The room was sealed with ice, so unless Dagon wants to get an icepick and start chipping, he can't get in.

It depends. If they're humanoid, and them not being human doesn't cause major differences in behavior and such, and there's a reason for being nonhuman (part of their powers or something), sure. Having a bunch of different species makes interactions difficult in my opinion, so keep it close to human.
