I can understand thhe no glassing planets thing. The other two... Eh.

Why not use FTL drives as a weapon? It is horrifying, inhumane, and the resulting mess is likely to be disgusting, but the same is true of a ton of metal at 0.9c.

Civilians? Why not target civilians? I mean, destroying an enemy ship in battle is all fine and good, but it's much better and easier to destroy it on the assembly yard. Even better - destroy it when it's still molten metal in a refinery.

Well, IRL, the Hague Convention was signed in 1899, before the League of Nations existed. So I don't see why a specialized enforcement agency is necessary.

A law is practically useless if it cannot be enforced. This would be the point of an intergalactic organization- to ensure that nations follow such conventions.

I find nothing wrong with a completely useless law. I mean, none of the major belligerents of WWI abided by the Hague Conventions, but the Hague Conventions are still a key cornerstone of international diplomacy.

Then what is the point of making these laws in the first place? It's a waste of time unless you can enforce it.

I guess you could do it, but you might as well establish a galactic government along with it, or else it is a waste of time.

Propaganda and diplomacy.

Also it helps keep minor wars more civilized. The rules of war might be ignored in struggles of existence, but no country is going to ignore the galactic equivalent of the Hague Conventions for some irrelevant border clash.

I think you are being a bit too optimistic and naive, Plzen.

My nation, the Reformed Covenant, is an authoritarian dictatorship that could care little for any sort of galactic laws. The Covenant will use any means necessary to win a war.

As I said before, these laws couldn't be enforced without a galactic government, so they are irrelevant.

What about pulling a Harvester from Independence Day and harvesting the planet's core and metals for usage in making new ships and the like in the future, leaving the planet literally hollow and caving in on itself?

Oh, shit, yeah. Sorry. The aliens' actual names aren't revealed; but the first time they were here in the first Independence Day, they were trying to harvest the earth's core; they tried again with a BIGGER ship and BIGGER queen in Resurgence. Hence why I call them the Harvesters.

But that's the one and only spoiler I'll give.

I mean, that's pretty much destroying the planet, so I guess that'd be banned...

I like this RP,but I haven't had any interaction in days.

Do you want to have a meeting with the Supreme Leader of the GKU? The GKU representative will be at the Gala, much to some people's displeasure.
