Hopefully makes sense.

Using sublight engines to accelerate to near-lightspeed is problematic, as it would take far too long for these ships to accelerate to that speed (and these ships would also need some sort of exotic substance, like antimatter to accelerate to that speed, and they would need to be much larger as a result).

The easiest and cheapest way to do this would be to fit your ships with a small FTL drive. They would then do a micro-FTL jump, and then come out of FTL at near-lightspeed. The enemy ship would not be able to react in time before it was hit.

This entire sequence would occur in a very short time period (likely only a few microseconds).

That was basically the idea, I just didn't know how to explain it like that so I said near-FTL

I... can see so many ways to abuse that kind of a weapon.

For example, why not get a spaceship to jump straight into the enemy vessel? That would wreak havoc with the enemy vessel's capacity to fight. If the enemy ship can't keep things from jump-driving near it, then I don't see a reason why it would be able to stop things from jump-driving into it.

Cells within your government and military would either be highly advanced synths or men believing to be working for some sort of inner movement, and also, money talks.

As for the lighspeed thing, I don't think a navy wants to sacrifice a dread and everyone on it to FTL into another ship. That, and I'd assume there are some sort of galactic war laws (like Geneva Conventions) that prohibit that sort of thing. Atlas never would have signed that, so they don't care, and they're just shooting thousands of small drones into ships rather than a large vessel. They do the same type of damage going light speed.

Exactly. You can do just that in a battle if you are desperate enough, but like NAR said, I assume most people wouldn't want to be part of a suicide attack unless there was no other option.

Though, this kind of tactic is also extremely dangerous if you are doing near a planet or other inhabited celestial body. If you were to aim a large enough starship at a planet and then go into FTL straight towards the planet...the explosion would likely be large enough to completely destroy said planet Death Star-style.

At the present, there is no official galactic government, and thus nothing like the Geneva Conventions exists.

Fantastic. So that's gonna become a major tactic if we ever get into a major battle. Swarm them with drones that go FTL into the ships.

Looks like the future of future warfare is sublight kinetic energy destroyers.

Co-OP #1 approves.

One problem though: fighter-size seems kinda small for a vessel capable of sublight velocities.

The Empire of the Sun is led by psionic lizard-snake men that would be Autistic, and disgnosed with Asperger's if they were human that have the bodies of humanoid lizards, and the minds of highly evolved snakes. The Tripartite States are three semi-independent nations within the empire, and the Empress is a Terran-borne oriental that got lost in the Uncharted Region. There are the Faerun, found in the myths of tens of dozens of species, whuch are essentially space fae. Then there are the odd, dark-skinned, near-human Restonians. finally, there are the minotaur-like Taurans.

An intriguing, oriental setting is what the empire is, with mysterious external forces manipulating the power-gaining Empress.

May the Sun Dynasty endure 1 million years, may the Empire immortal.

-Base Information-
=========================================================
[SEE NS FLAG]
Nation Name: Ordei - The Empire of the Sun (I just like the name. Note that this is completely different from my NS nation, which is an MT/PMT group of islands)
Government Type: Absolute Monarchy w/a constitution in existence, and meritocratic tendencies for positions outside of the dynasty (the monarch has control of the constitution, but generally leaves it alone - the constitution is also rather civilized, fair, and developed, except for the Sun Dynasty having absolute control)
National Leader(s): The Sun Dynasty - including Emperor Kar’sat, and the Terran-borne, Oriental-originating Empress Dowager (who was lost in the Uncharted Regions when her ship was found) Dowager having consolidated a significant amount of power - Vice Regent Polus Pont the Council of Ministers and their various ministries, the various ranks of Governors (they range from governing a planetary region, to governing entire systems, though only Sun Dynasty members rule over regions and groups of systems), and the Tripartite State rulers (three advanced (at least FTL capable) semi-independent governments that make up a significant portion of the population, and also have a military unique to them)
Population: 865,128,340,917
Star Systems: 33,560 Inhabited Star Systems, 16,410 unoccupied systems that are used for various things, 7,000 systems marked for terraforming (only 2,000 are going to be terraformed any time soon)
History Of Your Nation:

“The Uncharted Regions are the greatest mystery of space in this modern age, for they have been dangerous for centuries, and it is only now that the races living there have begun to crawl out of their local hypermarket, or star-orbiting cantina, and interact with the rest of the galaxy. People have always wondered about the Uncharted Regions, a part of space impenetrable to most sensors until you get there, aside from those made in these lands of course. Referred to as the Danger Lands by those worried of monsters of the deepest sea of all, the story of these lands began quite a long time ago on the planet of Ordei, and culminated with the entrance of the Empire of the Sun into the galactic scene (well, their first official spotting, anyways), the Empire being one of the greatest nations in a part of space mostly empty of sentient life.

The Ordeian species originated over a billion years before the reptiles of Terra did, as the first reptile on the planet of Ordei. It was a small, meek critter that developed similarly to Terra’s into a bold, and large genus, but something was different with one particular evolutionary line. It was the Lost Link's line that would give rise to the Ordeians, the many subspecies, and their enslaved sister species, and they would, in turn, give rise to the great Empire of the Sun.

While I won't tell you too much of the evolution of our species - that being saved for a different download - I will tell you of the origins of the Sun Dynasty that was founded over 12,000 years ago. Their expansion into space is much more recent, and their first conquered species was only 1,269 years ago, but the Sun Dynasty is much older. Born in a time of war, and segregation, the Sun were the first people of the Ordeians to unite their entire species, and lay siege to their dangerous sibling race.

Around 3,000 years ago, they had the urge to explore the stars for the first time, and their advanced technology let them timidly wade through a space age. Then, they diplomatically conquered their first species, beginning the Empire of the Sun, and this being the first time the Empire encountered a species, even if they knew about them before that day. 500 years ago they were joined by the intrigued Faerun, who granted them a sufficient amount of land.

Between the joinings of the Resotians and Taurans, many species were conquered, or joined the empire diplomatically when they saw the sophisticated constitution. Now, we look to the stars, aware of only a small amount of what is outside of the region said to be uncharted by the other species. The only reason we know about them is that lost Terran vessel we captured, and we’ve been in anticipation ever since.

May the Sun Dynasty endure 1 million years, may the Empire be immortal.” - Former Vice Regent Dartorius Pont

-Military Information-
=========================================================
Military Information: The militaries of the Empire of the Sun are bolstered by Ordeian technology, allowing for rapid learning, brain-to-computer interaction, jump-based FTL technology (somewhat rarer outside of the Ordeian military), matter conversion, virtual particles, powerful ballistic technology combined with significant energy weapons, while other things include subatomic simulators, cybernetics and organic computers, replication units, so called Continuum Technology, and advanced crystalline technology (Cry-T is a very broad spectrum of technology). Drone technology is also used, with eight times the amount of living beings in the military existing as drones of some type - this is to make up for spread, and to allow manned vessels to remain where most needed. The Faerun possess magi-tech, but also possess standard technology, though they prefer their magi-tech. Ordeian production capabilities are above average, while the Tripartite States are average, and the Taurans are below average.
Military Population: 25,953,950,227 (spread across three militaries)
Military Branches:

The Ordeian Navy
The Ordeian Marines
The Ordeian Army
The Ordeian Air Force
The Ordeian White Sun Guard (guards government members, and makes up the most elite forces of the Ordeian military)
The Ordeian Research Committee (not counted in military population)

The Sun Empire Police Force (not counted in military, since it would have screwed up the military)

The Resotian Republic Navy
The Resotian Republic Marines (is the marines, and army, and special forces)
The Resotian Republic Planetary Defense Force (close-ranged military force that protects the Republic’s planets - includes air force, littoral combat navy, part of the army, and other things)
The Republic Science Community (not counted in military)

The Tauran Navy (navy, air force)
The Tauran Greyhounds (marines, army, special forces)
The Tauran Eggheads (research group)

The Faerun Navy
The Faerun Marines
The Faerun Army
The Faerun Special Forces
The Faerun Military Magi House

Overall Military Strengths:

× The militaries are all high-quality because they are separated properly, and quality isn’t influenced by the number
× Incredibly sophisticated
× Capable of quick deployments, especially with the Ordeians and their jump drives

Overall Military Weaknesses:

× Separation may cause issues, especially with jurisdiction comes into play. There are also cultural issues, occasionally
× Each military force is a different size, and the Tripartite States have smaller than average militaries
× The militaries (except for the Tauran one) aren’t completely combat focused, which means that they may be more sophisticated, but they aren’t as combat-purposed in certain areas (the Ordeian military is pretty strong, but they still have Federation-like vessels… well, in purpose. They do have warships, but those aren’t frequently used)

=========================================================
-Diplomatic/Economic Information-
=========================================================
Languages: Ordei Speech and its dialects, Galactic Diplomacy Standard, the various languages of the species in the empire
Foreign Policy: The Sun Empire believes in diplomacy first, and war second, but won’t hesitate to conquer less advanced peoples, and elevate them in sophistication. Their First Encounter Policy is to first engage in diplomacy, and gather information as a kind of preventative measure, and to learn how to interact. They are rather bold, though, and the Dynasty members expect respect.
Number Of Species: 16
Economic Strengths:

× Production isn’t an issue due to replicators
× Homelessness and unemployment are rare due to the laws, and technological abilities of the Empire
× They are fairly self-sufficient, but will initiate trade for diplomacy’s sake, and to stimulate the economy

Economic Weaknesses:

× While they can produce high-quality goods, things like fine wine and cigars, as well as other manufactured commodities are incredibly expensive because they aren't made using the monolithic production capability of the industrial replicator system
× They rely heavily upon their replicators, matter conversion, and subatomic simulators for production, science, and war. Disabling of these systems would cripple their advantage, and force them to recreate the standard methods that they abandoned.

National Issue:

× The Empire of the Sun is as dramatic as the Golden Horde, or Song Dynasty at their height. Intrigue, betrayal, loyalty, tradition, change, war, love, lust. The Empire finds itself with the incredibly manipulative Faerun they think are under their fingers, mixed with the endlessly loyal Taurans that know better despite not being the brightest. Meanwhile, the Resotians are ready to split into half a dozen republics due to the split of loyalties with the factions of the Empire. Empress Dowager plots against her husband, gaining more influence, as she is manipulated by mysteries forces from outside the empire. Ripped from her home, the modified human feels oddly at home in what seems to be a oriental-themed empire who’s people are told of as myths in hers, though she has yet noticed it. At the same time, a rebellion led by the esteemed Emperor’s brother, Dar’sat Sun, continues to grow past the Eastern borders.

The issues are endless, as characteristic of an empire of hundreds of billions of individuals, the drama is out of its depth, the dynasty rules proudly and is widely loved, and this young empire of 1,269 years (1,269 years ago is when they first conquered another species - they've been in space longer than that, and were born into a rather lifeless part of the galaxy which is now largely under their control) states one thing as their motto - May Sun Dynasty endure 1 million years, may the Empire be immortal.

Will the most mysterious empire from the uncharted regions of space interact well with the established nations it will find for the first time, will it be felled by internal conflict, one subordinate species annihilating others, will they be conquered by another, or will they continue on as is - alone?

Technological Bases: Mixture, plus original ideas
Activity on NS: I’m on frequently, and will reply to a post as soon as I know about it.
RP Example:

Unlike what Avery had experienced, business lunches had become quite the embodiment of normalcy in Calandria’s life. They could take place for anything - the Panamerican Cartel, or the business part of the woman’s life. She also had other forms of lunches, which happened to be those that were with her right hand woman, highest ranking lieutenant, and the lover she truly loved. This Italian restaurant was quite the nice one, and D’Argent felt as though she could prove a point by buying out one of the places in the city that was expensive, and impossible to get into, much less buying the entire thing out. Of course, she needed guards posted at every entrance, in the kitchen, and in every chair - the place was filled with armed men.

The woman was wearing a black dress with red highlights, platinum earrings, and a platinum bracelet that seemed to glow like the moon, lights dancing off of it as it highlighted her healthy skin. She ate slowly, enjoying the extremely savory taste of the amazing meal that had been sat before her in a rather quick way once she had ordered it. Her exterior, and interior, were calm, confident, and ready for whatever would be thrown her way.

Calandria was eating a black truffle meal, with a very special veal providing an incredibly tasty base for the black truffle. Across from her at the two person wooden table was a menu, and a waiter who was standing by. The waiter had been patient in awaiting for Avery to arrive at the restaurant, knowing that he was to serve the man whatever he wanted. Wine and cheese were her drink, and side, both of which were rather nice, and produced by a subsidiary of D’Argent Enterprises, a subsidiary known as AgriTech. 100% tobacco cigars with the standard sweetener, which cost around $62,000 per box, a box of wooden matches in a ceramic holder, and a cutter for the cigar were in the center of the table.

When the door opened, bringing a rush of air into the restaurant, Calandria looked upwards, and the waiter’s eyes traveled to where the light was, for just a split second, no longer blocked by tinted windows. The Lord smiled, raising her right hand and motioning for Avery to make his way to the seat across from her at the table, her eyes analyzing the young man, interested in the way his anxiety was showing. The way his jaw clenched, and his eyes were wide inspired the Panamerican Cartel leader to have her lips twist upwards slightly, her eyes brightened by the sight of Avery’s reaction.

“Come sit, Avery.”

Species Name: The Ordeians
Appearance: The Ordeians possess powerful humanoid reptilian bodies that may or may not have visible implants. There are over a dozen subspecies, and an enslaved sister species that exists, all connected to one ancestor that was born millions of years ago. The largest Ordeians are dark green, and stand at over 7 feets tall, while the smallest are yellow, poisonous, and stand at 5 feet tall at most. The royal family are white-fleshed beings clad in Riskalian Worm-silk, the finest in the galaxy, when not in their armored clothing that also has a ceremonial purpose. These royal individuals possess many traits taken from their brethren, and spliced into their bloodline to enhance their capabilities. Each of the species has scales, fangs, a tail, and often wears an exoskeletal armor made through advanced Ordeian science. They are rather snake-like, to be honest.
Biology/Anatomy: The biology of the Ordeians is over 1 billion years more advanced than that of the serpents you woukd find on Earth. Possessing environmentally adaptable bodies, they can easily occupy nearly any environment, which is why they often craft their living environments for other species, and not themselves. They possess strong bones, the ability to view multiple spectrums of light, and a sophisticated sensory network. Their blood is an incredibly.light blue color with droplets of red throughout it.
Natural Abilities: The Ordeian develop their telepathic, empathic, and telekinetic abilities throughout life. The youngest Ordeians can read minds, translate extinct languages, feel emotions, and move things up to 100 pounds in weight with their telekinesis. Well-trained Ordeians (most likely specialists, monks, or military-trained individuals) can implant or remove memories, influence actions, manipulate emotions, and the eldest, most powerful Ordeians can move entire starships. Of course, the elder Ordeians are incredibly rare, and most Ordeians specialize in one ability.
Unnatural abilities: Because of their implants, the Ordeians can communicate with animals, plants, and interface and communicate with technology.
Breathable Gas: The Ordeians rely on internal life support implants to replicate the gasses they need, which includes oxygen and argon
=========================================================
Life Span: The Ordeians live to be 300 years old naturally, 780 in their current modified state, and can be digitized and hosted in techno-organic bodies indefinitely, in theory.
Reproduction: (How does this
Intelligence Level: The Faerun are the ones seen to be the most intelligent in the Empire, but the Ordeians are intelligent as well. Unlike Terran serpents, Ordeiand had an evolutionary need for things such as love, but only developed those feelings within the past several million years. They are very similar in their emotional make-up to a Terran with Asperger’s, as they seemingly lack sympathy, have incredibly odd quirks, can be somewhat obsessive, and have muted emotions, but, unlike what people think, feel emotions more strongly, though still differently, from others. The Ordeians have significantly above average intelligence for sentient species due to what are essentially multi-cored, incredibly dense brains, but are a far cry from the sheer genius that Faerun possess as a species-wide trait.
Species Type: Reptilian
=========================================================
Population Percentage: 34%
Notable Individuals: Emperor Kar’sat Sun, The Sun Dynasty, Vice Regent Dar’los Emit, many different government officials, the Great Dawn Rebellion leader Par’sat Sun
=========================================================
Brief Description of Species: The Ordeians are normal compared to other species that happen to rule large space-dwelling nations. They possess above average intelligence, and unique abilities that should really be specialized in unless you want to be crap all across the board. They combine boldness and caution in their attempts to expand, and prefer to keep their warships stowed away until needed. The Ordeians believe themselves to be as sophisticated as the Faerun they believe they control, but the Faerun keep high technology from them. They have dwelled in the Uncharted Region of space for centuries, and are just now coming into contact with species on the other side of the Region’s border, while they’ve come into contact with very few in their part of space.

#Species-TOTG - Do Not Remove, as this is to track all Applications

Species Name: The Faerun
Appearance: The Faerun are a species of pale humanoids with sharp, angelic features. They are known to have light, but intensely colored hair, and have a bioluminescent glow as a result of a mystical explosion in an alchemical experiment three centuries ago.
Biology/Anatomy: The Faerun are completely boneless, but possess hardened skin cells that act as bones. The species is frail, and bleeds golden blood. This has led to their interactions with species in the distant past to identify them as the “frail gods” in their myths, as a result of their portal-creation capability coming long before direct space travel.
Natural Abilities: They possess alchemical abilities, and rather light telekinetic and psionic power.
Unnatural abilities: The Faerun have some of the most developed innate sorcery abilities of all sentient races, meaning they can use any kind of magic (the Faerun usually only know two or three types, since widespread training is reserved for the academic elite) - it is the focus of nearly every major part of their culture, from science, to religion, to education. Their world rests on an entrance to a pocket dimension, which has influenced them significantly, extending their lifespan almost indefinitely. Oddly, they seem rather basic in space, aside from their ability to travel between dimensions (they are in the change from it being purely ceremonial, to it being a new place to explore), to open portals, and should be engaged outside of their star systems if you want some kind of advantage due to the fact that their technology’s capabilities are connected to their proximity to interdimensional portals, and they get weaker the farther away they are, and grow more exceptional the closer they are.
Breathable Gas: The Fae do not breathe, as their cells produce whatever is needed
=========================================================
Life Span: The oldest Faerun lived to be over 120,000 years old, and is presently the Grand Sorcerer of the Sun Dynasty, while their only child is the
Reproduction: The Faerun breed sexually. They can breed only once per person, but they can have sex as much as wanted. The birth of a child is insured as long as the child stays intact, due to natal issues being non-existent, and their technology allowing them to transfer children between wombs.
Intelligence Level: The Faerun are an elder species of the galaxy, and are incredibly intelligent, but their technology is only as advanced as that of the most advanced species for some reason, and they are rather submissive. The Faerun often attach themselves to empires out of habit, now, until that empire falls. They find themselves in high-ranking government positions, and befriend anyone possible. Essentially, they just like to live life, experience things, and are connected to a different dimension that their evolutionary ancestors came from. The Pale Folk are legendary, and love to travel through portals, but despise combat unless absolutely necessary.
Species Type: Extra-dimensional Originated
=========================================================
Population Percentage: 7%
Notable Individuals: President Yukaro Jin, Prime Minister Dufo Toc, the Council of Ministers, Grand Sorcerer of the Sun Dynasty Rynar, Sorcerer Supreme of the Faerun Ronar, the Archmagi Council
=========================================================
Brief Description of Species: The Faerun are an ancient species that developed from extradimensional travelers into a species that always seems to be right in the middle of great empires, and galaxy-wide events only so that they may watch, experience, and feign loyalty. They are capable of creating portals, hide their most advanced technology, and use magic as the science it is. The Faerun don’t fight, however, unless absolutely necessary, but they can be found attached to dozens of now-dead empires as a “subjugated” species. They can be found in high-ranking positions of multiple civilizations, and often know about many of these civilizations far before their patrons. A relic of a storied past, and members of the old guard of the galaxy, the Faerun are the remnants of an age of intrigue, and mystique that the galaxy would be much more boring without.

Species Name: The Restonians
Appearance: The Restonians are a near-human species originating from a colony ship escaping their home’s destruction that fell into an accidentally made Faerun ship, that colonized the Restonian system, and developed their nation as a strong republic. Their bodies tend to have more darker tones than Terrans do, and they enjoy a wide amount of facial features.
Biology/Anatomy: The Restonians possess a biology similar to Terrans, but prefer colder temperatures due to their higher body heat. They enjoy sub-zero temperatures, and avoid anything higher than 65° F.
Natural Abilities: N/A
Unnatural abilities: N/A
Breathable Gas: Their homeworld had a mixture of air that is over 90% nitrogen, with the rest being other gasses.
=========================================================
Life Span: 185 years without modifications
Reproduction: Sexually
Intelligence Level: About average intelligence
Species Type: Mammalian
=========================================================
Population Percentage: 15%
Notable Individuals: President Prime Galli Eris, President Vice Eril Mayas, governors, members of Parliament
=========================================================
Brief Description of Species: The Restonians are a culturally odd species that seems to make up the weird kids table in the Empire of the Sun. Funnily enough, the royal family, and Ordeians as a whole are known to greatly enjoy the presence of the always-refreshing Restonians, and the 16 highest ranking advisers of the Empire are Restonian as a result. The Restonians are pretty average, though. They have average intelligence, average technology, no special abilities, but they make excellent tacticians, politicians, and philosophers because of their personality traits. The Restonians lack the special abilities found in the Ordeians and Faerun, and the strong bodies.of the Taurans. They are near-human, though, but they’re respected because of the beloved Empress, despite how much the Terrans, and near-humans are seen as average.

#Species-TOTG - Do Not Remove, as this is to track all Applications

Species Name: The Taurans
Appearance: With a creator inspired by the myths, legends, fantasies, creations, and past leaders of mankind, the minotaurs of Greek myth were bound to show up in some form.
Biology/Anatomy: The Taurans are large, the tallest being 9 feet tall, the shortest being 7 feet tall, with mlst in between. They have bodies seemingly made for war - they adapt to environments, can survive in space and high-gravity environments for over an hour without any kind of assistance, and they have very dense muscles. Their brains are less sophisticated than other space-faring species, though, and those in command have neurological implants given to them to increase intelligence.
Natural Abilities: N/A
Unnatural abilities: N/A
Breathable Gas: Hydrogen, and oxygen
=========================================================
Life Span: 105 years
Reproduction: Sexually
Intelligence Level: Below average intelligence for such a widespread space-faring species
Species Type: Mammalian
=========================================================
Population Percentage: 20%
Notable Individuals: King Harson, Warrior-Queen Wailo, the Council of War, the Council of Ministers
=========================================================
Brief Description of Species: These humanoid bulls in golden exoskeletal armor are rather basic sentients, for a space-faring race, but their powerful weapons, and borrowing of technology from the Ordeians, a race they love, make them one of the most formidable races the Empire has ever encountered. Luckily, diplomacy got through to the Taurans in a rare event, and the Taurans, which decided to follow the Ordeians out of sheer curiosity, and because they saw their shiny technology, became as loyal as the Emperor is to his empire. As a warfaring race, exploration for the Taurans is simply a result of war itself, as is advancement, colonization, and many other things. Their culture revolves around war, and they see it as one of the greatest things to be bestowed upon them by their Gods, which are eerily similar to the Faerun. Now, they serve the Ordeians, their war fleets expanding the Empire through war while the Ordeians, and others expand through exploration, and diplomacy. They watch the Faerun carefully - with their myths telling of a great betrayal by their Gods before said Gods were exterminated, and the Faerun being similar to (see: the Faerun were seen as literal Gods by the Taurans in the distant past, and their extermination created a warfaring species) their Gods, it was inevitable. They will find out the truth… eventually.

One problem though: fighter-size seems kinda small for a vessel capable of sublight velocities.

Yeah, but still. And you're swarming with sublight projectiles that are guaranteed to kill on impact.

I'm really on the wall, but I'm probably gonna fall off it regardless of what countermeasures I conceive.

It's a realistic, working tactic. It's kinda messed up to deny it just because it poses a threat to ya or allows someone to actually win. But whateves

You just said you wouldn't use it often, so what's the point of it?

Guaranteed, this is the first thing that's gonna come up when you face a fleet several times the power of your own.

Failsafe, mainly. Things look bad, use it to take out a flagship or something. I could realistically use it as much as i want within reason but I'm saying I won't so you all don't get mad

The Ordeians use something similar. They use drones that are essentially FTL-capable bombs, outfitted eith standard slipstream instead of their jump drives. However, they usually don't impact at FTL speeds because the collatoral damage would be too high. A small group of larger drones accidentally impacted a heavily populated Ordeian planet once, and rendered it uninhabitable. I don't think that you understand the amount of energy that is is involved in an FTL impact. In reslity, the planet I told you about might have been rendered inhospitable by just one, fighter-sized drone impacting it at FTL.

Guaranteed, this is the first thing that's gonna come up when you face a fleet several times the power of your own.

It's an "I win" button pushed at 99.9999999% the speed of light.

Also, if you think about it it's redundant. If it comes up where using a sublight projectile is the IC thing to do like in a "This shit absolutely must get wrecked to contribute to the story" scenario, and the other person agrees with you, then yeah, say your damaged ship rams that shit at lightspeed. Because a kamikaze attack in a desperate attempt to achieve victory in a specific scenario is more fun then an arsenal of sublight drones that you never ever use.

For example, an idea I want to steal from a book I read longer ago later on is a sublight bus that sends millions upon millions of sand particles flying at relativistic velocities to devastate literally half a planet.

The impact from the drones is also how the last emperor, his empress, and half a dozen members of the royal family died.

What can I say? Accidents happen.

I get what you're saying but we don't have the same advantages other fleets have. We are completely dwarfed by basically all other groups, and need to develop what would be considered drastic tactics

Anyways, all I have left are the Taurans, and my empire's history to finish. I need to keep the history short, or I'll go overboard.

Synths are synthetic people, right? *Blinks.* Huh.

How do they work? Are they clones, or something? Or are they clones from multiple sources that, as a result, unique?
