You seem to be avoiding any sort of early harm a lot. You'll find that effort to be futile in the future.

I'm here! So why does Nightshade have memories from the past?

Well, we could say that we don't know what happened in the skip, between the first version and the reboot. Thus something may have happened and Nightshade is trying to figure that out. Or maybe, and this is theoretical, all of the versions of a person could have some vague sensation that they remember the other versions' memories?

So it's kinda just me trying to personally bridge a gap with Nightshade. After all, the reboot took place after a really sudden stop in the first version, so it would make sense that SOMETHING went wrong.

I do understand how he could have some ties though. The character is already a universe Hopper, and may have hopped once or twice in the SAME universe the other nightshade did. This could actually lead to a very interesting subplot, showing the true dangers posed by dimension jumping....
