Senator, with all due respect the country someone is from doesn't change their character. We have Americans who grow up to be terrorists and Egyptian immigrants who grow up to be true American patriots. This bill keeps the decision on the person for that very reason. If the recruiters decide they deserve it, they should get a chance, and if not, then not, no matter where they are from.

"Will our military be able to cope with this bill?" Barron asked. "This would in all probability create a surge in membership of the military leading to strains both on training and equipment. This would also lead to uncommitted troops who merely want to wait out a few years doing as little as possible so they can get citizenship. There are also knock-on effects resulting from this bill. This could create the problem of many immigrant families being more dependent on social services and welfare as this bill will result in a surge in immigrant families relying on a single parent - often a single mother if the father is injured or killed during his service. Can our current military and welfare budgets deal with the stress this bill will create and will the U.S. Military be able to ensure it's high standards?"

Senator, I would hope you are aware that the military is capable of turning down applicants. I do not see how your criticism is anything but a criticism of all recruitment into our Armed Forces. Our standards and budget will be just fine. Actually, they'll be even better.

"This bill is rather self-explanatory, and should pass without much opposition. The acts of incredible violence and inhumanity perpetrated by the Assad Regime under his direction and with total disregard for innocent life and human rights, warrant the categorization of this man as what he so obviously has become: A Dictator. President Winston's foreign policy has shown weakness to the world and an inability to successfully act against or sometimes even acknowledge Assad's crimes against civilians and opposition groups, but that does not mean that the United States Congress must follow suit. The passage of this resolution would be a signal that The US Government does recognize Assad's autocratic evil, and would give us an opportunity to call out said autocratic evil by its proper name where it exists. Thank You."

No there isn't Senator. If you think that years of military service are not enough to prove their loyalty, then you either don't trust anyone, or have another reason to distrust them. We have no way to track them. If we did that would constitute a breach of privacy and a massive and likely unconstitutional expansion of federal power.

The Unabomber lived here for decades Senator. What you are telling me is that just living here proves loyalty better than risking your life for this country. How is that not "proving" their loyalty? It sounds to me like you have another reason to doubt their loyalty.

Senator, if another country wanted to put all the time, money, and effort into infiltrating our military, I am pretty sure that they would just forge an ID.

I've answered your question Senator, and the answer is more than the measures to make sure that YOU are loyal. They have to pass through all enlistment and background checks, which is more than you had to. Then they risk their lives for their country for years, which is more than you have ever done. After that we don't have thought police tracing them because of a little thing called the Constitution of the United States. That's your answer.

"I move that the following Section be added."

Section 7: Should the UI be killed in the line of duty, the immediate family of the UI shall be granted U.S. Citizenship in the same manner as if the enlistment period was completed.
