Greetings. fellow P2TMers, you are a pony living in Equestrian in either the cities of Canterlot, Ponyville or Cloudsdale. What happens in the IC is completely up to you to decide via OCC. You may use either a Canon Character or an OC.
The Story thus far, continuing from the prequel...
Princess Twilight Sparkle has become a busy mare ever since the Crystal Tree Castle sprouted in Ponyville. She has adopted seven colts and fillies of various species after pursuing them for their burglaries against Ponyville residents. And of course, she has mediated many friendship, contract, domestic, and other disputes, as well as advising the Ponyville government on local matters.
But one day, Prince Razor Wing, the leader of a changeling colony who hopes for better changeling-pony relations, came to Twilight for help. He warned of an impending attack against Equestria by Queen Chrysalis and her hive, which has now become stronger than ever. Together they convinced the Equestrian Parliament and the Regal Sisters to both allocate funds for the defense of Equestria in case of such an attack, and to allow changelings to openly join the Royal Guard.
The second, however, only would go into effect on the changelings’ good behavior at the upcoming Grand Galloping Gala. All went relatively well at the Gala until Queen Chrysalis’ hive attacked the party, leaving many ponies and changeling refugees dead.
This was not limited to just Canterlot—all of Equestria was under attack. The Princesses and Prince Razor Wing battled throughout the night, resisting the invaders’ advances, but it was tiring. Many cities, including Ponyville and Manehattan, outright capitulated. All seemed lost until Prince Razor Wing’s allies from other changeling colonies mounted a counterattack against the invaders, driving them out of Canterlot, Ponyville, and other Equestrian cities.
But Equestria is still at war. Manehattan, having been conquered by Queen Chrysalis herself, is still under her control. The Royal Guard, the Crystal Guards, and now-King Razor Wing’s allies are trying to liberate the many Equestrian cities and towns still occupied by Chrysalis’ forces, and Chrysalis’ forces are mounting new attacks against recaptured cities and towns.
Many ponies still under Equestrian control, however, especially in the well-defended cities of Canterlot and Ponyville, see little direct fighting. Much of their experience with the war is through the new wartime economy and culture. Food, steel, clothing materials, and even gems are subject to tighter and tighter rations. Arms and armor are being produced in record numbers, and research grants predominantly go to new weapons research. Air raid drills are commonplace at schools and the larger workplaces. Propaganda aiming to galvanize the population against Chrysalis and to contribute to the war effort are widespread. Safe rooms are being constructed in more ponies’ backyards, with many fearing an attack could just sprout up at any moment.
At the same time, changelings are making some more progress in Equestrian society. Construction of a changeling history museum has begun in Canterlot. A changeling fortress, found in the caves beneath Canterlot, has been preserved for study. Schools are reluctantly beginning to allow younglings to sit in the same classes as their filly and colt peers. But private and subtle discrimination, as well as a general unease against changelings, still lingers. The Princesses, who have all eventually come to support the efforts to fully integrate changelings into Equestrian society, all hope that the war effort will forge a greater appreciation for them and their culture.
It has been over nine months since the Gala attack, and though Canterlot and Ponyville remain firmly under Equestrian control, other cities are more vulnerable, some changing hooves every month. So far as anypony can tell, the war will occupy Equestria—and its citizens’ lives—for a long time to come.
IC Story so far:
In the wake of summer, however, the scene has changed. First, the Empire convinced Phillip Blackwing, a claimant to the Griffonstone throne, to join its cause. His military skill helped lead to the fall of Cloudsdale, Hollow Shades, and Fillydelphia in the span of just a few days. Then, an Empire spy opened fire in the Parliament Hall cafeteria, killing one, injuring several, and leaving deputies and senators jittery. Finally, on the day of the Summer Sun Celebration, the Temple of Vision, a reactionary cult popular in near-western towns like Appleloosa and Dodge Junction, orchestrated a coup on Ponyville, killing nearly all of the Royal Guard there and taking over its government, no more than a day after massacring a couple hundred changelings living there.
Even the Equestrian government itself is at a crossroads. There is already talk of enacting a general draft and even reversing the new Royal Guard Changeling Integration Act, as the events of the Summer Sun Celebration Weekend have instilled a new fear among the populace and revived old prejudices. A government shutdown looms as the Appropriations chair has moved a radical bill as a vote of confidence against the Royal Cabinet. All are looking to the next big meeting of Parliament since the war appropriations and integration bills were passed to see how these and other matters will fall.
Of course, there are still glimmers of hope. A new cult, defecting from the Temple of Vision and more tolerant of changelings, has been working hard to help the victims of the Temple's violence, and are planning an exodus of all surviving Ponyville changelings to the Crystal Empire. A number of high-profile deputies are openly promoting a campaign to overthrow the Empire in Manehattan from within, though interest has been slow in the new climate of fear. And even the recent school graduations have reminded the people of Ponyville of a still promising future for Equestria. Time will tell whether these and other small pockets of happiness and hope will be enough for Equestria to endure.
Cities
PonyVille: Ponyville is a small town that is the main setting of the series and the home of the main characters. Ponyville was founded by Earth ponies, but it is currently inhabited by Pegasi, unicorns, and newly welcomed friendly changelings as well. After the terrible Changeling attacks nine months ago, the town has become fortified and heavily secured. All species may start here.
The town has recently fallen into the hands of the Temple of Vision, a rebellious cult of anti-changeling zealots who follow Visionary in the name of the 'All-Maker'. The town is now utterly hostile towards changelings as a species and dangerous to all changeling sympathizers...
Cloudsdale: Cloudsdale is a city in the sky where Equestria's weather is made. Only Pegasi live and work there, since non-Pegasus ponies cannot stand on clouds. After being liberated from the Changeling invaders, security in Cloudsdale, especially The Weather Factory, is at it's maximum.
Unfortunately, though, thanks to a new ally, the rouge griffin Lord Philip, Cloudsdale has recently fallen to the Changeling Empire...
Canterlot: Canterlot is the capital of Equestria and home to the royal palace of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. It was also the home of Twilight Sparkle and Spike prior to their relocation to Ponyville. Canterlot is where large events such as the Grand Galloping Gala take place. Just like Ponyville and Cloudsdale, Canterlot has become heavily fortified and highly secured.
Manehatten: Once the crown jewel of Equestria's trade and industry, Manehatten has become the capital of The First Changeling Empire, ruled by Queen Chrysalis. The city is now a highly unrecognizable mess with all sticky webs of changeling goo all over, where ponies live in fear under terrible subjugation. On the bright side, though, Manehatten is currently under siege by the Pony-Changeling Alliance, hoping to take back the city and bring Chrysalis to justice.
