They are probably going to speak a mixture of norse and Frisian, along with Fleming in the south lands, trying to come up with name for them that sounds Nordic sine a mixture like this will not produce dutch, maybe Wet lander or something like that.

Sørland maybe? It means "Southern Land," which would make sense from the point of view of Scandinavian settlers.

Yeah that would make since mostly, Relgious wise they will be catholic but they still keep the honor bound Traditions from the old gods and might be a little more aggressive religiously

Communism/socialism as a concept, specifically Marxism, was created in 1848. I could pull off a socialist/communist Italia.

As for fascist, it seems the least likely so you're right on with that. Then again, it is alt-history so who knows. *shrug*

I know, right? Regardless, I plan for Italia - whichever incarnation it is - to have been created after a long history of Roman culture due to, after the Roman Empire collapsed, it re-consolidated power over the Italian peninsula and such, and slowly regrew to the size as shown on my map. Then it either existed till now (if I go Roman-Imperial), underwent a communist / socialist revolution (if communist/socialist Italia), underwent a fascist coup (if fascist Italia) or, possibly, the Imperial government ended up failing to some degree due to the power of the Church overwhelming it, making the government a de facto / semi-de jure theocracy (if I go Papal Italia).
