"Governor, you aren't aware of the nuances of a declaration of war, which is understandable. I don't hold you at fault for that. But legitimacy for these organizations means that they can go around with their propaganda campaigns in foreign countries, and believe it or not Governor, propaganda is one of their most effective tools. If the Congress passes the AUMF, which ensures the exact same result as a declaration of war minus that setback, then we can take them out."

"No, Senator, that's not it. They haven't passed it because you disappeared. You introduced it-and ran off to the campaign trail, never to be seen on the Senate floor again."

"You are a fraud, Senator Conti. You act as if you care only enough to try to squeeze out support. If you cared, you wouldn't been schmoozing with donors-you would be fighting for action. If you cared, you wouldn't be being offended about words, you would be taking action. If you cared, you would bother to prepare for the position that you want. The Presidency is a responsibility, Senator. It requires determination, skill, work, experience, and knowledge. You decided you didn't need any of that. You come up hear without a clue, without policy, and without a plan, and think you can make your way to the presidency with a few snappy comebacks, and making people feel sorry for you."

Governors, Senators, please. We are moving on to the closing.

One, final, question, in closing. You will go in the order of the opening. A President has many responsibilities and powers-but if you could do one, single thing in the Presidency-only one, what would you do?"

"I'm going to fix the economy. I did it in New Hampshire, and I can do it in the United States of America. Unemployment, underpayment, the wage gap, stagnant pay, the decline of the middle class, the loss of jobs-we face great problems, and I will fight to my last breath to resolve them. If elected, I will make this once again an economy that works for everyone-and that, is a promise."

Welcome to WSAZ, Channel 3, for tonight's gubernatorial debates. We have the candidates from the Republican, Democratic, and Mountain Party here before you to lay out the case for why they deserve to be the next Governor of this great state. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome our candidates with a showing of some good West Virginia hospitality.

Sheriff Sinclair strode onto the stage, waving with both hands, smiling broadly.

"Hello, good people of West Virginia. Thank you for putting me on this stage tonight, so I can tell you a tale, a tale about how West Virginia could be. Right now, it doesn't take a genius to see that our infrastructure is a mess, our education systems one of the worst in the nation, and we have an economy on a sharp downward turn thanks to the elites and their war on not only coal, but our way of life. When I am made governor, we wont stand for any more of this crap! The West Virginian is a simple folk, we value honor, hard work, and family, something our state government in Charleston and our federal govment in Washington seem to forget. But no more, my friends, no more. West Virginia will be back on the right track, with a government of, by, and for the people!"

As State Senator Abraham Blocker(D) strut up to the stage, polished, teeth shined, the epitome of the politician.

'Hello West Virginians, I was born the son of two coal miners and they truly lived the American Dream. I was able to work hard in High School, and eventually get out of the mines and went to university. I was able to find my happiness there, working 10 years in Fairfax County working as an IT consultant, there I met some fantastic people. However, I felt like I had an unrepaid debt to my home state of West Virginia to serve as a state representative where I created numerous bills to lift the needy out of poverty. So I hope that you can give me your vote November 8th, and I will work tirelessly in Washington to help the people of this state the right to pursue happiness. Thank you."

“West Virginiaaaaa! I love this state, truly diiiivvvvviiiiinnnneeeee. But I must say, it needs serious fixing. How? I’ll tell y’all how. The people of this great state are being oppressed! We have a high poverty rate and that is something not only we have to address but something we have got to fight for! The state needs to care for them and we need to get this people back on their feet! It is the West Virginian way! Because I believe in universal health care and I think we all should for the sake of our neighbor and our state! And there are numerous other issues we have got. And if y'all lend me your ears tonight, I'll show you the true person, yes a woman too, for this job!”

Thank you all for being here. We're going to start off on something that really impacts everyone here-the economy. There has been a great deal of talk recently on the coal industry here in this state, but over 97% of West Virginians work in industries other than coal. This is a question for Senator Blocker, and anyone can answer after him-how would you seek to grow the economy of West Virginia for those 97%?
