The Fates of every Greek and Roman demigod are always intertwined. From the moment the Greeks razed the city of Troy to the ground, that was the moment in which one demigod faction could not exist without the other. Ever since that moment, the majority of conflicts in the world have been between the Greeks and Roman demigods, and has reached the point in which the Gods could not see another option but to concentrate all of their children in one area, but also establish a buffer zone between them.

Welcome to 2016 North America.

However, things are not what they appear. The 71-year truce that has kept the Roman and Greek demigods from tearing each other apart is currently becoming more and more unstable each day. Both sides are beginning to intrude on the No Man's Land, separating their territories from the East & West. With the truce becoming more and more unstable with the passing moment, monsters that the world had not seen for thousands of years are starting to walk the Earth again, notably beasts that had been previously slain such as the Minotaur, the Hydra and Medusa. Despite the shielding of these creatures from non-demigod eyes, the Gods are still concerned about these beasts that still roam the earth, preying on demigods, regardless of what side they're on.

The truce is fading, the two factions will come into contact once more, but united against a larger threat, or divided against each other?

Hubris of the Gods is a character-driven RP based loosely off of the universe of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians Series (mind you, none of the stories take place in this RP, but simple bits and pieces such as the Gods moving to North America, Celestial Bronze, etc. is used) but will be a much more grittier version as certain parts have been adjusted (demigods get claimed by their parents at 18 years old, demigods live in fortified hamlets, demigods start training around 17 and typically remain in the villas until they are 23-24, etc.). The main plot of this RP is a secret, only to be revealed early on in the IC, but it will revolve around resolving the thousands of years old grudge between the Romans and Greeks while counteracting a returning and extremely dangerous evil.

We will be RPing as a relatively small party of Roman & Greek demigods, hand picked by the Greek/Roman Gods (specifically Athena/Minerva) to undertake on this dangerous quest. This means I expect you to respect the lore of the RP, and butt heads a few times when making decisions and such. The Grudge holds a major priority over the success of the quest at times.

RULES

    1. Obey both OP's and Co-OP's rulings
    2. No metagaming, OOC flaming, godmodding
    3. You're not invincible. If you're put into an impossible situation, accept it. You can always make a new character.
    4. That being said, your characters will die. You need to prepare for when this happens.
    5. You're centred mainly around the small group of demigods, but will also see situations where you are separated from the group and are required to survive on your own for a bit.
    6. One-liners are strictly prohibited. Please put effort into your posts, even if they are simply in dialogue. I expect a paragraph at least with Ninth Grade grammar & spelling.
    7. If you're going to be inactive, please let everyone know in the OOC. This is a character-driven RP, and if you're not there, you're definitely holding everyone back.
    8. There will be romantic interests between characters, but that's no excuse to turn this RP into a brothel. Keep it relatively PG-13 and make sure to have the parts that no one wants to read in the TGs, or don't post them at all.
    9. Have fun, kick back and relax.

FAQ/Additional Information

Q: When are the Demigods' Powers awakened?
A: As soon as they are born, but the powers' strength would function much like speaking or walking would in humans, it would take time to develop and fully grow.

Q: Parts of the OOC says this RP is like a gritty Percy Jackson RP, what does that mean?
A: Although it says this is like a gritty Percy Jackson RP and borrows elements from Mr. Riordan's series, none of the events in the Percy Jackson series takes place in this RP. This means that the whole Gaia plot line in the Lost Heroes of Olympus do not happen, the Second Titan War in New York City does not happen and plenty of locations that exist in Mr. Riordan's series do not exist in this RP.

Q: Guns?
A: Useless against monsters. It does physical damage to their body, but does nothing to send their soul back to Tartarus (which is what Celestial Bronze & Imperium Iron does) and therefore allows the monster to regenerate. Not to mention, they're incredibly overpowered. I'll immediately reject any application that uses a gun.

Q: What happens to the Big Three (Hades, Zeus & Poseidon)'s demigods?
A: I'm very aware of the incredible power the demigods of the Big Three possess, but in order to make it seem more realistic, the powers of the demigods of the Big Three will have to be hard to control (i.e. immensely draining on their energy, difficult to maintain for extended periods of time, etc.).

Information to Know (WIP)

Postby Ontorisa » Fri Jul 08, 2016 5:48 pm

Demigod-Related Information

Celestial Bronze - Celestial Bronze was first used by the Greek Mythological Heroes in the Early Bronze Age/Late Stone Age. Its appearance is similar to that, except Celestial Bronze possesses a much more "clean" look to it. As well, unlike Bronze, Celestial Bronze can damage monsters more than mortal elements can, since it possesses special properties. It dissolves monsters' bodies while sending their soul to Tartarus to reform. It can also be as dangerous to demigods, separating their soul from their body.

Imperium Iron - Imperium Iron is the Roman equivalent of Celestial Bronze. Despite possessing almost the exact same effects as Celestial Bronze, Imperium Iron is much more common and less durable than Celestial Bronze is. As a result, even though the Romans prefer to use Imperium Iron, some weapons are forged to incorporate both elements into a single blade.

Ambrosia - The healing god food used in emergencies, when demigods are seriously hurt. Ambrosia will cure almost any injury, although too much can make a demigod feverish and kills mortals. Despite being the Food of the Gods, Ambrosia has been slowly remade over the years so that it could be used to help demigods as well as Gods.

Nectar - Nectar is used as a healing drink when someone is injured. Demigods can drink it, but if they have too much of it, they are in danger of being incinerated. Humans can't drink it at all without being incinerated. It has been implied that nectar tastes like anything the drinker likes (favourite food or drink). Similar to that of Ambrosia, Nectar has been modified over the years to accommodate the needs of demigods, and has been slightly successful in transforming to help demigods as well as gods.

The Mist - The Mist is a supernatural force controlled by the goddess Hecate that twists a mortal's sight from seeing monsters, gods, Titans, and various other mythical creatures and supernatural occurrences by replacing them with things the mortal mind knows about and can comprehend.

The Grudge - The Grudge of Troy, or simply called The Grudge, is a grudge older than one thousand years that was the result of the Trojan War between the Trojans and Greeks. When the Greeks razed Troy to the ground, the survivors, led by Aeneas, whose descendants eventually founded the city of Rome. From there, the Greeks and Romans were heated rivals from the very beginning of Rome's founding with the demigods fighting each other before the actual Roman forces even step foot inside of Greece. The Grudge was reignited with Epirius' landing in Rome, the constant conflicts between the Romans and Greeks and eventually the Roman conquest of Greece. Even though Rome conquered Greece, the demigods had never forgotten the Grudge, and were constantly fighting each other, until the end of World War II, when the Gods imposed a truce between the two factions, settling them all in North America and dividing them up into two parts: The Romans in the West and the Greeks in the East, as it was in the Old World.

The Truce - The Truce of the World Wars, or simply referred to as the Truce, is a 71-year old truce between the Greek and Roman demigod factions to ensure no more blood is spilled between them. The Truce also helps reinforce the Realm of Tartarus, where mythological monsters' souls go when they are defeated on Earth to reform, to help slow down the process in which the monsters are re-animated and re-appear on Earth. Recently however, the Truce has become unstable for an unknown reason, and has seen its power over Tartarus weaken, seeing more and more dangerous and ancient monsters re-form on Earth at a much more rapid rate.

Maps of the Main Demigod Locations
Blue = Greek Hamlet
Orange = Roman Villa
Black Lines = Sides of the No Man's Land

Image

Image

Each main location for both sides features a large main house with small cabins and tents on the outside. Typically located outside of major cities, the Mist shrouds these locations so they appear to be regular houses. Each location possesses a Mess Hall, Training Grounds, transportation, Armouries, Places to sleep and small other enjoyable activities.

The central/capital location for the Greeks is Olympus, which is located near the entrance to the new Mount Olympus in New York City. The central/capital location for the Romans is Praetoria, where the bulk of their leadership meets every 3 months to discuss various issues in the Roman territory as well as quests, prophecies and any threats that exist on their borders. Both the Greeks and Romans have numerous forts on the borders of the No Man's Land, although they are typically manned with 10-15 demigods and have tents and palisade walls as their only structures. These forts act as both defence against monsters and threats that exist in the No Man's Land.

Living in the Villas/Hamlets

Life in both the Villas of the Romans and Hamlets of the Greeks vary. While the Greeks are very lax with rules and allow their demigods to mingle about, the Romans are strict and disciplined. To even things up, the Greeks tend to divide their demigods into groups, separated by the parents of the demigods (i.e. children of Athena would be in the same group while children of Hermes would be in the same group, etc.). Each group would then select a demigod to represent them at the Council of the Greeks, an annual meeting between the high ranking officials of the Greek demigods, as well as the War Council.

Unlike the Greeks however, the Romans split their demigods up into cohorts, similar to that of a Legion. Each cohort are led by two centurions, one male and one female, regardless of Godly parentage. These cohorts are then treated as a single unit, and can be used during offensive wars by the Romans, against monsters or demigods alike. Due to this, the political structure between the cohorts and the Senate of the Romans can be very complex at times, with the more influential members having the cohorts in their favour and, at times, using them as political tools against their opponents.

The Gods

Both the Romans and Greeks worship the same Gods, however the Gods are known by both sides by different names and tend to carry on the traits from their worshippers. The Roman version of the Gods are more disciplined, war-like and less diplomatic than the Greek Gods. Despite this, the Gods manage to control their personalities most of the time (there have been a few cases when Ares/Mars may have caused a couple of demigods to come into conflict with one another).

For those unfamiliar with the major Gods & Goddesses, below is a spoiler containing a quick summary of each God & Goddess, their Roman & Greek names and their image.

Image
Greek Name: ZeusRoman Name: Jupiter
King of the gods and ruler of Mount Olympus; God of the Sky, Lightning, Thunder, Law, Order, Justice. Youngest child of the Titans Kronos and Rhea. Symbols include the thunderbolt, eagle, oak tree, scepter, and scales. Brother and husband of Hera, although he had many lovers, also brother of Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, and Hestia.

Image
Greek Name: HeraRoman Name: Juno
Queen of the Gods and the Goddess of Marriage and Family. Symbols include the peacock, cuckoo, and cow. Youngest daughter of Kronos and Rhea. Wife and sister of Zeus. Being the Goddess of Marriage, she frequently tried to get revenge on Zeus' lovers and their children.

Image
Greek Name: PoseidonRoman Name: Neptune
God of the Seas, Earthquakes, and Tidal Wave. Symbols include the horse, bull, dolphin, and trident. Middle son of Cronus and Rhea. Brother of Zeus and Hades. Married to the Nereid Amphitrite, although, like most male Greek Gods, he had many lovers.

Greek Name: HadesRoman Name: Pluto
God of the Underworld and the Dead. Symbols include the pitchfork. Image
Greek Name: AthenaRoman Name: Minerva
Goddess of wisdom, reason, intelligent activity, literature, handicrafts and science, defense and strategic warfare. Symbols include the owl and the olive tree. Daughter of Zeus and the Oceanid Metis, she rose from her father's head fully grown and in full battle armor. Her Roman counterpart, Minerva, is known for being the virgin goddess of music, poetry, medicine, wisdom, commerce, weaving, crafts, and magic, unlike her Greek counterpart (which is taken by the Goddess Bellona)

Image
Greek Name: ApolloRoman Name: Apollo
God of light, prophecy, inspiration, poetry, music and arts, medicine and healing. Son of Zeus and Leto. Symbols include the sun, lyre, swan, and mouse. Twin brother of Artemis.

Image
Greek Name: AresRoman Name: Mars
God of war, violence, and bloodshed. Symbols include the boar, serpent, dog, vulture, spear, and shield. Son of Zeus and Hera, all the other gods (except Aphrodite) despised him. His Latin name, Mars, gave us the word "martial."

Image
Greek Name: AphroditeRoman Name: Venus
Goddess of love, beauty, and desire. Symbols include the dove, bird, apple, bee, swan, myrtle, and rose. Daughter of Zeus and the Oceanid Dione, or perhaps born from the sea foam after parts of Uranus dripped into the sea after being castrated by his youngest son, Kronos, who then threw his pieces of his father into the sea. Married to Hephaestus, although she had many adulterous affairs, most notably with Ares.

Image
Greek Name: HephaestusRoman Name: Vulcan
Master blacksmith and craftsman of the gods; god of fire and the forge. Symbols include fire, anvil, axe, donkey, hammer, tongs, and quail. Son of Hera, either by Zeus or alone. Married to Aphrodite, though unlike most divine husbands, he was rarely ever licentious.

Messenger of the gods; god of commerce, thieves, eloquence and streets. Symbols include the caduceus (staff entwined with two snakes), winged sandals and cap, stork, and tortoise (whose shell he used to invent the lyre). Son of Zeus and the nymph Maia. The second-youngest Olympian, just older than Dionysus.

Image
Greek Name: HestiaRoman Name: Vesta
Goddess of the hearth and of the right ordering of domesticity and the family; she was born into the first Olympian generation and was one of the original twelve Olympians. Some lists of the Twelve Olympians omit her in favor of Dionysus, but the speculation that she gave her throne to him in order to keep the peace seems to be modern invention. She is the first child of Kronos and Rhea, eldest sister of Hades, Demeter, Poseidon, Hera, and Zeus.

Image
Greek Name: DionysusRoman Name: Bacchus
God of wine, celebrations, and ecstasy. Patron god of the art of theatre. Symbols include the grapevine, ivy, cup, tiger, panther, leopard, dolphin, goat, and pinecone. Son of Zeus and the mortal Theban princess Semele. Married to the Cretan princess Ariadne. The youngest Olympian god, as well as the only one to have a mortal mother.

Image
Greek Name: [None]Roman Name: Bellona
Bellona was an Roman goddess of war. Her main attribute is the military helmet worn on her head; she often holds a sword, spear or shield, and brandishes a torch or whip as she rides into battle in a four-horse chariot.

WIP Bestiary

Bestiary Overview

While each section does list the general appearance and the like of each monster, they are not set in stone. Some monsters can have rare variations, some Dragons have wings, same as some centaurs have horns or antlers instead of just being half man half horse. Most of the beings below are from Greek Mythology, though they are common throughout both Roman and Greek myth, just with different names. Additionally, while many monsters and beings of myth are evil, there are rare good or neutral ones on occasion.

Image

Drakons

One of the three types of Dragons mentioned in greek myth. They are massive serpentine monsters, capable of spitting acid or breathing fire. Many can have multiple heads, few are capable of true flight, as they are wingless. Regardless of their flightless nature they are monstrously powerful, and one of the most fearsome foes any mortal can face.
There will of course be more text in the end, but that would require me to possibly change some of the creatures.

Image

Cetus

The second type of Greek Dragons, these are the sea dragons in geek mythology. They are rather serpentine in nature, but can only inhabit water. They are nowhere near as powerful as Drakons, but they can easily sink ships none the less. Some are able to call storms to sink ships, they often collude with other monsters of the seas and oceans to get their prey.

Image

Dracaena

The last of the three types of Greek Dragons, these are an anomaly among them. They possess a humanoid form which is usually monstrous in appearance. Some Dracaena however hold an exotic beauty and can easily sway the minds of Mortals. Many have reportedly feasted on humans and beasts, of any sort. Some have serpent tails instead of legs, some however have been able to assume a fully human form for a time. Beyond their appearance and base habits very little is known about these creatures.

Image

Minotaur

Minotaurs are well known as being massive creatures, with the body of a man and Bull. They possess curved horns, and a rather muscular physique. While they are usually seen using their horns and fists in combat, many have used simple weapons and armor. Some favor battleaxes, while others use massive clubs. Regardless of what they are using, they are a dangerous foe to face.

Image

Cyclops

They are massive humanoid beings, with a similar appearance to humans, but only have one eye. Many are master craftsman, and can make serviceable weapons out of nearly anything. They are monstrously strong, and possess thick skin and a near immunity to fire. Many can even exhibit feats of the mind, making these creatures feared for both their brawn and brains.

Image

Hydra

Hydras, are often mistaken as a form of Cetus, as they are very similar. Hydras however can have multiple heads that multiply, and are weak to fire. Many have an incredible healing factor, aside from the head regeneration. A few have even been depicted as being able to breath multiple elemtents or use magic, though the latter is extremely rare.

Image

Centaurs

While many Centaurs are good, there are also many that are evil. Most of the evil varieties have horns or antlers. This differentiates them from normal Centars, though some normal centars can become corrupted, through certain means. They can travel fast, and are skilled with all manner of weapons, they have poisonous blood as well. They are usually the children of gods or Titans, many are of questionable loyalty to the gods.

Image
Hellhounds
A hellhound is a supernatural dog in folklore. A wide variety of ominous or hellish supernatural dogs occur in mythologies around the world, similar to the often seen dragon. Features that have been attributed to hellhounds include mangled black fur, glowing red eyes, super strength or speed, ghostly or phantom characteristics, and a foul odor.

Telchines
Their parents were either Pontus and Gaia, or Tartarus and Nemesis, or else they were born from the blood of castrated Uranus along with the Erinyes. In another story there were nine Telkhines, children of Thalassa and Pontus; they had flippers instead of hands and the heads of dogs and were known as fish children. They were regarded as excellent metallurgists: various accounts state that they were skilled metal workers in brass and iron, and made a trident for Poseidon and a sickle for Cronus, both ceremonial weapons.

Laestrygonian Giants
The Laestrygonians, are a race of giant cannibals. Standing at eight feet tall, these giants are ferocious, and feast on the blood and flesh of man. Dangerous, violent and possessing razor sharp teeth, these Giants are no joke and are not meant to be played with at all.

Demigod Factions

Postby Ontorisa » Fri Jul 08, 2016 5:48 pm

The Greeks
"For Olympus!"

The Greeks are the demigod faction who are descendants of the Greek version of the ancient Gods. Being descendants of the Greek Gods means that each demigod is fluent in their native tongue and Ancient Greek. Despite this, the majority of demigods prefer to converse in English, since it is a more understandable language.

The Greeks in modern day North America control the Eastern Seaboard, with their capital hamlet (Olympus) being located just outside of New York City.

The Romans
"Senatus Populusque Romanus"

The Romans are the demigod faction who are descendants of the Roman version of the ancient Gods. Unlike the Greeks, the Romans are much more disciplined and follow strict schedules and rules laid out by the founders of their legions. As a result, the Roman faction is much more warlike than the Greek faction is. Much like the Greeks however, the Roman demigods are able to speak both English and Latin, but prefer to converse in English.

The Romans in modern day North America control the Western Seaboard, with their capital villa (Praetoria) being located just outside of Los Angeles.

The Establishment
"Ours Not to Reason Why."

The mysterious Establishment is a demigod faction that is rarely seen in modern day North America. However, there have been reports that members of the Establishment have been spotted at various places around North America, with their intentions clearly hostile to both the Romans and Greeks. Whether if it is raiding/ambushing patrols or sabotaging quest attempts, no one understands their true motivations and goals in North America. Regardless, these demigods are extremely dangerous and should either be fought or avoided when spotted.

The Hunters of Artemis
"I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis. I turn my back on the company of men, accept eternal maidenhood, and join the Hunt."

The Hunters of Artemis are gifted with excellent ranged capabilities and hunting skills, possess eternal youth as long as they do not die in battle or break their vows of rejecting boys, and immensely enjoy hunting at Artemis' side. They hunt monsters and whatever else they see fit. They are her maidservants, her companions, and her sisters in arms. They are however sworn to be a Hunter forever and to be an eternal maiden. Because of this, many of the Hunters have a great hatred for males and dread even travelling with them.

If a Hunter falls in love, Artemis will remove their immortality and may turn them into an animal, depending on her discretion. The other possible way to lose immortality is to die in battle. They are often mistaken for Amazons, only the Amazons are allowed to fall in love and do not worship a certain goddess individually. The Hunters do not have a set place in North America, but rather wander, following Artemis. As well, they are one of the exceptions to the Truce and are either ignored or considered neutral by the Romans & the Greeks (though they are attacked by the Establishment from time to time).

Application

Postby Ontorisa » Fri Jul 08, 2016 5:54 pm

Application

*Keep it simple. 2016 Demigods tend to run around in regular clothes with their weapons at the side. Only in actual battles do they wear traditional Celestial Bronze/Imperium Iron armour.

*Try not to make your characters too over powered please. As well, I'd like for the demigods to have various Godly parents instead of everyone simply gunning for Zeus/Jupiter or Poseidon/Neptune. I will place limitations on some if we have an excess number.

Delete everything in parenthesis please.

Biography

Born in Bangor, Maine to Thomas Hoffman and Athena, throughout Anthony's life, he has known only running away. Despite the strength of Tartarus when he was born, Anthony was ruthlessly pursued by various monsters, notably the Actaeon Dogs. Even though sometimes Anthony would contact his father when he was safe in a shelter, he knew in his gut that it could not go on like this. Eventually, Anthony was found by two Greek Demigods in the back streets of Boston, who offered to take him the the Greek Hamlet of Olympus near New York City (not to be confused with Mount Olympus). Despite being too young to be taken into the Hamlet, the rules were slightly bent since Anthony had come a long ways. Arriving in Olympus, Anthony quickly felt at home, despite the age difference between himself and everyone else at the hamlet.

Once Anthony turned 17, he was immediately claimed Athena and was pushed right into demigod training. Since he was the son of Athena, Anthony joined the Athena Group and was initiated quickly, being tossed into sword fighting despite lacking prior experience. Thankfully, Anthony did decently and began to learn more about the Art of Sword Fighting. Growing at an immense rate, Anthony was eventually sent on his first quest along with an Apollo demigod and a Poseidon demigod, to seek and slay the reformed Amphisbaena. Alarmingly, these three demigods managed to slay the beast, sending its soul back to Tartarus while suffering limited wounds and scratches.

Only recently has Anthony's influence grown in the Greek Faction, becoming a member of the War Council, despite not being the Head of the Athena Group.

Hubris of the Gods Application

Basics

Name: James Harrison
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Appearance: This guy, maybe
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Nationality: american
Height: 6'7"
Weight:215 lbs

Demigod Information

Godly Parent: Veritas, Goddess of Truth.
Equipment: Large Imperial iron sword, as well as a rapier. Light leather armor, rhink that is it.
Powers: Truthsight- he sees the true nature of things, and illusions. With lies it is a bit trickier, he just has a sort of uneasy feeling if someone is lying to him, but he can't tell waht they are lying about right off the bat, he has to figure it out.
Truth Speaker- he can only speak the truth, he is literally incapable of lying.
Skills: He is skilled with some weapons, and telling if someone is lying.

Miscellaneous

Personality: Cynical, seeing the true nature of people and things has a way of doing that. Mature, pessimistic.
Strengths: Well he would be a decent interrogator.
Weaknesses: He is only as durable as the average demigod, his powers have little combat significance.
Fears: Heights, some monsters.
Likes: The Truth, fighting, food, cooking.
Dislikes: Liars, bad food, sore losers, those who manipulate others.
Ambitions: None, yet, though mainly he just wants to survive and live away from all the death and lying.
Family: His father is dead, and has no other mortal family.

Biography He was a normal child for the most part, except for being an Orphan, his father, who was an Attorney in LA was killed when he was younger. Like many other Demigods he was able to use his abilities from birth, his however were passive and always active. He didn’t have many friends in the Orphanage he was taken to after his father died. This is because he always ratted the other kids out whenever he was asked if they did anything. He didn’t want to but he was incapable of lying, literally. Despite this he was still able to have a decent childhood, atleast until he turned 14 and entered highschool.

During high school his life was much the same, but he had a few friends. His life was good, but then he started seeing monsters more frequently. He had always seen atleast a few, some were hostile others not, at the time he didn’t realize his presence was what was drawing them to the area. At first it was only a few of them, all of different types. There was this one dark spirit that had been following his group around. He and a friend were attacked, the friend was eaten. A group from the Roman camps showed up and killed the Lastrygonians that had captured him. He has been with them ever since.

Demigod Information

They largest boosts come from victory through combat or physically intensive contests. This was at the urging of Nike, so that in accordance to the Truce, the child would be able to go to the Greek camps. His father at the time had no knowledge of the Gods and still doesnt.

Eh, it's just it's much easier to have characters descendants of the more major gods that everyone tends to understand more than a very minor goddess.

Fair enough, I might go with Hecate or something then.

In the first war, yeah. She fought Gaea with the gods through in the Heroes of Olympus books.

Tag.
If order of the stag is officially declared dead, I'll join up here.
I'm planning on a Roman demigod, only partially because I speak a bit of Latin...
It appears I'm an INTP-T. You're not gonna get much more about me.

I know it says this RP's loosely based off of the Percy Jackson universe, but that's only because it borrows a few elements from it. None of the plot stuff from Percy Jackson exists in this RP.

OotS is dead. Also that sounds good, we're currently having an influx of Greek demigods.

Onty, i have two Romans and a greek in the works.
