So what is this? You ask. Well my dear NSer, Thought Cafe is an RP Group that welcomes all players of all scope and caliber, we serve to be a discussion group where Role Playing enthusiasts can make and participate in Open Roleplays of any genre and of any type. We have FT Faction RPs, RPs that examine the human condition, RPs set in a feudal society, we have Geopolitical RPs set in an Alternate World where you can let your imagination soar, all kinds of RPs that would satisfy anybody's hankering for good RPs of any kind.

This is also a place to have fun and unwind, as much as a discussion thread about anything and everything as it is an RP group. We are not solely focused on RPs, we like to goof off too. There's a lull in the conversation? Make a new one!

Planned RPs

Nominally a Sci-Fi RP, And Thus Spoke Zarathustra is in reality a Psychological RP set in a Generation Ship heading to Barnard's Star after a calamity destroys the Earth. The RP is divided in three chapters, the first being people's immediate reaction to the destruction of Earth and the beginning of a Post-Earth Humanity. The second set a few years later during the rebellion of the Neo-Nietzscheites or Zarathustrans, aiming to shed people's old Earth morals and values, and replaced with, well, nothing, because Nihilism. The third chapter is set when Humanity arrives at the new planet in Barnard's Star, long after the end of the rebellion, and serves as an epilogue.

Quality writing is mandatory, since its a Psychological thread, examining not only the player character's psyche, but the human condition and hell maybe even the player him/herself.

A World In Chaos was an old RP of mine that was set in an Alternate World to our own, with different continents, countries, peoples, religions, ideologies, you name it, or at least that was the ideal. However AWIC broke down due to player inactivity and an RP Group is designed to get around that since players can post whenever they want.

This is as much a Worldbuilding project as it is a Geopolitical RP and the world of AWIC, so imaginatively named Terra, would be a regular fixture in Thought Cafe.

Still very much in the works, On The Shoulder of Giants is set in an original Sci-Fi universe of my own making. It is very much a faction RP and the plan is to have it as gameplay focused as it is story focused.

Mentorship

We here in thought cafe is an RP group for everyone, we're gonna have veterans with 10000+ posts and we're gonna have rookies with less than a hundred, but we expect everyone to have a certain standard of writing. So we will put in place a mentorship program for any member who is interested. The mentors will show you the ropes on good RPing, and not just writing, and teach you NS slang and jargon, and RPing rules that your gonna want to know.

A Brief Explanation

The World of Terra is a created world that is similar and yet different to our Earth. Inspired by the Ace Combat setting of Strangereal, the World of Terra is a setting for many of my previous RPs. The original incarnation of this RP group was that of a World building project dedicated to this world and it remains a side project of Thought Cafe for anyone who is interested. In the World of Terra you have Feudal RPs in a Low Fantasy setting, MT/Early PMT Geopolitical Nation RPs, 20th Century World Wars, whatever your imagination produces, you can set it in Terra.

Once humanity fought amongst ourselves like petty thieves for oil and weapons. Now things have changed greatly, humanity faces a greater threat than what it has faced before. Once we tried to make our modern towers higher and higher. Perhaps what we face now, this Reckoning is similar to what happened to Babel in ages past. As I sit writing this in a shack my men are preparing for battle against the Threat we now face. Perhaps we will survive, but perhaps we like the Tower shall tumble to the ground. Hello and welcome to After the Reckoning, This is an rp set in a post-apocalyptic version of earth, and magic and monsters now exist. Most of Humanity now resides in Strongholds, heavily fortified cities, they are extremely massive, many easily dwarfing Megacities from Before. These Strongholds weather near constant attacks from the monsters that appear every so often. Humanity is much the same, but our lives are also different, due to the changes we have weathered.

Humanity still uses guns and the like, but we also use weapons and armor made from monster materials, to defend against and combat magic. After the Great Quake and the rifts monsters appeared, Blacksmiths became a profession that were respected, as they can make proper weapons and armor from the monster materials. Farmers and the like became truly integral members of society, as they provide what will become food for the Strongholds. Doctors are important as usual, but Healers and Apothecaries are considered more important.

For AWIC I don't plan to make major changes to the setting already defined [url=forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=313010]here[/url] except for differing countries. We'll make it up as we go along, Thought Cafe also has a World-building project on the side focused on this world.

The setting is already defined for And thus Spoke Zarathustra and for On The Shoulder of Giants the setting will also be a cooperative project.

I have two, actually. Well, two clearly defined ones. One is called 'Brusilov's Symphony', an Alternate History RP that deals with a world where the Entente won the Great War in 1916, due to the Brusilov offensive being made full use of. It should be about a Europe where empires still exist, where the peace didn't have as dire consequences as in real life Basically, there are millions of deaths, yet the governments have not learned their lessons yet.

The other one is called 'Hubris of Tartarus', about a space cruise ship that crashed while in orbit around Jupiter. It would be a Titanic-esque or Poseidon-esque RP about survival in the belly of a space ship, while the hull is slowly breached from all sides.
