Nation Name: The Xaei Ascendancy (Also: The Xaei Ascendant Republic)
Government Type: Semi-democratic Totalitarian Republic with meritocratic/stratocratic elements: The people have a right to vote as long as they serve at least one term mandatory military service, regardless of species. However, after this point, political freedoms are non-existent. There are no political parties or political factions; no favored people, Lords or anything of the like. Local governors are appointed by majority vote via that system's population. The People's Council are the legislative and judiciary branch absolutely, and rule with a very militarized approach to embrace the militaristic culture of the Xaei. The High Chancellor, also known as the Lord-Governor or Lady-Governess, are put into power by the People's Council alone. Xaei and all other species are treated much the same in civil rights: forced into military service, forced to embrace the warrior culture and state, etc. It is much more dictatorial and strict than the Monarchy ever was; however, oddly enough, the people prefer the Ascendancy over the Monarchy.

History Of Your Nation: See Xaei Union history until now; the Xaei Ascendant Republic, also known as the Xaei Ascendancy, was founded after the XRA seized control over the Union's former territory shortly after their killing of Empress Hae'Xen, the Last Monarch.

As of the Ascendant Charter, no sovereign nation is to be invaded unless special circumstances are met; those circumstances being if the Ascendancy is attacked first, or if the Ascendancy's allies in the Cho'Dosan Covenant and (somewhat) the Orso Empire, or Spindle; get attacked or at war with a foreign power.
Number Of Species: Six; leftover humans and Cho'Dosans join the ranks of the population of the Ascendancy as a severe minority.
Economic Strengths: Extremely industrious/agricultural, militarist, trade.
Economic Weaknesses: Not quite as efficient as before.

Also, Pret. No. The XRA's government intends to keep all of its planets, and the XRA aren't going to let anyone tell them what to do with their space. If that's how the Orso Empire plays, they'll find that the XRA won't let them pass just as often as when they run into stubborn Loyalist systems, which kind of double-fucks the Orso forces over and grinds their invasion to a halt once they get to heavily XRA-associated spaces.

The answer to that is always genocide.

But seriously, I don't think the XRA would really try anything anyway. All they have to do is sit tight and let the Empire come and go.

Pret, as I said before, the Covenant will not tolerate you attacking the XRA. The same goes for the Tagali Federation as well.

While you guys may not care about the XRA, the Covenant does, and we have a much greater stake in this war than you guys do.

The Empire also doesn't care what the Covenant thinks, even if they're allies. Xenophobes have problems with accommodating aliens, amazingly.

The Federation will most likely either stay out of the inevitable post war crisis or back Orso. They seem like the better bet.

And we're the xenophobes here!

But seriously guys, don't sweat the details too much. If none of us do anything rash then this whole thing will go smoothly. After the war, of course.

Then, like the Xaei Union, Astra Orso will face the full might of the Covenant's war machine.

If you attack the XRA, the Covenant Navy will be forced to intervene and opened fire on your naval forces in Xaei space.

The XRA's new government, the Xaei Ascendancy, also known as the Xaei Ascendant Republic, is basically a fascist dictatorship. The only difference between it and the Monarchy is that it has a less xenophobic stance and would prefer to expand space through unoccupied star systems, and will only invade nations that attack it or those it considers allies. It is far more oppressive, in some ways more than others, over its people than the Xaei Union ever was. But, on a foreign diplomacy scale, it is the lesser of two evils. Plus it's better to nip the Union at the bud now rather than have to deal with if they decided to invade people later.

Also, yes. I did just make a fascist/militarist dictatorship which could be considered the good guys.

Void, this coincides perfectly with the rise of the Reformers in the Covenant (the Covenant will also be turned into a fascist dictatorship).
