After a brief stop at the food table-well, two brief stops-Peter Amaras was wiping off his mouth and making his way back into the ball's crowd for a look around. The most perhaps unintentially amusing sight he noticed was the loops the young Senator from Arkansas was making on the floor, looking for something, obviously. Having not yet gotten the chance to actually be formally introduced to his new neighbor, he decided to do the neighborly thing, and strolled up.

"Good evening, Senator Von Degurechaff." He greeted her, surprisingly pronouncing the name correctly. "I don't believe we've been ever formally introduced as Senate neighbors. Peter Amaras, of Iowa." He offered a meaty hand from above that dwarfed hers.

Tanya relieved that there was finally someone to talk to, got on her tip toes and shook the man's large hand. "It's good to meet you Senator Amaras. I've gotta tell you, I've been around large crowds before, but this is taking it to a new level." She sighs "I'm not really sure what to do, what I should say. I haven't really gone to anything this big, sure I've been to my fair share of business conventions, and the like, but being here in this room is something entirely different. I just needed to get that off my chest, sorry if I brought the mood down or anything."

But of course not-this is a huge event, a generational event, even, and it's only natural to feel overwhelmed. I was nervous when I attended some of my first few big events too." That was an overexaggeration, Amaras knew, but it was meant to be comforting. "A little bit of productive paranoia isn't a bad thing. This is a city with many bad people. But, from what I've heard about you, I think you're up for the challenge."

"Yeah, you can call me Tanya, I don't really mind when- wait you've heard about me? Thanks for the compliment but I don't know what about me would be enough to capture the attention of another senator." Tanya turns red from embarrassment as her heart starts racing. Tanya knew what he was probably talking about, but she had imagine the story had gotten a few minutes of news at best, not enough air time to capture the attention of a senator from multiple States away.

Amaras was astute enough, not that it would have taken much, to notice the Senator's blushing, and so eased off slightly.

"I've just made it a habit to read about some of my fellow Senators that I might be working with, to see what they're like." Amaras explained. "I'd read about your service, and I thought it was very impressive. All good things, of course."

Amaras was astute enough, not that it would have taken much, to notice the Senator's blushing, and so eased off slightly.

"I've just made it a habit to read about some of my fellow Senators that I might be working with, to see what they're like." Amaras explained. "I'd read about your service, and I thought it was very impressive. All good things, of course."

A quick grumble of her belly helps ease the tension that Tanya felt "Well thank you. I felt the need for something to be done, and I was the one on call. Have you had any of the food yet? My stature has kind of, how should I say this, left me with an empty stomach." Another growl came from her stomach, this time loud enough for the fellow senator to hear.

Amaras flushed briefly at the perception that this was a jab at his own weight, but managed to force it down. "I did stop by earlier this evening. I'm sure they have something you'll like."

"If were neighbors, we should get to know each other well, so is there anything you'd like to know about me? I'd be happy to share." Tanya decided that making a friend now would be the best course of action to keep herself ready for whenever she decided to try to push that bill. "Also ask away."

Governor Drumpf arrived the inaugural ball with his son Andrew Drumpf, a state Representative in New York, and also for some reason a liberal Democrat. He did not care he still loved his son. Drumpf being the tremendously well loved rich person that he was decided to custom make an entirely new suit for the ball courtesy of his tailor, Mr. Jean De Jacques! He was intent on having a good time, maybe grabbing a few women in the nether regions without their permission, while they were not looking. He scanned the room looking for a hot chick that he could bang, then he spotted... HIM!

It was Dum-Dum Troy Wilson! The autistic retard from Wyoming with a hideously deformed woman right beside him, someone he could only assume was his sister. Everyone knows that Dum-Dum Troy Wilson goes to Disneyland by himself, and randomly seizes up standing for hours motionless for no particular reason. He hated everything about Dum-Dum Troy Wilson, his malformed face, his retarded IQ unlike his tremendously high IQ, and his sh*t face of an inbred sister. Drumpf frowned and decided to give Dum-Dum Troy Wilson a piece of his mind.

"Let's get a drink while we talk." Amaras suggested, leading her over towards the nearby bar. He took another glass of grape juice himself, while offering her whatever she preferred. "Where did you go to school?"

María Antonieta had headed back to her house after the luncheon to prepare for the inaugural ball. This is something she has been anticipating for a long time and she is very ready to make her appearance there.

She bathes when she gets back and scrubs vigorously all across her body. Then then goes and spends some time setting up her hair carefully and brushes it after washing it to make sure it flows back nicely. Makeup is carefully applied. Her nails are trimmed and colorfully painted in a vibrant red-orange. Everything is shaved.

Then for clothes. Underwear first. Then she slips on the dress that she had been waiting to use. Long, red, and beautiful. On top the dress comes down on a sheer diagonal angle leaving the skin of her right shoulder bare. The silky garment flows down across her body and midsection in a slight twist as it heads to just above her heel raised ankles with just a slight slit on the side. The whole garment shimmers through the vibrant eye-popping scarlet. Slight gold designs of lace trace small paths accentuating the flowing fabric. She spins in it once as a test. It is the most expensive thing she has ever worn. She has two red stilleto heels waiting to finish.

Finally accessories. Two gold stud earrings with the St. Benedictine cross design. A gold wristband on her right wrist. And her crucifix where it always is. A lighter purse than usual. As she slips on the shoes she is ready to go.

She takes a taxi over to the ball. She has her ticket out and ready to give to security. As the Majority Whip she has several tickets that were given to her to distribute if she wanted. She returned all but one. That one ticket that she gave out now comes up to her as Rosa shows up in a dress of her own.

"Did some Senator order an escort?" Rosa asks in a snark.

María Antonieta retorts. 'You wouldn't be qualified. Now go on inside before I regret this stupid decision.'

Rosa does head inside first and María Antonieta lets her free on the room. She stops at the bathroom one more time as Rosa leaves for one more checkup and very slightly adjusts her hair from the short time outside.

Finally ready Senator Villanueva de Peña steps through the door and makes her entrance onto the ballroom floor.

Wilson felt a faint odor pass his nose and sniffed to discover a foul stench on the air.



"Evil Gerald" he hissed.

"What?" Kellecker tried to ask but Troy Wilson was already marching up to the Santa-murdering racist with an angry look on his wonderfully handsome face.

Joanne Winslow

Dressed in a red long dress Joanne made her way inside the ballroom. Despite being married she - once again - came alone. Her husband was busy picking a new house they could move into since Joanne's rented apartament did not necessairly fit her current position as the Majority leader. Other than that Harry isn't the most interesting or social person so they both decided that it would be okay if he didn't show up. Entering Joanne the ballroom managed to notice Senator Villanueva de Peña enter before her with her secretary. Winslow kinda started regretting not bringing Sarah along, but it was to late to fix that.

John Kingston

Senator Kingston and his wife Mary entered the room a few minutes after the Majority Leader. They did not try to make a lot of noise or bring a lot of attention to themselves. John was dressed in a customary suit with his wife wearing a short green dress.

Henry Caldwell

From his facial expression it was easy to tell that Henry wasn't too fond of these types of events. In the past he did not attend the inaugurall ball, not necessarily to make a statement - he just didn't feel the need to. However this year the situation was different. As the Deputy Minority Leader he felt that it was required of him to show up. Even if the position meant little. His mood didn't change the fact that he had to wear a nice suit. As a man he didn't have much problems with making a choice, however his wife Nancy had. In the end she decided to wear a long blue dress with an addition of a small fake-diamond necklace which Henry gave her years ago as a gift, before their marriage.

Patton

The Governor arrived with her husband, Former Defense Secretary Robert Armstrong, on her arm, the two of them deep in conversation regarding the merits of one of the new President's cabinet members.

"Overstein is a real killer Claudia, I think you underestimate his willingness to do whatever it takes to prove his loyalty." he said, his free hand scratching a spot on his face that was continuously giving him a hard time. His wife was using hers to accept a flute of refreshing sparkling water from a passerby, which she promptly drank from before replying.

"President Reed is not a child Robert, his height should tell you as much. Overstein is too dirty a character to be slinking around the White House at the start of an administration in any capacity, even if it's only the VA."

"Clean doesn't win wars, political or otherwise."

"Dirty starts them. Remember the outburst you had about (Cheney) on MSNBC when Shrub invaded Iraq-"

"Overstein isn't a (Cheney)."

"We'll see."

The two made their way towards the center of the room, coming into the path of a certain Senator from New Mexico. The Governor's husband couldn't help himself.

"Madam Senator, I've seen you making quite the impact in social media circles, I must say you've done a fine job positioning yourself." Patton caught her husband's hidden joke and maintained her smile, it's nature more genuine now. He outstretched his hand. "Robert Armstrong, nice to meet you."

Tanya grabs the offered drink and responds "Thanks. I went to west point after leaving the military studying business and medicine. Thanks to politicians wanting my endorsement, news shows wanting my views on what's all going on, and my dad's farm business, payment wasn't much of an issue." Tanya drinks some of the Mr.Pibb. "I kept some the money for food and stuff like that, but charity needed it more, and I really don't need much to be happy, that's what my dad taught me growing up. 'Give to others, and God will give to you' is what he'd always say."

She mentally debates if she should go with 'Sir' or 'Mr. Patton', then thinks over that the Governor most likely did not change her name by the time he says 'positioning.' Then he goes and gives her his name anyway and she smiles internally at that. She smiles again. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Armstrong. I suppose my muse tends to speak to me in a hundred and forty characters or less." She then greets his wife. "Also a pleasure to meet you, Governor. If I can say it, that's a lovely dress you have." She compliments honestly impressed by it.

Unfortunately, Sam McGareth had to leave his service pistol behind for the party. Other than that, he is having a great time. Fresh in a suit and bow tie and even with his sunglasses off for once he strolls around the ballroom randomly greeting different people and having a gay old time. He has even managed to get Katherine to come along with him though she still does not seem very happy even in what he thinks is an extremely attractive blue dress. She is still following alongside him for the moment right now. He slides up to the bar and drops his elbows on the table next to Rossi and Stone. "Any non-alcoholic beer?" he asks.

"You went to West Point after leaving the military? That's interesting." Amaras commented, holding his glass in his hand, letting her finish her charitable comments. "Your father sounds like a wise man." He coughed once. "Excuse me." He returned to the conversation. "I went to the Stern School of Business myself."

"Stern huh. I know a guy from high school that went there. He's actually a company lawyer. He mainly works for McDonald's, his name was John Dali-Ali. It's amazing how small the world is." Tanya's phone vibrates "excuse me for a moment." She pulls the iPhone out to her ear. "Oh hi mom... no you aren't interrupting anything. I was just talking to another senator. Yeah mom. Yes I'm having fun. It's Sen.Amaras from Iowa. Thanks for checking up on me. Bye." Tanya puts the phone away. "Anyways, where were we? Oh yeah, stern. What were you studying?"

Amaras swallowed, lips pursed, then offered a rather glazed smile. "Well, business." He gave a chuckle that sounded a bit fake.

Tanya slightly chuckles "well, I mean, I probably should've seen that coming." Tanya sighs. "I wonder what our professors think about us now, what with us being in congress and all that."

Governor Patton's smile was fully genuine now. "Why thank you, it was made by a friend of mine some time ago. I'm just glad it still fits." She joked, causing her husband to chuckle slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, you look great yourself. " Patton thought about how it was possible for the woman in front of her to propose the literal lashing of convicts before she continued. "No date tonight?" she both observed and asked.
