After sending the message, he gave up, turning off his phone and putting it on his coffee table. A few minutes later, he checked the news, and was disheartened after seeing what everyone was saying about him, and he sent a message to Egazarian.

Never much one for texting, and curious has to how on earth the Speaker had gotten his number, Bell called Garestaer back.

On his desk were piles of reports. Murray's excursions were somewhat helpful, but mostly maddening, forcing him to change the entire deployment of the National and State Guards, and relief efforts, so as to not relieve the same area twice. He resolved to call the Governor as soon as he finished with Garestaer.

Having survived on water for four days, Garestaer was more noticeably irritable and sickly-looking when and if he went out in public. He answered his phone with a pissed "What?!"

I'm in RI helping fortify people in Charlestown. I don't think I can personally come and get you. Want me to send my staff in DC to come and get you? My house is completely fortified and ready for a tsunami.

As the hurricane came closer and closer to the coast Danders could just not just sit on his hands and do nothing. For one that would not look good and that would ruin as reputation and he probably would lose the Progressive primary along with the Democrat primary if he did that let alone the Gubernatorial race between the Republican candidate. He had to do something and he formulated a plan to actually do something.

The other Democratic candidates were holding private fundraisers, Danders did not have the time for that after all the campaign was his side gig and he did not expect to win at all, just create a moderate splash enough to bother the establishment into getting some concessions and setting the stage for another progressive candidate in the next four or eight years, at this point more likely eight due to the baked in Democratic advantage in the Electoral college. He had a better idea he was going to hold a fundraiser while doing his gubernatorial address to the public.

As Danders looked at the red light the camera from the cameraman emitted, he out on his reading glasses to hide his inexperience behind a mask of experience. As the camera,an signalled for him to begin Danders began to speak.

"Good evening Vermonters,

Today I wish to speak to all of you to a matter of utmost urgency. As you all know a terrible hurricane is going to the east coast, and predicted to devastate New England. We here in Vermont are safe from the danger due to our geography so praise be to the powers that be. However, our brothers and sisters in the entire region of New England are not as lucky as us"

Danders said as pulled up a map of New England with the predicted path of the hurricane

"As you can see here the hurricane is predicted to devastate much of the coastal regions destroying the homes of thousands upon thousands of our neighbors. I know sometimes we disagree with our neighbors and sometimes they disagree with us but this is the time to put petty political divisions aside and focus on the bigger picture. There is a time for mudslinging and that is now, and all candidates should focus on the danger and create a united coalition of liberals, moderates, and conservatives. At the end of the day we are all Americans.

That is where you my fellow Vermonters come in. Let us give our neighbors a taste of Vermonter hospitality. I urge all of you to register your homes to the state for my emergency program which passed congress by a huge margin. The program called H.E.L or home emergency legislation act will provide a statewide database for those who choose to open their homes to our friends from the other states. And, the state will arrange transportation of all refugees into their emergency accommodations, and allow them to stay with you all until the storm clears. So I urge all you Vermonters to open your doors to help.

To all New Englanders let this be an invitation to all of you to stay in Vermont, and spend the time with us until the worst of this storm is gone.

This program will allow our neighbors in the other New England states weather the worst of this storm. There is something else that you can do if you cannot open your homes for whatever reason. You can write to all congressmen not just ones in Vermont to pressure with them to vote for the FEMA act currently deadlocked in congress right now. Second you can donate to Hurricanerelief.vt.gov and donate whatever you can to help the potential victims of the hurricane. We would appreciate any donation no matter how small, even if it is one dollar, every penny helps our cause.

Thank you Vermonters, let us give our thoughts and prayers to the families that will be affected by the tragedy and hope that no one gets hurt"

Garestaer had been frustratingly vague as to where, exactly, he was, so she dialed up his number, and waited as it rang.
