Hows this looking so far?

Great, except the ruler of a despotate would be a despote (analogous to the Byzantine Empire).

I thought despot was just an oppressive ruler

*googles*

Okay I was wrong,is their anyway I could change the name to Papal state of Phocasia?

Unfortunately, that would change the histories of some of the already accepted nations. However, you could make it a diarchy with the Despot being the secular arm of the Papal power.

Probably yes for either, but the Imperium has enough enemies at this point imo. Perhaps some allied frontiersmen would be nice to have around.

History of Nation: Losing the civil war almost sent the Despotate into civil war, it was only the threat of a renewed invasion by the Empire that kept the worlds united. Just decades after the end of the civil war a Heresy grew within the Despot. It claimed that the Catholic faith of the empire was corrupt to the core, and that a new Catholicism needed to save the souls of the masses. While usually the duty of the Despot would be to annihilate such Heresy, the memory of that the Church had opposed them in the civil war was still close. The Church being centered in the Empire was already causing problems. The Despot imposed the religion top-down upon his subjects, using newly raised fanatics to form legions who genuinely believed the righteousness of purging entire planets of the old faith. Religious strife and countless minor rebellions plagued the Despotate but the sheer authority and power centered on the Despot allowed each rebellion to be crushed and each world to be converted.

The new faith gave it's total loyalty to the Despot, he was treated as a living saint and when the original leader of the Heresy died the Cardinals almost immediately declared the Despot to be the new leader of the faith. A century later the role of Despot and Phocasia Catholic Pope had become synonymous.

The sheer power centered in the Despot's hands is incredible, he has absolute power not only over his subjects earthly will, but over their spiritual one as well.

b]Nation:[/b] The Kingdom of the Northmen
Flag, Emblem, or Sigil: http://img02.deviantart.net/8ee1/i/2012 ... 5grleo.png
Location on Galactic Map: That weird penninusla like area in the northern rim of the Galaxy
Primary Species: Nordic Human
Primary Religion: Nordic Christianity with Nordic Paganism a close second
Type of Government: Elective Monarchy
Head of State*: King Arnljot The Wolf Karisson
Head of Government: King Arnljot The Wolf Karisson
Colonies*: about 300,000
Foreign Policy*: They tend to be aggressive to all nations outside the northern rim and suspicious of those inside it.
Allies: No one
Size and Quality of Military: The Nordic military is heavily armed and is built to raid and perfrom crushinh offensives against its foes. It tends to do quick powerful attacks with rumors that its ships can reach a variety of planets and leave before a response team could arrive. When it comes to invasions it brings out its full brunt using both heavy bombardment and firepower to destroy the enemy. They have about 65,000 ships and about 12 billion warriors.
History of Nation:[/b The people of the northern rim where originally settlers that chose to settle in the fringes of the known Galaxy to mine the variety of minerals that was in the region, the settlers had little to no contact with the home world until one day communication just ceased with earth all together, this was caused by a EMP blast from a unknown source, some say it one purpose by some of the mining corporations to govern the area itself but if it was it backfired horribly as the whole sector fell into anarchy and chaos, all signs of civilization collapsed as the corporations where either destroyed or driven out of the sector. The settlers where placed into a new age of tribalism with warfare between the planets becoming common as they fought for the resources of the Northern Rim what little there was. Through the centuries the descendants of the mainly Nordic people readopted the old ways of their Terran ancestors but contact was not reached by other civilizations until a Imperial Scouting party stumbled upon the Nords who immediately attack them and stole a map off the scouts which revealed the greater galaxy as a whole. Stunned by seeing opportunity they began small scale raiding but was considered more of a pest than a threat, that is until Olaf "bloodyaxe" Hakson united the Nordic tribes. The raids got wrose under his rule and colonies near the northern rim had to fortify unless they wanted to face the wrath of the Northmen. The 300 years if their history saw the introduction of Terran Catholism into their realm but it is still a minority religion compared to the Old ways. But the Nords had never tried to invade outside the northern rim, but with the election of Arnljot The Wolf Karisson and the communications silence many settlers near the northern rim fear that the wrath of the North men will soon come upon them.

Character Appearance: http://pre12.deviantart.net/ea48/th/pre ... 6tgbwh.jpg
Character Strengths: A skilled warrior and commander
Character Weaknesses : Drinks heavily, very greedy
Religion: Nordic Pagansim
Character Bio: Arnljot was born in the Planet of Breeholm to the jarl of the Nihilem sector, Growing up he was trained his father to become a great warrior for his people so he would bring honor to his clan and his sector. He was shown to be a capable orgainizer who was able to not only keep warriors in line but also the peasants. Eventually his father died in battle with a rival jarl during a civil war in the Kingdom and Arnjot became jarl and supported the old king who won the civil war but with high cost. Arn was selected as Marshal for the kingdom who began to help rebuild the kingdoms forces. During one of his raids he kidnapped a Orion woman who would later become his wife who bore him two sons over a period two years, with the issue of heir out of the ways he was ready to look for a greater prize the throne of the Nords. He began doing great deeds in the name of the Gods and the Realm in hopes of winning votes when the king dies. And sure enough when his leige died he beat five other candidate and was elected king of the Nords. He has temporarily called off all raids on the outsiders for unforseen reasons. It is feared that he is preparing an invasion of the south landers whether this is true or not the lack of communications coming from their planets makes it even more mysterious and possible dangerous.

What kind of ship technology does this universe have? I can't see anything like that about the lore. Is it warp or hyper speed? Do they have phasers, or lasers, or cannons? Do the ships have shields - do cloaks exist? What kind of size is the average battleship - would a crew in the thousands be ridiculous?

Well, I for one has been using cannon firing very large shells for my ships, and in my IC posts I referred to ships having shields, so I'd assume yes on those.

Character Name: Ameuph Walker
Character Age: 54
Character Gender: Male
Character Appearance:
Image

Character Strengths: Walker is a shrewd and canny tactical operator. He understands how to win battles, and how to get what he's after. Can be charming and convincing when he desires to be. Active and focused.
Character Weaknesses: Can be consumed by revenge. Little regard for others. Ruthless, and unforgiving, and will refuse to bargain with those he fundamentally objects to.
Religion: Atheist. Where he's from, no gods can help you.
Character Bio: An orphan on one of the Terran Empire's outer colonies, Walker does not remember his parents or even which system he was born in. He spent his early years living by his wits as a scapegrace among the depths of society - 'entertainers', gangs, prostitutes, scavengers, and other ne'er-do-wells on the fringes. His youth was spent in a grey borderland where the near-outcast mingled with shadowy figures and thrill seekers come down from safer climes. Walker understands that the law only applies to those caught by the enforcers, and that a life is worth only as much as is spent on keeping it. Walker has carried these hard learnt lessons into his later life.

It was one night, in the depths of the pit he called home, Walker was press-ganged into the Imperial Navy. Forced to undertake strenuous journeys as a crew member of the Terran fleet, he toiled under the overseer's lash for many years. How he managed to escape is a secret he rarely shares, but he has sworn to never be a puppet or pawn in someone else's game again. He vouched that one day his captors would remember the offences they did to him and regret it. It is for this reason Walker goes about his missions, his jobs. To achieve vengeance on the most powerful empire in the galaxy.

Out of the Navy, Walker joined the crew of a low grade trading ship. Walker built up a close relationship with the captain, and, as one of the few crewmembers who was not constantly coming and going, was gifted the ship when he retired. With it, Walker continued to build a trade fleet, partly through gambling, force, charm and building alliances and making deals with other traders. Within 15 years of leaving the Imperial Navy, Walker had his own capital ship along with a smattering of smaller vessels. He became better known throughout the systems he operated in, gaining good contacts in the administration of the Terran Empire. And not only that, he was getting closer and closer to being able to exact his revenge on his former masters.

Fleet
The Cicada - capital ship, very heavily armed and armoured. 8000 crew. 800 marines, and another 400 fighters on board. Pride of the fleet and flagship. Won in a high level bet from a pirate warlord. Acquired through force. Can easily take on any Imperial battleship.
The Adept - a medium sized battle carrier. Equipped to hold 500 craft. Strong defensive shielding, weaponry and armour. Formerly a fully equipped war vessel. 1200 crew. 200 marines. Commanded by Walker's deputy, Aran Mason.
The Saracen and the Light of Damo - two corvettes, lightly armoured and maneuvorable. Effectively act as escorts/scout ships. Each has a complement of 30 fighters/utility vessels on board. 400 crew. Commanded by two of Walker's most trusted lieutenants.
The Morthri Express - a former mining colony security vessel. 200 crew. Modified for interstellar travel.
Cantharan schooners - six of them. Mostly purchased broken, but repaired. Highly maneuverable and heavily armed.
Cargo ships - eight, but others occasionally on the payroll.
Smaller vessels- usually former raider ships or pirate vessels. Quick, maneuverable. Some relatively heavily armed, but not compared to larger ships. A dozen scattered throughout the fleet currently.
