What nation is yours, again? Sorry, not good at paying attention.

But what's the point of having the puppet state? They wouldn't provide you anything. Nor would infiltration, really.

And the moment the military realized the High Command was infiltrated, say, by noticing they're helping a hivemind survive, wouldn't they just revolt and kill all the leaders?

Infiltration of all leaders means infiltration of all leaders. Also, the Collective may want a puppet state to try and gain access to other nations and their leaders, to try and subtly conquer everything. Although, they likely wouldn't change much about the society or make them support the Collective much in the way of opening diplomatic ties with nations and trying to Infiltrate unto other nations. Subtle, unnoticed, and unofficial expansion of the High Mind's power and influence.

Basically, the Infiltrators are the Thonir Collective's deadliest weapon. And it is only 2 inches long at the largest.

I seriously doubt that infiltration by brain-parasites will be a thing. The biology it waaaaay too incompatible.

I have trouble enough trying to get a .exe to run on an Apple OS, even though those two things are practically identical. What do you think your chances are of getting an egg to successfully prey on a completely alien being with fundamentally different biochemistry that arose from an entirely separate evolutionary chain?

None at all, in my opinion. There is literally no evolutionary benefit to be had from such an adaptation.

An apt comparison will be trying to get a .exe to run on a sundial.

Yeah. And proper defenses aren't that hard to work out. Just have mandatory screenings for everyone.

Talkin' bout Hiveminds Jedi.

Yes, but individuals still have agency, meaning that some random soldier grunts could and probably would revolt if they wanted to. And by all leaders, do you mean down to every lieutenant or random officer that only has two guys to give orders? Or just the generals?

That the thing with 'infiltrating' from a hivemind's perspective. They shouldn't be able to consider individuals a threat, and they are a threat to them, so they would be easily destroyed.

Oh, and did we mention that we have, by my knowledge, at least two telepathic races that would be able to just randomly find the Infiltrators?

I might get a not-really hivemind species up at some point. Y'know, a horde of alien bugs which use biotech, live in hives and are individuals.

The Infiltrators evolved to be more virus-like than most other forms of Thonir. For example, this means the Infiltrators infect the brain and sort of slowly turn the body's DNA into some of its own, fusing into it and changing itself and the brain to be compatible, almost like a hybrid of the two DNAs. The Infiltrator can also shut off the immune systems autoimmune responses to it, as well as changed braincells it uses to control the host.

Again, the Thonir's "Producer" forms randomize the genetic code they've been collecting over hundreds to thousands of years, and shit out an egg that results in another new form of Thonir. The Infiltrator was a result of one such mixmatch. The Producers normally produce 'main' forms, but they can make other forms and sometimes make all-new forms based on new genetic material supplied to them.

To fit your analogy, it's like using advanced technology to force an Apple computer to allow Microsoft software to work, or like building an emulator that simulates different software and allows the same results despite being on a different computer.

Oh, God.

Planet is called Nuz Viscasi in Csilean language, and the system is the Jewar system to the Csileans as well.

But we already have differences in naming since the Niktal called it Bilar system and Bilar III, so just call it whatever you want.

Just know it's the third planet in orbit, and it's a jungle planet full of blue people with red eyes.

Yeah, you can force a .exe to work on an Apple. But a sundial? Good luck. That is my analogy, after all.

Things like "brain cells" and "DNA" are unlikely to be universal concepts. A brain is fundamentally a computer, and DNA is fundamentally a repository of information. A computer and repositories of information can be designed in thousands of ways that bear no resemblance to Earth creatures' brains and DNAs.

You're missing the entire point of my post here. Fusing with the host's genetic material is impossible if the virus' biochemistry is fundamentally different from that of the host. That's why you can't infect humans with computer viruses, nor can you infect a computer with E. coli. Both of those things (humans and computers) contain and replicate information, so both of those things are vulnerable to viruses. And yet no virus that can be remotely imagined is capable of infecting both.

Completely, completely different life forms. Even the most carefully-designed lab virus will have problems infecting both trees and monkeys, and those two creatures are only a couple billion years of evolution apart.

You're talking about infecting creatures that come from downright separate evolutionary chains.
