Peter Amaras

Amaras took his pair of patches as they came around, with a slight smile of amusement. "Very cute," he complimented, though the praise's tone could see it perceived as backhanded. He had not specifically expected something of the sort with the setting up of a female captain for the team, but it was not too surprising of a development to see something like this emerge from that choice.

The comment seemed pretty openly patronizing to Kristen and she didn't like it at all, but she wasn't going to risk messing things up by saying something, so she buried a response and finished handing out the patches.

Jason went over to the mound and began getting comfortable with it, stretching and finding his stance. Grabbing a ball he turned to Jared "Ready?"

Wilson applies the patches, the American flag on his right, and the GOP elephant on his right shoulder. He chose to do that to not cover up the “NY” on the uniform. A Republican carried the state and another was governor. New York was now for four years, a red state.

"Ready and waiting"

Jason started out simple, an accurate and easy right handed fast ball. After a few of those Jason began to vary things up first showing his peak speed (impressive for his age, clearly he had been practicing) and then various trick balls, slides and curves, all right handed. In the end he demonstrated excellent ball control and a variety of techniques in his arsenal, his main disadvantage was speed.

"I stretched out earlier," Amaras claimed, as he fiddled with the patches, and eventually decided to just track down Linda Sue and have her apply them.

"I'll see you all back in the dugout," he noted in farewell, and turned to leave.

McGareth takes the elephant patch to put on. He already has one of the flag on his sleeve before he came to the game. He doubts it when he hears Amaras say he has stretched but is not interested in conflict. Instead he makes a statement then asks a question.

"I also already stretched." He says honestly.

"Do you want me to warm up pitching or stretch with the team?" His voice is neutral and does not favor either of the options.

Lee Appleby

Appleby departed the disassembly group without any further comment, making his way out towards the bullpens to warm up his own arm, bag of balls carried along in his right hand. He idly watched the Republican group assembled there as he walked, passing some distance of, offering no greeting.

Senator Ashe smiled as Kristen pulled out the patches and explained them to the team. He was wearing an NC State collegiate baseball jersey, which could appear odd considering that the college was not one of his two alma maters: Wake Forest or UNC. Perhaps he went for red because of being on the Republican team, perhaps he just didn't have a UNC on hand. He put the American flag patch on his sleeve as instructed and the GOP elephant on the left side of his chest.

Ashe then got ready to follow along as Kristen led the group through some stretching. He'd already been in the outfield stretching but, unlike Amaras, decided to stay and continue working through stretches instead of heading to the dugout.

Senator Kramer had until now been considering the options available, whilst one part of him wanted to go to the dugout with Senator Amaras it was grappled by a equally strong sense that he should stay and practice some stretches. Ultimately, however, it was the latter that took hold and Kramer stayed put in preparation for the stretches.

Kristen smiled at McGareth. "I think it's good if we all stretch together as a team. There should still be time for warming up later." She was loud enough to make sure Amaras could hear her, but didn't make the point too obvious. "All right guys, circle up around me and I'll take you through it all. Just make sure to pace yourselves and go at your own pace with these. We all have capabilities that are a little different, but listen to your body, don't give up because of a little burn but be safe. I'd rather you get a little less stretched then a lot more injured. All ready? Let's start!"

Kristen started going through a series of stretches, starting off on the ground with different kinds and working them all up to standing and light aerobics in place to warm up. She could still bend herself around like a pretzel and always enjoyed some easy stretching, plus leading the team in them was fun.

Vilseck was still in the stands watching the teams warm up and cringing at the little spat between Samara and Appleby, but he decided he could use some conversation even if there weren't any Democrats around. He recognized a Republican congressman that he was aiming to take down in 2018 but that was still more than a year away and that didn't mean that they couldn't be friendly. He scootched down a couple rows next to Morton. "Is this seat taken?"

Morton turned to see who was addressing him, then recognized who the voice belonged to: Vilseck. He decided that the party man’s company was much more welcome than Nobody.

After looking around as if to see who else was watching, he shook his head no and tried to open up a conversation on neutral ground.

“Seems like we’re in for quite a ball game today.”
