Joining the procession of politicians who sought to attend the inaugural ball were Republicans Senator Phillip Prejean and Governor Harold Faulkner, as well as the Progressive Representative from Massachusetts, Melvin Freeman. Melvin was among the first of the politicians to have arrived having done so with his wife, Paula, at his side. The Freeman couple make their way over to the food tables, eyeing up the assortment of options, and eventually grab their plates of food to a nearby table - knowing this would likely be a lengthy evening for them, just as it would be for nearly every other politician present for the occasion. Phillip Prejean arrived alone, being that his wife had contracted a rather nasty case of the flu and thus elected to remain home for the night, and hastily made his way to where the drinks were. Harold, meanwhile, arrived a few seconds later - finding himself in the slight-bottleneck that began to form as the invitees had arrived and were being patted down by security. After finally making his way through the doors, Harold simply wanted a quick drink to start off his evening and thus made his way over to the beverages as well.

Denver

Governor Bill Denver arrived at the inaugural ball with his wife Jeanne in tow, despite her initial yet mostly feigned objections to visiting the victory ball of her husband's victorious political enemy. His black suit and green tie set him apart from those who left the political colors at the door, and as he entered the hall room he felt a few pairs of eyes drift to him, some out of respect and some out of disgust. He didn't care. He set out to find the star of the show as he waded through the crowd, his wife smiling and waving at some of the nation's other first gubernatorial ladies.

Image
Locklear

As she walked into the convention center, Helena Locklear took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She was in a room full of the country's top political personalities, true heavyweights, as well as an assortment of celebrities and athletes that she wouldn't mind rubbing shoulders with. Her husband Richard hadn't come along, by design, and while things were getting back on track in their relationship, she didn't want to add fuel to the fire by taking him to the most packed building in America. She wore a red dress that was very conservative in nature and matching shoes, taking care to put on a bit of extra perfume and walk with more confidence than she was used to. She did just that, strutting through the crowds before settling into an accidental conversation with a Democratic State Senator from Wyoming who was rumored to be gearing up to challenge the struggling Troy Wilson.

Image
Yang

Dr. Yang looked beautiful yet imposing. Donning a fashionable dark blue jacket and heels, her strut's confidence was not false as Locklear's was, but totally genuine, and she smiled back at several politicians who smiled at her first. She enjoyed being famous, to whatever degree she was, though not in a way that fooled her into arrogance. She was playing the long game, and if overconfidence was beginning to rear its head, she'd readily send it back to where it came from. Her husband wheeled alongside her, he himself in traditional black formal wear and a matching bowtie. They made their way towards a barely visible Chief of Staff Denisevich with smiled on their faces.

Troy Wilson, the great Senator of Wyoming was coming to the inaugural ball to talk with Calvin Reed about Wyoming's coal and high speed rail and other things. He was very tall and handsome of course so many looked at him in appreciation in his nice suit.

But Troy Wilson has a hole in his heart. He goes to Disney parks by himself because he has not found a wife even though he is six foot five and has an IQ of 142. But things were about to change.

When Troy Wilson was walking to the ball he saw a homeless woman on the side of the street. Because he had good Judeo-Christian values he went over to her and did the right thing. He gave her his money and then he gave her the extra ticket he had to the ball and took her with him.

Image

They went to a dress shop so she could have something to wear and Troy Wilson paid for it and then they went to the ball together.

Troy Wilson leads Mrs. Homeless inside with him to the main ballroom. He looks at the bar and nods approvingly because there is no alcohol. Evil alcohol should pay for what it does.

Image

Troy Wilson takes some of the cheeses that are there for free and feeds them to his new girlfriend Mrs. Homeless.

Don and Margreet Hookstraten, Constitution Ball, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C.

Don still tapped away at his phone, checking Twitter, while his wife stared at the wall, occasionally taking sips of water.

Diane & Bob Lane, Constitution Ball, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C.

The new senator from Wisconsin always liked social events like these, talking and chatting with friends new and old was preferable to a night at home. The Senator wore a purple pantsuit, and her husband, the war and Washington veteran, wore a simple suit. They escorted themselves to their assigned seats, and sat down. Diane was rather intent on that night to properly congratulate Winslow on winning the election, something she hadn't properly done.

James and Julie Rhodes, Constitution Ball, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington D.C.

The Rhodes' attendance was a given at must events, and was especially important to Julie, a woman who always enjoyed socializing with new people, and James himself always like appearing at important political events. Mr. Rhodes wore a tuxedo, and Mrs. Rhodes wore a designer white and black dress. The pair walked to their seats slowly, greeting friends along the way.

Prejean looked on, squinting, as he makes out to be a strange woman in what almost looks like a thrift-shop dress standing arm-in-arm with Senator Wilson.

"What. The. Blazes?"

Phillip remarked, audibly, as he watched Wilson and his female companion meander off with almost nothing but cheese on his plate. Prejean recalled, shortly after, that Wilson has a history of mental illness and thought it better to just ignore it.

'Oh no. Please don't. Please don't. Oh... great. He's doing it. Crap.' Phillip thought to himself, watching Troy Wilson make his way over.

"Hello, Senator and Miss...?" Phillip said, extending out his hand to the homeless lady first, though pausing and awaiting to learn of her name.

"Kellecker" she said before Wilson could say "Homeless". She blushed and wiped off her hand before shaking Prejeans, it was not covered in anything, but had not been washed for a long time.

"Pleasure to meet the lovely lady." Phillip said, shaking hands with Miss Kellecker, though instinctively making an inquisitive face as he caught whiff of a slight stench. "And it's a pleasure to see you again, Mr. Senator." Phillip said, turning to Troy, and extended out his hand to him shortly after. "I see you two are going for an all-dairy diet?" Phillip said, grinning, as he eyed over Troy Wilson's plate.

"My lady friend said that she had not had cheese in a long time, so I decided to feed her some. You know the best cheese in the world comes from Wyoming." Wilson answered with great sagacity. Kellecker blushed hard again.

"Oh... really?" Phillip asked, perplexed and unsure if what Troy said was even remotely accurate. "I guess one learns something new everyday?"

'But do they even make cheese in Wyoming?' He thought to himself afterward.

"So, Miss Kellecker, where do you come from where you haven't had cheese in a long time, if I may ask?"

Kellecker cleared her throat and lied to save face. "Oh, I've been...doing some hiking, in the um Appalachians. Yeah. I went on a long trip and just got back. So I didn't have any cheese. Or some other things."

Troy Wilson looked at her adoringly. He never knew she was a hiker.

'You must have literally just gotten back from what I can smell.' Phillip thought to himself, but nodding in an approving manner as she blatantly lied straight to his face.

"Well, that is quite the venture. So you hiked the entire Appalachian Trail?"

Noticing a rather non-commitmental reply, almost as if she had no clue what he was asking, Phillip just simply nodded his head. He sensed a growing sense of obvious oddness coming from Miss Kellecker, and began wondering if she was just using Wilson's glaring mental incapability to, possibly, have access to either the President or certain attendees to the ball.

"So, how'd you two meet? I mean no offense, Senator, but I never took you to be a hiker."

Carter Roberts
Dressed in a high-end tuxedo (we're talking an outfit that took $20,000 to put together, with a similarly expensive pair of leather shoes, Carter Roberts entered the convention hall with his wife Kara, who was in her best formal gown, which was provided to her by an up-and-coming stylist from Boston trying to make a name for herself. Roberts recognized several people, but only knew a few personally. He walked over to a former Colorado Rockies outfielder, one of the president's former teammates, who he had met at the ESPY's years ago, and who he at least considered an acquaintance, if not a friend. They made small talk while Roberts awaited the opportunity to talk with others who may be able to help in his pursuit of the Senate seat.

Smith, not invited to the inaugural ball for seemingly obvious reasons, flew back to Chicago. She spent the day playing tennis, the afternoon volunteering with a youth organization, and nighttime doing research for her next bill. She considered texting Jared and asking how the ball was going, but didn't want to interrupt any fun he would be having at the ball.

Dr. Doug Stephens
Stephens arrived at the convention center in a rented tux and without his usual cowboy hat. He cozied up to the bar and waited for others to approach him. Disappointed in the lack of alcohol, he orders a Coke to pass the time.

"Oh..." Phillip said, forcing a smile, as he heard Troy blurting out the final bit of his response. "How... romantic."

Phillip struggled with finding a suitable word, electing to settle with the cringe-worthy personal-assessment of the matter. "When did you two meet on the street?"

"Lovely." Phillip said, looking around awkward for someone to talk to aside from the two he had been forced to converse with, but ultimately deciding to glance down at his watch and fabricate some sort of an excuse. "Oh, shoot. I almost forgot the time!" Phillip said, glancing back up to the two. "Hey listen, it was great seeing you two but I need to run over and tell someone something. Have fun at that ball!" Phillip said, stepping away and waving to Troy and Miss Kettecker. Likewise technically true. Upon making his escape, he looked around for the nearest secret service agent - and upon finding him/her, Phillip whispered. "Not an emergency, I don't think they pose any threats, but something just doesn't seem quite right about Senator Troy Wilson's lady friend. You guys might want to have someone keep an eye on her."

Inaugural Ball

Sen. Peter Amaras
Image

Amaras had briefly considered not attending the ball, a beltway event packed with corrupt DC politicians, but had come to the ultimate decision that even with the Democrats invited there, the ball was still a celebration of the great conservative victory, and he could attend, though with a wary eye and a scornful gaze at the ready. Linda Sue was feeling too timid to deal with the huge event, so he was here by himself, in a suit modified to fit his girth, but that still seemed to fail to hang well on him-a product of him cutting corners to save some money on it.

After having made his way in, he looked out over the room, and nodded at it, satisfied, re-buttoning his straining jacket, and stopping to take a long draught of grape juice from a flute, wiping off his mouth.

Glancing about, he noticed Prejean in a conversation with the autist Senator of Wyoming and a rather ill-dressed woman, that roach Fowler scurrying off from the pipsqueak O'Leary with his stolen bride, and that basketball player milling about. He'd have to have a word with him sometime this evening, Amaras decided, he'd see if he'd bump into him. There were some people already sitting-there was Locklear talking with someone, he'd have a word with her as well, he thought. For the moment, he'd matriculate about the room, taking a look at things, and see what happened.

Gov. Abelard Bell
Image

Abelard Bell entered the ballroom standing beside Debra, as he always had, long arm reaching down to clasp hers in his as she stood at his side. He glanced down for a moment to smile at her before observing the spectacle.

This was not actually his first inauguration-that was in 2005, the year he had his retirement forced on him, when he attended, not as a politician, but as a retiring Admiral, Shrub's Armed Forces Ball. This would be his first attendance on a normal guest list, and mingling about the common floor.

He had, as a matter of formality, though he begrudged it, left his hat hanging at the entrance, revealing a more-than-balding dome, a few scarse strands of hair near-hopelessly combed over the naked expanse. His old-fashioned brown jacket, however, stayed on, formal, but a fashion of a bygone age.

Though noticing the dismayed reactions of others, Bell approved of the lack of liquor at the bars. Temperance was, after all, a virtue, and he thought it reflected well on the coming President to display that at this early stage. An event of this importance had no need to be boozed up.

He spoke softly down to his wife at his side as they walked their way through, marveling at the complexity of the event and its decoration.

Rep. Anna Rossi
Image
The inaugural ball would be the biggest event Rossi had ever attended, by far. A concert-the only one she'd ever been to, a Christian band had stopped by in town, and her father had given her permission to go. That had a few hundred people gathered around. This, from what she had heard, was into the thousands.

She had a simple, modest, slip of a dress, the most expensive thing she'd ever put on, just basic black, formal, even if she didn't like it-it made her feel like she was in mourning. She had brought a purse, but checked it instead of bringing it in, a decision that she now regretted, feeling off-center in the big room with everyone about, with nothing but a pocketless dress and a pair of uncomfortable too-high heels.

She was pivoting on said heels, unable to get much of a view of anyone even with those spikes on, a sea of heads and shoulders frustratingly blocking her view in all directions. Giving up on that for the moment, she clicked her way over to the bar to get a glass of orange juice, hoping things would clear up a bit soon enough.
