Gods Among Us
Character Application

Character Description
Given Name: Unkown. (This part of his character the way I first made him. If this is not acceptable for this rp, let me know)
    Alternate Identities: Cypher
    Hero, Villian or Neutral: Neutral
    Gender: male
    Age: 33
    Species: Meta-Human
Apperance: Not even his closest "friends" know what his face looks like, he always wears a polished black glass mask that covers his entire face. His usual attire comprises of combat boots, commandeered kevlar body armor, gloves and a heavy leather trench coat for protection from the elements.
Characters Biggest Strength: Intelligence and methodical nature. He has a heavy dose of paranoia and level-headedness that have gotten him out of many sticky situations.
Characters Biggest Weakness: Pushes people away, leaving him without available allies.

Motivations and Desires
Primary Goal: To keep the world safe from any threat it may face.
Secondary Goal: Uncover and track criminal organizations, villains, and the like, discovering their plans and conspiracies and stopping them.
Fears: Fears situations that are out of his control; he will flee as soon as he realizes that he is outmatched. Fears people discovering his family and using them against him; this is the reason he has taken such drastic measures to hide his identity.

Powers
    Primary Source of Powers: Meta-Gene
  • Power 1: Hyper-Intelligence
Effects: When Cypher uses his powers, his eyes glow amber and he is able to "see" information, patterns, and connections that would be impossible for most others to detect. He can visualize and understand the world in terms of math and probability. This allows him to create chain reactions in his environment that can bring about unforeseen outcomes such as flipping a quarter on a street and causing a car crash (not that he ever would, just as an example). He can solve supercomputer levels of problems rapidly in his head, and he can store massive amounts of data, and calculate future outcomes and probabilities.
Weaknesses: Hypersonic frequencies can interrupt his power and make it deadly for him to use it, however, time is his greatest enemy. His brain is still human when he is not using his powers. If he uses them for longer than roughly 120 hours, he can blackout and enter a coma and, possibly, death. If he tries to activate his powers again before he waits an amount of time equal to the duration of their last activation, he experiences migraines and physical weakness until he blacks out or dies. When he isn't using his powers, he has to lock away all of the superhuman levels of knowledge in his mind palace; a technique for storing information in a mental construct. He cannot access information he didn't learn organically.
  • Power 2: Mastery of Body
Effects: As an extension of his hyper-intelligence, Cypher has superhuman levels of coordination. He has pseudo-hyperkineticism and heightened senses.
Weaknesses: Only work when his powers are active.
Equipment: Twin 9mm Pistols and kevlar body armor. He only carries 60 rounds of ammo to keep the weight low: two 15 round clips loaded, and an additional two. He carries 4 weighted throwing disks, 2 bladed and 2 blunt, and 4 disks with timed explosives. He also carries several flash drives with pre-loaded programs designed to seek out and destroy security footage in the rare circumstances where he shows his face. He also has one or two blank ones for when he extracts data.

Background
Occupation: Has completely left his past life; fully "becomming the mask". He commits minor electronic thievery to acquire money, something he sees as a necessary evil.
Training and Education: He grew up in NC, and attended high school and college there. (All of these records have been destroyed). All of his combat training came from him observing various users of martial arts, and others with combat training. Since he used his powers to learn, he can only use them when he has his powers activated.
Things any characters might know about them: He is relentless when he sets his mind on something and is willing to kill.
    Group Affiliations: Solo act
History and Bibliography: Cypher grew up in a small town in North Carolina. He was completely average, not the best in school or sports, and only marginally made it to a state university. He struggled in his last year of school and fell in with some bad people. He was eventually pressured into trying drugs. The first time he tried meth, it stimulated his powers. He woke up from a coma a few days later with his powers activated. He used them for fun for the first few months,
learning about the hazards that came along with it. Realizing that he could help people, he started doing vigilante work. Cypher scrubbed is existence from the public record, deleting and destroying any records of himself. He cut ties with his family to keep them safe and struck it out on his own.

Summary: Hyper-Intellegent Vigilante Detective

I don't know how well this will work with the rules of smart characters, so I am open to adjusting it.
This is also my first time getting involved with any of the Gods among us, so a short recap of current events would be much appreciated. :)

This is also my first time getting involved with any of the Gods among us, so a short recap of current events would be much appreciated. :)

This power is more about processing information than actually intelligence. It doesn't help him build a railgun it just tells him the outcome of his actions with a very great amount of detail correct?
I want to add a few point,
1. Just because he knows the math doesn't always mean something is possible. For example, say you knew everything about a gun being pointed at your head. Unless the shooter was more that 300 feet way you would need to move 3x the speed of the fastest recorded athlete to dodge the shot. Math would give you the numbers and what you need but something you wouldn't be able to do it due to some lack. In this case superspeed.

2. His knowledge would be limited at the start of a situation and then expand. For example, if I held a coin you could predict that Tails had a slightly higher probability than heads because of the weight. BUT you wouldn't be able to say heads or tails. Once I threw it up you could start calculating the wind, angle and other stuff but there would still be variables introducing themselves during the events. Cars round corners, new villains show up, people have emotional changes. So while he might be able to predict a result to a high degree of accuracy the number will start small and increase as variables become known and may be totally thrown off by the introduction of variable that wasn't seen.

Does that make sense? I want to draw the line between being able to do something and knowing it will succeed and doing something and having a high amount of knowledge about the results.

Current Story
Not much. The Illuminati is still in New York City but the big event is the Knights organizing and deciding what their new teams are going to be. Then there will be a bunch of smaller fights and minor scuffles.

His powers "could" help him build a rail gun, but if he didn't have blueprints, he could visualize possible designs and optimize them like CAD, but he would still need to do research on how they're built, etc and it would take a very long time for him to find all the materials and the machines needed to build one. But that's not really how I want to play the character. Yes; his power is mostly with processing data, but that is a large part of intelligence: processing data, and making logical assumptions.

1. Yes, exactly! I forgot to mention that in the app; he is still limited by a basic human physique.

2. Exactly, again. Now, Cypher's level of hyper-intelligence lets him take into consideration monumental numbers of variables so with that level of data. I intended this to work almost like a short-range foresight. But yes, I expect new developments to drastically throw him off since I'm in an RP interacting with other people. (I suspect there are other characters capable of foresight and foresight isn't always correct, so I don't this would be too different in terms of power level, but let me know if you don't like the idea of it.)

Alright, I'll follow the IC and find a suitable place to insert myself in a lore-friendly way.

Concerning the guards of the knight's fortress, what type of guards are they if they are metas. And permission to break in for a quick intelligence sweep?
We don't use NS stats
A -0 civilization, according to this index.

NOTICE: As of 14/10, the empress has officially been granted greater control of the government, including military and financial sectors. That is all, have a good day.

You certainly have permission to try. I can promise she won't die but once she's inside she has to worry about NUMB who is a handful. Until then she will have a bit of fun.

The guards are human but armed with special ammo for different kinds of metas. There are also fully automatic anti-tank rifles on each corner of the building. Automated.

Gods Among Us
Character Application

Character Description
    Given Name: Alfa Vorchevsky
    Alternate Identities: Vulcan
Hero, Villian or Neutral: Neutral (Chaotic Neutral)
    Gender: Male
    Age: 35
    Species: Human
Apperance: Usual Appearance (When powered up or not he is often seen encased inside his suit)
Face (A large 6 foot 3 man with sharp features)
Characters Biggest Strength: The channelling of his rage as fuel for his powers
Characters Biggest Weakness: His pent-up anger can become uncontrollable

    Motivations and Desires
Primary Goal: To attain a source of physical and/or emotional control for his power that greatly amplifies his abilities
Secondary Goal: He intends to network himself for his search, embarking on a journey in which he awaits opportunities
Fears: His body being encased in supernatural ice and being mutilated while frozen.

      Powers
        Primary Source of Powers: Meta-Gene

      • Power 1: Magma Mimicry
Effects: His body is able to transform completely into one made up of magma and molten rock. He can morph into a multitude of forms through this type of matter. When he uses this power he is impervious to kinetic weaponry and physical attacks.
Weaknesses: Transformation relies upon the emotion of anger. This form can be contained by something like extremely durable thermal containment like his cell during his imprisonment. Natural counters to magma such as water also apply to Vulcan.
      • Power 2: Lava Generation
Effects: His body can generate massive amounts of lava and magma. It can also be empowered by preexisting sources such as a volcano.
Weaknesses: Self generation is not limitless and is akin to physical activity capable of wearing him down. Overuse or misuse of this power may result in, among other things, insanity and physical damage to the user's body as he is generating essentially his own essence.
      • Power 3: Magma Attacls
Effects: He is skilled in the utilisation of his powers for offensive and defensive purposes. His attacks are of a highly explosive and corrosive nature. Coupled with the raw kinetic force behind his eruptions his attacks become a nightmare for any opponent. Relying on the accumulation of mass he can exert tremendous power from his body and projectiles are able to reach ranges of several kilometres.
Weaknesses: Collateral damage may result from the usage of this ability, similar to the uncontrollable nature of volcanoes. The more rage he is in the stronger his attacks which can be used against him as he risks being overtaken by rage. The larger his ranged attacks become the more inaccurate they become. Those composed of matter that is strong and heat-proof can withstand his magma attacks. Natural counters such as water can counteract his attacks though the natural reactions may occur for example explosions filled with toxic ash and other chemicals upon water meeting magma.
      • Power 4: Magma Constructs
Effects: He can control and create tools, objects and weapons from his body such as creating dermal armour around himself or erupting a series of enlarged fists of magma and molten rock.
Weaknesses: Cannot construct complex structures such as buildings and must be able to focus so if he is too much in a fit of rage or disorientated by some external factor he cannot do this.
      • Power 5: Eruption Inducement
Effects: By connecting underground such as inserting his fists into the floor he can cause a great overflow of lava and molten rock, consequently leading to an eruption that varies in scale as to how much power he puts into it.
Weaknesses: An uncontrollable attack once it begins it will cause collateral damage and can damage the underground structure of the ground or the foundation of the building leading to large fissures that destabilize the earth. Range is limited to street size unless he is empowered by another source of energy such as a volcano.

Equipment: He dons a personally-constructed, hollow suit of polished molten rock.

Background

    Occupation: Hero
Training and Education: Educated and trained by the Russian Mafia as one of its first superhuman thugs to enact their criminal agenda worldwide. Then trained by the US military as a human weapon to use against the nation’s enemies.
Things any characters might know about them: One of many brainwashed criminals kidnapped from childhood who were raised by the criminal underworld before being imprisoned.
    Group Affiliations: The US military/CIA

History and Bibliography:

Raised in the cold, unforgiving land of Mother Russia. Living in poverty he was unfortunately subjected to witnessing his parents murdered by a rampaging superhuman in countless cases around the world. Forced into state care he grew to become resentful and harbouring strong feelings of anger toward life in general. As a teenage Alfa Vorchevsky quickly got involved in illegal activities alongside his peers.

Escaping a life in the orphanages with those he considered ‘friends’ they joined a street gang and began participating in the drug trade. A violent encounter with a rival gang was the stimuli Alfa needed to ignite his innate powers in a fit of anger which would consume an entire street in flames. Before the Russian government was able to get their hands on him it his gang sold him to the biggest Mafia family at the time within Russia. It was here he honed his supernatural abilities alongside other superhuman youth in a risky move by a crimelord to produce an army of superhuman enforcers for his international criminal empire.

Due to his power level he was positioned as a personal bodyguard for the Mafia’s top leaders. Serving them loyally for many years Alfa Vorchevsky earned the moniker of ‘Vulcan’ for his acts of brutality against the family’s enemies. Eventually the Mafia’s money-laundering operations in the US came under fire by federal law enforcement. Deployed alongside his boss Vulcan spent several years forcefully putting down enemies and traitors within their own ranks, encountering the American Shadow Syndicate and the Siren Cartel.

Vulcan would finally be stopped by none other than the Knights of America and elements of the US military. The fight taking place in one of their secretive headquarters in the desert the engagement was lengthy and prolonged. Realising after the deaths of his boss and his comrades that defeat was near Vulcan attempted to accumulate energy and self-implode, an act which would cause his own death but the eruption that of which he hoped would be equal to a super-volcano. Unfortunately for him the internal process was far too slow and the once mighty Vulcan was felled.

Ending up in a super-max prison specifically designed for superhumans the former Russian villain was approached by the CIA. Recognising his emotional connection to his power they initiated a process to indoctrinate and hone his potential as a human WMD. Emerging after half a decade from imprisonment Vulcan was an official state-sanctioned superhuman. He was to enlist for duty in the Knights of America.[list]

Summary: A very angry man boiling inside a hollow suit.

Gods Among Us
Character Application

Character Description
    Given Name: Alfa Vorchevsky
    Alternate Identities: Vulcan
Hero, Villian or Neutral: Neutral (Chaotic Neutral)
    Gender: Male
    Age: 35
    Species: Human
Apperance: Usual Appearance (He is often in his superhuman form of magma and lava, encased inside his suit)
Face (A large 6 foot 3 man with sharp features)
Characters Biggest Strength: The channelling of his rage as fuel for his powers
Characters Biggest Weakness: His pent-up anger can become uncontrollable

    Motivations and Desires
Primary Goal: To attain a source of emotional/physical control for his power
Secondary Goal: He intends to network himself for his search.

      • Power 2: Lava Generation
Effects: His body can generate massive amounts of lava and magma.
Weaknesses: Generation is not limitless and is akin to physical activity capable of wearing him down. Overuse or misuse of this power may result in, among other things, insanity and physical damage to the user's body as he is generating essentially his own essence.
      • Power 3: Magma Attacls
Effects: He is skilled in the utilisation of his powers for offensive and defensive purposes.
Weaknesses: Collateral damage may result from the usage of this ability, similar to the uncontrollable nature of volcanoes. The more rage he is in the stronger his attacks which can be used against him as he risks being overtaken by rage. The larger his attacks become the more inaccurate they become. Those composed of matter that is strong and heat-proof can withstand his magma attacks. Range is dependent on propulsion with the larger the blast and the eruption behind it the further it goes from 100m to over 1km.
      • Power 4: Eruption Inducement
Effects: By connecting underground such as inserting his fists into the floor he can cause a great overflow of lava and molten rock, consequently leading to an eruption that varies in scale as to how much power he puts into it.

Love it.
Accepted. But keep in mind all the normal weaknesses of Magma will apply. Water and what not.
You can have him enter the DEiMOS and meet others.

This may be a lot to ask but it'd be nice for a list with links to all the apps of the characters in the thread. It would help to know who's who.

It's not a lot to ask at all. Although many of the characters in that scene don't actually have apps.
I was planning to lay out all the characters once I knew which locations people wanted to be.
That way I could organize it a bit before hand.
So...
@EVERYONE
If you have a character in the Knights and Freaks thread and you know which team you want them put on please let me know sooner rather than later. Also if you want another character, such as one of the various Knights I described or someone else's character on your team say so. I can't guarantee you'll get your friend but we will try.

The teams are as follows
North East Regional Team. 5 Spots. Will cover the whole area.
Reserve Team 2. 3 Spots. Will be based in DC and deal with political issues, most likely to go overseas.
Philadelphia Knights. 3 Spots. Will be based in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.
Knights New York Meta Division. 3 Spots+ to allow all of Serah's folks on. Will be based in New York and surrounding areas.
Letting me know is SUPER IMPORTANT going forward.

Given the nature of my character I was thinking he be an independent contractor type, not really a Knight. Always on call to supplement any team. I haven't said it ICly but he's agreed to work for the Knights for 5 months. But if that's too much special treatment then I'd like to get thrown in with some magic types. I think the contrast would be fun. Finally, if that doesn't work then Northeast Regional, then Reserve Team 2 in order of preference.

The Knights would highly prefer to hire him full-time rather than just retainer.
If that's all he's willing to work as then they will accept it.
They are as much interested in keeping him from being their enemy as they are in getting him on the team.
I think MarK's explanation of pay will help.

Noted, on team preferences.
