Ordei. He has an "Empire of the Sun", which for whatever reason was allowed to have vassals covering a few times more territory than the actual empire does.

Or you could just join the client states. Here is my app as a client state. You don't have to be the one nation that is sane.

Excuse me? Did you just call my human give mind that genetically engineers its people and implants them with neural communications devices to increase efficiency everywhere sane?!

Pragmatic? Yes. Moral? No. Sane? Not likely.

Anyway, I don't think my already half-finished app would fit as a vassal state.

Well, look at it this way. An empire whose strength is primarily derived from its array of satellites and puppet states would be much easier to dismantle, diplomatically speaking, than an equivalent empire that is legally a single nation-state.

Taking star-systems away from a well-established, highly-developed nation-state has a prohibitive diplomatic and social cost, whereas changing "your vassals" into "my vassals" can be done just with the installing of a few supposedly "free" governments.

The Empire of the Sun will be extremely difficult to defeat, but it will, once defeated, be relatively easy and straightforward to dismantle.

Every advantage has its downsides. This is no exception.

What's the downside to the advantage of having a border that breaks sensors and such?

Cannot be answered without more relevant information. What exact category is "sensors and such"? How does this barrier work? What is the cause of its existence? et cetera, et cetera...

Ordei wrote:“The Uncharted Regions are the greatest mystery of space in this modern age, for they have been dangerous for centuries, and it is only now that the races living there have begun to crawl out of their local hypermarket, or star-orbiting cantina, and interact with the rest of the galaxy. People have always wondered about the Uncharted Regions, a part of space impenetrable to most sensors until you get there, aside from those made in these lands of course. Referred to as the Danger Lands by those worried of monsters of the deepest sea of all, the story of these lands began quite a long time ago on the planet of Ordei, and culminated with the entrance of the Empire of the Sun into the galactic scene (well, their first official spotting, anyways), the Empire being one of the greatest nations in a part of space mostly empty of sentient life.

All I got.

I'm extremely sorry for dropping out of nowhere from the last rp, I'm especially sorry to Gambia. Can I still join this one?

The border dampens all forms of sensor technology, but the inside of the Danger Lands only blocks certain types. From atsronomy centers, the border can be detected as a silhouette. Within the Danger Lands, only a piece of hardware mads there will allow sensors to work withoutaid, otherwisethey only work in proximity,

Sensors and such includes sensors, and everything to do with sensors but basic navigation, amd already discovered data.

It is caused by a strange type of matter permeating that area of space. I can't tell you how it works in scientific terms, so let's just say that it does, indeed, work.

Creating the hardware required for sensors to function would take time, and most likely a couple generations of thattechnology, as well as data gathereddirectly from the region

Pretty much, but you'd struggle to handle some of the population, have to deal with rebels and the Order of the Thoughtful, and you will have the possibility of destabilizing a region knowj for its widespread peace.

Our advanrage is that difficulty to defeat as a result of a large Imperial military, many satellites, and many client states. Ordei can be dismantled easily, but it might be more trouble than it's worth after it is, or it could end up being the perfect part of the galaxy to settle down.

If I am defeated, though, I assure you thay numerous factions will seek more power, or control of all former territories of the Empire.
