These need to be memorable cities. Household names.
The exact nature of who destroyed these cities will be vague for now but i'd like to know if any of you have any ideas.

No. The Knights of America are more like Blackwater than NYPD.
They have more in common with the military than a policing organization.
They are allowed to shoot first and ask questions later. They frequently hand out executions to villains they see as too dangerous to waste time apprehending.

Or you can also just make it so that they're easily distinguishable, by text colors or something.

Try to keep the person that is talking as clear as possible to both you and the reader, put yourself in the place of the reader and think: "Can I understand this? Can I tell who's talking? Who's responding? Who's acting?"
IF they do act, don't make it discernible just because they have unique powers and can be discerned using that.
Basically, you need to think like the reader is an idiot and make it as clear as possible.
Unless it was the main point behind the extract, in which case, go right at it.

You're a good Flutterlands so I don't think you'll have an issue. My advice would be to restrict the actions of one character to a paragraph unless its a quick flowing scene or they're both doing things together. With dialogue, if you are switching speaker, flag it by using the character name again. No hard and fast rules, but I'm sure you've read a book - just do it the way your favourite authors do.

Personally, I would advise against colours - intrinsically there is nothing intrinsically wrong with them but some people use them in place of good writing and correct grammar (and, like I said at the start, you're a good writer, you don't need to use colours as a crutch).
