.

Symbol:
http://www.tattoo-wallpapers.com/user-content/uploads/wall/mid/60/anubis_egyptian_symbol_tattoo_design.jpg
This Symbol is placed at the front "Nether Gates" of his temple to signify that the temple belongs to Anubis, it is a mark that distinguishes his temple from all other gods. This symbol is also used anywhere in the universe to indicate a sacred place for mortal creatures, it is revered throughout the cosmos as a sign of the life to come and the power of the judge who will examine their life.

Brief Background:
Anubis is the son of the creator of all, Ra. At first his function was simply to help his father exercise some of his duties in the universe. He did this mainly by bringing souls of mortal men and creatures to the Afterlife where his father, Ra, would judge them. As time went on his father gave him more responsibility; instead of just ferrying souls to the afterlife he was allowed to judge a certain number of souls at a time, as his father taught him how to correctly judge and use divine law. As more of eternity went on, Ra saw that his son's ability to judge correctly had grown from well to superb, he also noticed that Anubis was a constantly leading groups of small demons to aid in the battle against gods who revolted from his father. In light of all his sons accomplishments he made gave him the divine mandate to rule over the entire afterlife(death) and the sole authority to judge the dead. He also gave him authority over the entire armies of demons used to serve him. Once Ra has given him the mandate Anubis became, eternally, from then on god of the Afterlife(Death) and Judge of the Dead. He is a god who is extremely comfortable in his power. He is even temper'd, a quick and decisive decision maker and bountiful in wisdom. Mortal creatures throughout the universe call on him to for many things regarding the afterlife but one thing he is usually called on for is divine protection from other gods. Legends say that in historic battles or important affairs, when some gods chose to intervene, mortal creatures would call upon him to prevent their death.

A Legend:
"The battle of the gates" The tales goes that Anubis made a appearance in a historic battle between ancient Sparta and the Persian Empire and the god of war. It was midday and the Persian emperor decided to retreat his forces. He could not, for all the men he had, break through the spartan lines. He, and his army, standing there in the bone chilling cold of the midday frost, feeling tired, weak and defeated, looked to the gods for help. The Persian king and his army, in their need, erected a makeshift temple for the god of war in which they offered sacrifice and praise, pleading with him to intervene on their behalf. the god of war, Vega, answered and came into the realm of the mortal army to smite the spartans and help the Persians conquer the rest of Greece. The Spartan King, along with his 300 spartans, seeing this god, this powerful being come down like lightning from the sky were not sacred. In fact when a few ally soldiers who were with the spartans saw Vega coming down from the sky with power they told the King of the Spartans to retreat, in which the King gave him a look of confusion and screamed to his army " If this is our time to die so be it. We die with honor, fighting for our country, our wives, our children. Fight with me! And if we fall on the field, we shall meet again!...In the Afterlife!" After this Vega, god of war, started to launch the offensive with the Persians, as the spartans clashed with them the tide has began to change very quickly, spartans has died left and right until all that was left was the Spartan King and the god of war, Vega. As Vega finished mocking him, the King, in his desperation, cried out "ANUBIS! MY LORD AND MY JUDGE, I AM PREPARED FOR JUDGEMENT , FOR AFTERLIFE, BUT IF I DIE LET THIS BE YOUR WILL NOT HIS!"

Anubis so moved by the King's submission to his will answered his prayer. Just as Vega was about to obliterate the Spartan King, the entire universe shook with the sound and vibration of a deep trumpet which caused Vega to lose his balance and miss his swing. The Trumpet fired again, and the ground opened up. Anubis, clothed in a swirling flames and black holy smoke, his body bearly visible but like a jackle's, blue piercing eyes and holding a pitch black staff appeared. His holy and intense blue eyes simply gazed at the Persian army, terrified, in front of him as they were struck with the the highest of fears a mortal man can be without death. Anubis was about to take their life but then lowered his eyes to the underworld, as he has something better in mind.

The King of the Spartans looking in awe and with a hint of tears started to move slowly back to were the god of the afterlife was standing while keeping an eye on Vega, who was simply standing there pay close attention the Anubi's moves. As the King got closer to Anubis he saw bodies climb out of the depths before him. Bodies that had armor, bodies that had spartan armor! Anubis had given him his army back and because already dead, were invincible. The Persians, petrified, started to run back in a massive retreat. The King, filled with love for Anubis dropped down and worshiped him, as his army finished crawling out from the underworld. Vega, meanwhile still standing there waiting for Anubis next move, as the Persians tried to flee as far as possible in mayhem. The King with love and admiration, surrounded by his army raised his sword and screamed "FOR SPARTA, FOR OUR COUNTRY AND FOR ANUBIS, OUR LORD!" The Dead spartan army charged toward the retreating Persians going around Vega, who was still standing there looking intently at Anubis. Anubis drifted closer to Vega until they were not foot away and said "These souls are mine, Vega, not yours to command"
He turned his back, his cloak of flames and black smoke searing Vega's face, and banged his staff once on the ground. The ground then shook and that deep dark trumpet sounded calling the dead back to the underworld. As he descended back into the underworld the Persian army having already been 90% clean out suffered an immediate death, their bodies being draged to the underworld. Vega, annoyed simply flew away.

As the King of Sparta saw the Persians die he realized that his army his already dead and could not stay in this world. He With his dead spartan army already disappearing into the wind he realized that his army did not deserve to die, that they belong back home. But it wasn't going to be easy, Daranubis always demanded sacrifice from mortals as a sign of sincerity. He knew what it would take then to have his men go back home. He cried out, as he battlefield began to be almost completely empty, "MY LORD, LET THESE MEN LIVE, TAKE NOT THER LIVES BUT MINE!, LET THEM GO HOME TO THEIR WIVES AND CHILDREN, I OFFER MYSELF FOR THEM, I OFFER MY SOUL EARLY FOR THEM" Tears flooding his eyes as he realizes that although his men may come back home he cannot.

Anubis, hearing his prayer, thinking about his major sacrifice granted it to him. The Spartan Army was released from judgement, at least until their appointed time, and the King was taken to the Underworld.

The Spartans, upon return to Sparta told them tale of Anubis, Vega and the King. Some believed them though other did not. Some called them heritics and some called them heros. No matter what was thought nobody during that time period could explain how 400,000 soldiers and their King disappeared; no bodies, no reminisce at all.

Persians Legend has it that if a Persian goes to that battlefield at night they could hear the screams of their Kings Army being tortured in the Underworld
and if a Spartan goes there, they could hear the Victories Screams of their King.

Character Application

Character Name:
Zike (zi-kee)

Character Species:
God

Patron of:
Air, Storms and Wind

Picture of Character:
Image

Abode/City of Residence:
Zephyre Kingdom

Location in Patheos (North, Southwest, Eastern coast, etc.):
Northwest

Weapon:
The Staff of the Anemoi
Crafted for Zike by the wind spirits of the north, the Anemoi Staff amplifies Zike's power over the air, allowing him to create powerful storms, including hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. Using the Staff, Zike can also create and control wind spirits. Also, he can summon lightning from the staff to strike enemies.

Image

Symbol:
Zike's symbol is the alchemy symbol for air: in Patheos, the upper triangle represents air and wind, the calm and pure side of the element. The bottom trapezoid represents the storms and chaos of the realm, being the darker side of the element of air.
Image

Brief Backstory of Character:
Zike was born to the goddess of wind and the god of tempests. However, he did not show his powers for many decades following his birth. This led to him eventually being abandoned by his parents and left in the north, left in the care of anemoi (wind spirits). It was still many centuries until Zike matured to develop his powers. Unfortunately, his overexcitement lack of control over his newfound powers led to a great storm that consumed the entire north; Zike became drunk by his powers. In an attempt to subdue him, the anemoi locked Zike in an abandoned temple. Afterwards, they crafted the Staff of the Anemoi for Zike; once it was presented, the years-long storm ended and Zike returned to normal. Using the Staff, Zike built for himself a kingdom in the north and ruled peaceful over the anemoi, keeping to his duties as controller of Patheos' air and storms.

Character Name: Messalina
Character Species (God, Goddess, Demigod, Monster, etc.): Goddess
Patron of (War, Justice, Wisdom, etc.): Education, Learning, and Knowledge
Picture of Character:
Image

Abode/City of Residence: Palace of the Scholars, Sesinopolis
Location in Patheos (North, Southwest, Eastern coast, etc.): Near the central mountain range
Weapon:
Image

Symbol:
Image

Brief Backstory of Character: Messalina was born under a tree (which has since been called the Tree of Knowledge), to the God of Wisdom and a nymph of birds; this makes Messalina the half-sister of Sesina. Messalina was thus always in the shadow of Sesina, who was slightly older and of higher birth, although the two later reconciled. Messalina’s symbol is an owl, owing to her mother being a protector of birds. Messalina is generally a kindly and personable goddess, but she is not afraid to seek vengeance against those she feels have wronged her.

One legend states that when a young prince, the son of a powerful king, skipped a meeting with his tutor, the goddess Messalina appeared to the prince in a daydream, torturing him and stabbing him with a spear (thus giving rise to the association between spears and Messalina). The prince, horrified by the vision and being able to physically feel the pain of the torture, humbled himself before Messalina and met with his tutor. When the tutor asked where the prince had been, Messalina appeared as a messenger, and presented the tutor with a letter stating the prince had been sick, and imploring the tutor to forgive the prince’s absence. This tale serves as an example of Messalina’s mercy toward her followers, and her cruelty toward her enemies.

Messalina is one of the few deities to frequently wander Patheos. Messalina scours the world for knowledge of mortal culture, and taking pity on the poor and outcasts of society. This has made Messalina one of the more beloved deities of Patheos, and has earned her many followers.

So, what''s the story here? Is this a sequel to the previous Mythology RP? And if it is, how long after the previous one does this one take place?

Thor: God of Thunder, Lightning and Storms

Abode/City of Residence: Asgard

Brief Backstory: Thor Odinson, was the first son of the Asgardian King, Odin and thus is the Prince of Asgard. He was trained to be the strongest and bravest of all Asgardians and his power was second to only his father. Thor was a warrior and for thousands of years, trained to be skilled in all the arts of warfare. However, due to his power, Thor became arrogant and cocky, believing he could solely defend the entirety of Asgard. Then the Frost Giants of Joutenheim attacked Asgard, however Thor fought them off easily. Thor then pursued the Giants back to Joutenheim, where he started slaughtering the Giants. Thor fought with humongous rage, almost destroying all of Joutenheim, until his father, Odin forcibly intervened and brought him back to Asgard. Seeing Thor was not able to control his powers for good, rather than evil, Odin stripped him of his powers and banished him to Earth with Mjolnir until he could prove himself worthy of that power. There, he was powerless, with Mjolnir unresponsive to him and he pleaded to return, but to no avail. While this was going on, his half, Frost-Giant brother, Loki wanted to kill Thor so he could then be heir to the throne of Asgard. To do this, he sent the angry and vengeful Frost Giants to attack Thor on Earth.

Back on Earth, Thor was attempting to adjust to human life, when he met Jane Foster, a scientist studying astrophysics. He fell in love, but that was cut short when the Frost Giants attacked. Thor, though powerless, fought to repel Giants, who were killing anything that got in their way. Jane was then being targeted when Thor shielded her from a ice shard that ultimately killed Thor. However this act of sacrifice and bravery made Thor worthy of his powers again and there he summoned Mjolnir and fought off the Giants. Thor returned to Asgard, feeling guilty of the destruction caused in Earth so he vowed to never let anything attack the planet. So from that point on, Thor has also been known as the Guardian of Earth.

NOTE ON ROLEPLAY PLOT:
In Patheos Reborn, the storyline continues approximately 300 years after the original, allowing for several generations to be born and rebuild. Furthermore, the land has been terraformed significantly in these past centuries with the onset of new gods wreaking havoc with the veterans. With the introduction of these new gods (players), the storyline of Patheos Reborn will likely stray from the original in significant fashions.

Any other questions can be telegrammed to me.

Aldaur's Patheos Reborn App

Postby Aldaur » Mon Jul 11, 2016 1:32 am

Character Name: Ibrakhotep

Character Species (God, Goddess, Demigod, Monster, etc.): God

Patron of (War, Justice, Wisdom, etc.): God of Justice, Redemption, Honor, and Valor

Picture of Character: Image

Abode/City of Residence: In the Southernmost city of Ibrasiris, capital to Ibrak's old empire

Location in Patheos (North, Southwest, Eastern coast, etc.): In the southern deserts of Patheos

Weapon: The Sword of Redemption

Symbol: A Shield and Scale

Brief Backstory of Character:

The Beginning
Thousands of years ago there was a mighty warrior by the name of Ibrak. He was young, handsome and most importantly, a brilliant tactician. One by one he conquered cities until he mounds of gold as far as the eye could see. However, he did not squander that wealth, but rather spent on an ever increasing army. He named himself King over the lands he conquered, but it was not enough. He wished to become the King of Kings, the Master of all the lands, the Mighty Pharaoh. The Gods blessed him with the strength of a hundred men and a never tiring army. He expanded his domain and created a vast empire in the south. Not only did he have the known world at his feet, he had fallen in love and married his beloved, he had several strong heirs to make an everlasting dynasty, and he had a people that adored him. This was not enough for him however, he was eager to take more and more. He prayed to the Gods to make him a lion amongst men. Disgusted by his greed, all of the Gods turned from him and ignored his pleas. All but one God. The God of Fates recognized that Ibrak did not appreciate his blessings and used them to commit egregious sins by conquering and pillaging the helpless. He also knew that though Ibrak was selfish, he had the potential to do good. He decided to test Ibrak and granted him his wish. Ibrak was gleeful that his request had been heard and went off to conquer more lands.

The Path to Exile
With each person he slayed and each city he conquered, something begin to awaken inside of him. He began to be filled with unexplainable rage and an unquenchable blood lust. At the same time, he felt his powers grow and that no one could kill him in battle. He began to enjoy himself as he ripped through the armies of his foes. As his hunger for blood grew, he found that killing the soldiers was not good enough, but that the inhabitants of each city had to die as well. He began to slaughter innocents, women and children as if they were nothing. As the years went by he began to become more feral and his people began to rebel against him out of disgust at what he had done. He attacked his own people, wiping them and their families from existence. By this time, he began to physically turn into beast. What was once a man was now a bipedal lion that cared not for his empire but for sating his primal desire for blood. His family, his wife and his children feared him and attacked him out of fear. In a blur, he found himself over their bodies, torn apart and bloody. His bloodied rage subsided and the conscious of a man resumed, then realizing all that he had done. He ran away to go in hiding so that he would hurt no more. With Ibrak gone and his heirs dead, his empire fell into disarray and broke apart. Ibrak reflected on all that had happened. He witnessed the fall of his empire, the death of his loved ones, the slaughter of his people and the theft of his humanity. Worse yet, he could not die and was forced to remain as a beast. For hundreds of years and he remained in solitude, fearing that he would not be able to control his blood lust and would harm an innocent.

Redemption
Under the bright sun that reflects upon the golden sands, Ibrak saw a woman running from a group of bandits. His blood lust began to come over him and so he turned away in fear that he would just hurt the woman he wanted to save. His blood lust was too strong and he ran out to attack. He ripped the bandits limb from limb and tore them to pieces. He then turned to the woman and began to charge at her. She screamed and put her hand up in fear as she cowered on the ground. Suddenly a flash back of the night he killed his beloved family was cast upon his mind. He stopped his advancement and resisted with all his being so that he would not give in to his blood lust. He fell to his knees before the woman and began to weep. The woman simply stared at the beast and quietly uttered the words "thank you" before turning and running away. Ibrak returned to solitude and went into a slumber. The next morning he awoke to the voices of a crowd outside his hiding place. He went out to investigate and found a large crowd of people dressed in fine clothing, carrying ornate gifts of gold and silver. Seeing all of those people confused him, he began to get dizzy, shades of red came over his vision....the blood lust was beginning to take hold. He resisted with all of his might not to let it dominate him. It wasn't until he noticed that the garb they were wearing was what his people wore, that his blood lust began to subside. Experiencing another flash back of the slaughter of his own people, Ibrak bent knee. The people in the crowd took it as a sign that he was there to serve them as their protector. They placed gifts before him and explained to him that the woman he saved was the daughter of the local chieftain. They told him of their problem with bandits and plead to him for help. He thought to himself that this would be the opportunity he has been waiting for. Ibrak has wanted to help and redeem himself so that his guilt may subside. He agreed to help the villagers and he went about to rid the area of these bandits. Over time, villages would come to him with a variety of problems, from foreign invaders to malicious monsters. As he dealt with each problem, his blood lust and his guilt began to subside, and he was more able to control himself. In addition, he gained renown and a new reputation as a guardian. He started to restore order throughout his old empire by taking care of the people. The people learned of his story, his struggles and the great wisdom he has gained from it. They also realized the order and peace he had provided and declared him to act as a judge over them. They saw no one more fitting than someone who has redeemed themselves from past horrors and had done so much good. With this, Ibrak was renamed Ibrakhotep, as hotep means to be at peace.

Ascension to Godhood
As Ibrakhotep was known throughout the land as both a guardian and as a judge, he became a symbol and paragon of justice and redemption. The Gods, impressed by his turnaround from a selfish monster into a virtuous guardian, decided to lift Ibrakhotep's curse of blood lust so that he no longer had to restrain himself and elevated him to minor God status. He was the God of Redemption at the time, however, he spent much of his interaction with mortals helping them and protecting them from evil. It wasn't until the War with the Titans that the Gods recognized his true value. During the war, Ibrakhotep put himself in harms way to protect both Gods and Titans who were weakened in battle and thus deserved protection from the other side, whom were bent on killing one another. At the end of the war, when the Gods won, rather than being angry with Ibrakhotep, they recognized his noble and virtuous intentions and elevated him to become the official God of Justice. They then appointed him to judge over the Titans because they knew he would be true and impartial. Ibrakhotep showed mercy and allowed the Titans a chance at redemption, many of which took the chance to right their wrongs before the Gods. Those who failed were swiftly cut down by the Ibrakhotep himself. Ibrakhotep's justice is tempered with mercy, but redemption only goes as far as one is willing to take it.

This is arguably one of the most powerful weapons in the universe. It has the ability to kill any being, mortal, spiritual, or immortal. It can be used to create earthquakes. Only Vega and ones he find worthy enough can wield the sword.

Symbol:

Brief Backstory of Character: Vega is the brother of Anubis and son of RA. He and Anubis were close brothers, doing everything together. However, Vega started to love the killing and suffering of others. He didn't understand why or how he started feeling these strange and psychotic feelings, and he wasn't able to fix them. Eventually, he was completely filled with hatred for the world. He ran away from his home, coming up to Patheos, going on a killing spree. However, his brother Anubis had warned him about mercilessly killing others, as it cause unbalance in the Underworld. So Vega had to find another way of quenching his thirst to kill. He then ran into a general of the city-state of Polemos. His army was on the retreat from the much mightier Deban Empire. This is when Vega realized he was a skilled tactician, as his plan to destroy the Deban army was flawless, leaving no Polemanian dead. He is worshipped as a God by the people of Polemos, when Ra came upon him and decided to appoint Vega the God of War. The people around the Deban Empire and eventually around Patheos loathed or feared the power of Vega, who is a vengeful psychotic God that shows no mercy. In Polemos, however, he is worshipped as a patron of their city. Vega lives away from Polemos in Mount Vega. He sits on an iron throne where he awaits another war to fight or another God to kill.

Vega is extremely brutal, cold, and psychotic. He usually razes the cities he takes over after stealing everything they have. He is a masterful tactician, but can become reckless if he is angry enough at his target. He is deceitful and cunning, but very narcissistic. Vega is responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands of beings of all kinds, and does not discriminate.

Brief Backstory of Character: The origin of the Goddess Serana is shrouded in mystery, some believing that she was born out of the dark shadows the lay within men’s hearts, others from the unholy matrimony of a demon and a god long forgotten. But many have come to believe that the Lady of Whispers has always existed, pulling the strings of civilization from the very beginning. Wherever corruption, spies, and grand secrets that could rock the very foundation of nations could be found, the agents of Serena were not far away.

There are legends that tell of her beauty and heavenly voice that could make men’s hearts yearn to but only serve her, but her elusive nature keeps these only as legends. Not even many of her fellow gods know her, and none have actually met her and know it, but she knows them all. She’s met them all, but very few knew it was her as she has hidden her identity well. Her secretive nature has earned her a very disliked reputation among her fellow deities.

She made her secret homely abode in the city of Kirkwall back when the city was prosperous, the trading of secrets and the plethora of shady work in the merchant city were plenty among the Merchant families and the cities wide trade made it optimal to run a widespread spy empire. However, over time, the Lady of Whispers’ heart began to feel for the oppressed masses of the city, crushed under the heel of the wealthy and tyrannical merchant class. She used her agents in the city to lead the revolt to topple the merchant class, and in doing so restore the rights of the people.

As it was the revolt that brought Kirkwall to the state it sees today, Serena has carried the guilt of what happened on her shoulders. She utilizes her spy network extensively, and has become the patron of all spies and bards, known to barter secrets for secrets and aid her faithful. She as well utilizes her agents in the decadent city of Kirkwall to create the Nightingale Gang, which is one of the only organizations keeping order in the crime-ridden city.

Well of Secrets - Underground hidden Chamber in the sewers and tunnels beneath Kirkwall, where many of the faithful barter to gain knowledge from the Lady of Whispers.
