faire trade deals as well as other economic deals, and is very diplomatic. They rarely use violence other than to defend themselves, but they keep UCAB in good shape just in case.
Number Of Species: Two.
Economic Strengths: The Conglomerate is effectively run by its economy and private interests, thus the country does well if the government is doing well because the government is run by economics and logistics. Industrial and agricultural distribution and the like aren't really an issue.
Economic Weaknesses: If a major corporation, especially a Board Corporation, is beginning to do poorly, it can have adverse effects for the entire Conglomerate.
=========================================================
-Other-
=========================================================
Technological Bases: Mix of various things.
Activity on NS: :p
RP Example: no.
Supporting Factions within your Nation: :p
#Twilight1 - Do Not Remove, as this is to track all Applications

Species Name: Syrng
Appearance: Oddly familiar...
Biology/Anatomy: Green exoskeleton, thin antennae, purple or red eyes. Humanoid form; organs unknown and somehow variable by purpose of Syrng.
Natural Abilities: Psionics/semi-synthetic nature.
Unnatural Abilities: Some possess wings, but rarely; they can fly in atmosphere.
Breathable Gas: Oxygen.
=========================================================
Life Span: 300.
Reproduction: Random Selective Pairing [RSP] for Sexual; Random Genetic Engineering [RGE] for Cloning to prevent Clones from being too genetically similar.
Intelligence Level: Human intellect, if not slightly smarter.
Species Type: Insectohumanoid.
=========================================================
Population Percentage: 60%.
Notable Individuals: N/A.
=========================================================
Brief Description of Species: The Syrng are extremely loyal; and are extremely economical. They care more about money, power, wealth and overall ownership of things and possessions than they do about having so-called 'rights'; this is what has allowed the Board to rule for as long as it has. The Conglomerate expands due to corporate and overall Syrng greed.
#Twilight2 - Do Not Remove, as this is to track all Applications

Species Name: Lyvirk
Appearance: Lyvirks.
Biology/Anatomy: Entirely synthetic; created by the Syrng. They can shift their physiology and overall shape, as well as switch off certain body parts, to appear as any species they are required to for a certain job.
Natural Abilities: Fully synthetic.
Unnatural Abilities: With BioLinks, they can do Psionics [telepathy].
Breathable Gas: None; they are synthetic.
=========================================================
Life Span: A Lyvirk power core lasts about 70 years.
Reproduction: Mass Produced.
Intelligence Level: Sentience varies depending on need.
Species Type: Humanoid, usually.
=========================================================
Population Percentage: 40%.
Notable Individuals: N/A.
=========================================================
Brief Description of Species: The Lyvirks were created as servants/slaves to the Syrng. Their sentience and sapience depends on what the Syrng need them for; as does their shape, size and overall form. Generally speaking, however, they look as pictured above. Very few Lyvirks have been given independence.

Perhaps, but they'd only do so because it serves corporate and economic interest; they're probably going to have other allies that are regional powers, but you'll be their only 'superpower' ally where it's sort of like, "If we scratch your economic back, you scratch our economic back."

I might make a post as the Conglomerate soon, perhaps the Ambassadorial Officer [AO] of the Cho'Dosans informing their leadership that the Board would like for them to come meet one of their Chief Ambassadorial Officers [CAO] to discuss various renewals for economic deals and the like. Or something. I dunno...

Interactions at the gala anyone?

It would also be nice to be put on the map, I did send my claim to you Pret.

Plzen wrote:So I was reading some science fiction, and came across a beautiful idea. I will try to summarize it in my own words.

Galactic Legal Concept: The Right to Continued Existence.

In the event that a conclusion of a war involves the transfer of a populated celestial body from the defeated to the victor, the victorious power shall assume responsibility for the cost of relocating the population of that celestial body, and as much of the planet's infrastructure as is necessary to guarantee the continued survival of the population, to a suitable replacement.

This could be the start of some kind of a galactic Geneva Convention.

Any thoughts on this?

The Forklis could deal with this
Alinora wrote:There really should be Galactic War Laws like

-No glassing planets
-No using FTL for combat purposes (going light speed into an enemy ship)
-No targeting civilians and that shit

1. Sure. The Forklis don't have any of those yet anyway
2. The Forklis have no idea how one would do that
3. What are these civilians you speak of?

Any galactic law would be subject to something I borrowed from the Formics for the Forklis: backwards selective memory. As in, a promise could be made, but later broken and the hive queen in question would literally forget that the event ever occurred.

Depeds on what you mean by the edge of the sphere of influence.

A sphere of influence has no distinct edge, really. It fades from heavily-influenced states right on the border right out to those faraway nations where your "influence" amounts to the nation giving yours a thought in major decisions.

I mean you're at the sort of border wherein you're far away enough where the Conglomerate and its corporatocratic ideologue isn't a huge issue, nor does it give human corporations any ideas; but close enough where the Conglomerate might be a major trading partner, and might have some corporations operating within your borders...

If you can get through the stiff tariffs, the bureaucratic red tape, the exchange fees on United Nations Credits, the exorbitant minimum wage, and still somehow make a profit, I don't see why not.

Do note that UNS counterespionage legislation forbids the selling of intelligent UNS AIs and robots to foreign buyers, so your corporations will have to do without.

The Conglomerate has its own synthetics that it created, so no worries there. Also, I'm sure the Conglomerate has poked around and asked some human corporations where the sweet spots are for any corruption in the UNS government; allowing it to not worry about all those silly things. Synthetics which aren't sentient probably don't get minimum wage by UNS law standards, right? So they probably use synthetics as slaves to do whatever needs be done while operating in UNS borders; allowing them to make nothing but profit, aside from any money they have to pay the UNS of course.

And, alright then. I'll probably include you in my post for the Conglomerate, saying the Board contacted you, claiming that a CAO is coming to the UNS to renew economic and trade deals and the like.
