Governor Stephens saw Representative Rossi walk up to the bar. As she orders her drinks, he notices her uneasiness. The governor gets her attention and sticks out his hand to shake hers. “Hello ma’am, name’s Doug Stephens. Enjoying your juice? I offer you my flask but security took it at the door.”

Carter Roberts interrupted the story about a post-game confrontation he had in the locker room with Larry Bird, which he was telling to a group of baseball players and strangers, when he noticed the Fowlers walking nearby. Knowing Fowler could be a good ally if he made it to the Senate, he turned and introduced himself.

“Pleasure to meet you, my name’s Carter Roberts. Senator and Mrs. Fowler, right?”

Rossi, nursing the simple beverage while still looking around the room from time to time, noticed the older man's attention-grabbing efforts, and scooted over along the bar seats to get closer. Noticing he was looking for a handshake, she slid off the stool to put her small hand in his, the name he gave helping her finally place the face.

"Governor...oh, yes, I think it's, it's good." She cleared her throat and composed herself. "I'm Anna Louisa Rossi. I represent Indiana's Fourth District. It is a pleasure to meet you. I'm...sorry about your flask."

Rossi, nursing the simple beverage while still looking around the room from time to time, noticed the older man's attention-grabbing efforts, and scooted over along the bar seats to get closer. Noticing he was looking for a handshake, she slid off the stool to put her small hand in his, the name he gave helping her finally place the face.

“Nice to meet you ma’am. It’s no big deal about the flask, but President Reed should pay me back for the whiskey in it.
Pleasure to meet you too, by the way. I’m a law professor by occupation, but you probably know me as Governor of Montana. How’s things holding up in Congress?”

Taylor looks a little star struck, Fowler turns to her and says “see I told you” with a smile. “Pleasure to meet you Mr Roberts this is my wife Taylor... she’s a big fan”. He shakes Carters hand and Taylor does the same shaking herself back into her normal self

“Senator, you know how I won so many games as a basketball player? I thought of myself as the winner, before the game ever happened, and through the whole thing. If you put yourself in a winning mindset, you’ll usually win. Well the same applies to elections in my opinion. There’s a lot more to it than that, but if the mind isn’t in the right place, you won’t win.”

Tanya nervously walks her way to to the food, unsure what to say or what to do as she's never been at something this big before. After getting there, she tries to reach for one of the plates, but realizes that she is too small to get them, so she decides to awkwardly wait around until someone noticed her plight.

"Yes, I, um, thought I knew your face." She smiled with some skittishness still noticeable, but attempted to forge forward and make a joke off of what he had just said.

"But, Governor, did I...did I just hear a Libertarian asking for a government handout?"

First a little confused on if the Senator was telling a joke or not, Dr, Stephens caught on somewhere mid-sentence and chuckled a bit. “Well, the way I see it, the feds have been stealing my money for years, so a few dollars back now and then couldn’t hurt anyone.”

Alicia stood at the bar, drink in hand, soaking in the buzz of the room. Looking out on the sea of faces, trying to spot someone she knew. Despite having served a term in the Senate, she was amazed by how few people in Washington she actually knew, quietly wishing her Husband had been able to attend tonight so she wouldn't feel so lonely.

Feeling that she ought to to put something forward, partially just out of a self-realized need to make these kinds of interactions work, she mused a moment and then offered up a basic conversation track.

Kristina Chase walked into the inaugural ball with her cameraman. She was honored that WNN even got invited to do any press at the event, and on top of that, she got to report on it. In the middle of the hectic crowd, they would try to find some people to ask questions. With all these important people in one room, one could expect the inauguration ball to be a great opportunity for newsworthy content.

Tanya had waited long enough for someone to help out, so she decided just go ahead to her seat when she noticed the cameraman and the lady walk in. She thought of a few things she could do to mess with the presenter, but ultimately decided that it was childish to do so, and her little self couldn't afford another reason to be called a child. From there Tanya walked out into the crowd to find someone to talk to, or something to do.

Rossi nodded. "Ah, I'm sorry about that..Yes, I'm, ,by myself."

Stephens smiled and told her, “Well, I don’t wanna take up much of your time. Get out there and meet some people, make some friends. I just wanted to tell you that I’ve heard some rumors of how you’re doing in Congress. Keep up the good work! There’s a lot of people out there who believe in you, at least enough to get you elected. So stay the course, represent the people, and you’ll do great.” The governor hoped that this encouragement would be good for the young woman.

Rossi flushed slightly at the praise. "Well...um..thank you, Governor. I'll make sure to do; that. Make friends. Or just represent. I'll just, uh, finish my orange juice first."

Theodore Stone

Theodore walks in, checking the time and date, ranting to himself about him getting there late, and soon, he steps in wearing a very standard formal black suit and blue and red tie, he was pleased with his choice.

This was his first inauguration, he was a somewhat new person in Washington, and he wanted to make some connections if he wanted to stay in Washington. Anyway, he thinks, it's time to step into the fray. He gets ready to speak to anyone that tries to speak to him, he might as well.

He walks over and gets himself a glass of water, nodding to himself at the lack of alcohol in the bar. He looked around awkwardly, hoping something interesting would happen to him, but if not, at least he was there, realizing it was better to be there at all than not to be there.

His first time in Washington as a politician flashed before his eyes for a moment, and he felt a bit of comfort in that. He sees the cameraman and lady walk in, and watches them as they step in.

He takes a sip of water and watches everyone chat and drink while waiting for something to happen.

“Best of luck out there. I’m gon head over and give a Progressive crap about Stalin or something. Have a nice night. Pleasure meeting you again ma’am.” Stephens reached his hand up so as to tip his hat, and realizing that he wasn’t wearing one, did the gesture anyways and walked, Coke in hand, away and around the edge of the crowd.

After a brief stop at the food table-well, two brief stops-Peter Amaras was wiping off his mouth and making his way back into the ball's crowd for a look around. The most perhaps unintentially amusing sight he noticed was the loops the young Senator from Arkansas was making on the floor, looking for something, obviously. Having not yet gotten the chance to actually be formally introduced to his new neighbor, he decided to do the neighborly thing, and strolled up.

"Good evening, Senator Von Degurechaff." He greeted her, surprisingly pronouncing the name correctly. "I don't believe we've been ever formally introduced as Senate neighbors. Peter Amaras, of Iowa." He offered a meaty hand from above that dwarfed hers.

Rossi smiled slightly, but genuinely, at the hat incident, and went back to her orange juice with an blowing out of breath meant to bolster her confidence.

She noticed a man make his own way up to the bar near to her and order a glass of water. Looking over to the side, she viewed him looking about awkwardly, and caught his gaze for a brief moment by accident, before returning her own gaze back down to her nearly-empty glass.
