This... makes no sense...

And this is why I'm asking about it.

I progressively learned to stop asking.
I just tend to roll with it now.

Gods Among Us
Character Application

Character Description
    Given Name: Mateo Vasarelli
    Alternate Identities: Il Dottore
    Gender: Male
    Age: 17
    Species: Meta-Human
Apperance: Neck length caramel brown hair, bright green eyes, pharmacist coat and dark green pants, he also tends to wear masks from Venice, such as the plague doctor ones and carnival masks.
Characters Biggest Strength: Reliability, calm and pragmatism.
Characters Biggest Weakness: Pride, a sense of idolization of Heamet and the other members of the NYMD plus PTSD.

Motivations and Desires
Primary Goal: Mateo doesn't exactly have any special goals that need to be realized, maybe getting out of the academy ASAP may be a good goal.
Secondary Goal: Surviving, surviving is good.
Fears: Storms, storms terrify him to such a degree that he simply discharges his power explosively and either passes out, or runs away. Beyond that, he fears losing people, whether they be on his team, or simple civilians. It makes him think that he's essentially alone, that no one's there anymore. Such a thing can make him fall into deep despair.

Powers
Primary Source of Powers: Meta Human with cell modifications to go along.
  • Static Electricity withdrawal/retention:
Effects: Mateo, through the help of his cells, naturally draws ambient electricity to him, at which point when he has enough, he can draw it out in various manners. In a day and depending on where he is, as a rural town certainly has less ambient electricity than the usual electric power plant, he may gain anywhere from 5 to 15% of his maximum energy level. That said, he can manually draw on electricity if he's near a source of it. His current max, while it could eventually through some heavy training be augmented, currently is about the level of a car battery, in terms of output. As for his base reserves, it's gauged with his phone.
Weaknesses: What brings the whole thing down is essentially when Mateo runs out of power. When he does, he passes out until there's enough electricity to get him running. Chances are, however, that he won't be awake even if it does. Sort of like a coma, to a degree.
Beyond that, water puts him out immediately, as it completely saps him of any energy.
  • Electrical infusion:
Effects: As the name suggests, it allows Mateo to infuse his electricity in things he has an immediate contact to. Including himself. Infusing certain parts of his body, such as his head or arms may increase their movement speed or reaction time. He could, theoretically start shooting electricity, or letting electricity run on water's surface, but he hasn't gotten to that point yet.
On the matter of heightened speed, it usually comes close to peak human overall, reflexes and speed alike, when he brings it to the max. The strength however is only barely augmented.
Weaknesses: As said above, the power is countered by water, and by general lack of power.

Equipment: A battery less phone capable of tracking his general power left through the battery level.

Background
    Occupation: NYMD Second in Command.
Training and Education: Mateo was always homeschooled, but has a high school level education with some matters being more fluent than others.
Things any characters might know about them: His age, occupation, real name.
Group Affiliations: Mateo is part of the NYMD and treats most that are older than him in the service as his superior.
History and Bibliography: Mateo was born to a rich family in Venice, raised basically like nobility, he soon found himself able to do things nobody else could, such as bending electricity to his whims, something that he almost immediately used to try and help people.
Due to his family travelling, he was often very alone in his house, able to do whatever he wanted without really being repressed for it, as such, he had a very similar education to Heamet, as he was completely immersed into superhero stories, and that resulted in the first time he wanted to try flying.
And the first time he fell in the waters of the city.
Which made him learn about his main weakness, it being water, he also learned about his need to 'feed' on electrical currents

After a good five years, he chose his own cover and became something like the Italian batman, except with less capes and more masks.
During this time, his family discovered his occupations and sent him to someone they knew that was creating a superhero team.
And that person ended up being Heamet.

During his stay in America, he grew very close to Heamet due to the latter's knowledge of Italian, even considering him as a foster father and supplying information, should it be needed.
However, he often goes back to Italy, simply to check on Venice or his family in general.

Summary: A slightly clueless and tormented man using electricity. Masks optional.

Finished. I like to think I made it better this time.

The house doesn't care or know about the power of the people. It doesn't know who will win in a fight but it wants to prevent a fight to protect itself and prevent any good bits from getting stuck inside,

It could hold PB when he was stone but know it cannot, it can actively use magic and the house is a mostly passive force. The house mostly holds mundane but negatively charged items. It isn't in the habit of holding demons just artifacts and relics. It is not forcing anyone to flee, if people want to fight all they need to do is open the door that PB is behind. The house can't change everything but it can guide some stuff.

That help?

Yes. That does.

Despite all of the issues I have with the whole scenario, yes. The house has a consciousness or is it just a big floating magic thing?

Gods Among Us
Character Application

Character Description
    Given Name: Neltharos Utheran
Alternate Identities: Goes by the name Daniel West when walking amongst humans.
    Gender: Male
    Age: 2,453.
Species: A space elf. Or, Eldar. He tells everyone else that his ears are a result of genetic mutations due to Chernobyl, no less.
    Apperance: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/warhammer40k/images/0/0a/Eldrad_Ulthran-0.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20160902185928
Characters Biggest Strength: Powerful psychic abilities. He is also an expert manipulator. In addition, he is very intelligent.
Characters Biggest Weakness: Bad at direct and physical combat. He is more of someone that attacks from behind.

Motivations and Desires
Primary Goal: He is in Earth primarily to sate his thirst for knowledge. In short he just wants to know about humanity in general.
Secondary Goal: He generally would get that knowledge by having human friends...
Fears: Arachnophobia, of all damn things. He also fears that he would never be able to return to his home world, as his ship just got destroyed while he was at orbit with Pluto and he had to eject. Grimdark. That was 500 years ago by the way.

Powers
Primary Source of Powers: Species Trait.
  • Power 1: Telekinesis
Effects: Allows him to move and control objects no heavier than 100 kilograms. He can then use them either as weapons. Or simply as home convenience.
Weaknesses: Requires a bit of mental concentration. Something such as hitting him at the head will cause him to instantly drop anything(or anyone) he was using telekinesis. He also cannot fend himself off AND use telekinesis on a 80 kilogram man at the same time.
  • Power 2: Psionic Storm
Effects: A powerful storm of psionic energy is created in a 10 meter radius, dealing damage to all organics within the radius of effect. Stay in it too long and you either go insane, die, or your nervous system is fried, leaving you without one or more of the sense.
Weaknesses: It cannot penetrate suits of armor, and has no effect on robots and machines. It also requires intense mental concentration and can be disrupted by a small distraction such as throwing a stone at him.
  • Power 3: Psychic Blast
Effects: Fires a bolt of lightning from his palms, dealing damage at a range of 40 meters.
Weaknesses: Not much. The short range is the real debilitation of this ability. However, individuals with high physical strength can go toe to toe with it and fight on.
Equipment: A spear that is kept within a pocket dimension of his. The spear is no ordinary spear, as it is psychically empowered and can pierce through thick armor. The blade is made of adamantium.

Background
Occupation: Guess what? He is a businessman and is a business partner of Bill Gates.
Training and Education: He went to Harvard, no less.

However, back in his home planet, he was trained in the psychic arts by the single most powerful psyker in the Andromeda, Marethus Alatar.
Things any characters might know about them: He apparently has quite a fortune of 10 million dollars. Not yet taken by any lady.
Group Affiliations: He holds allegiance to his home world, which is the Andromeda Galaxy, but he won't get back there any time soon.
History and Bibliography: Once, nearly 500 years ago, a ship appeared in the outer reaches of the Solar System. A small ship, it was just a little exploration vessel probing for future colonies for its empire, but its commander caught a gainly sight far into the system. A blue and green ball,
apparently teeming with life. The ship ran some scans and confirmed the existence of life in it.
Closer scans revealed primitive cities and towns, as well as... sentient life.

Intriguing., the commander would think. He then ordered an even more thorough scan,
and got the ship much closer in order to take a closer look. The sentient creatures looked strikingly similar to themselves, with the only difference being the ears and the lack of psychic powers. Well... Intriguing indeed it was. But not all was well.

Another ship appeared, but it was not of their kind; it was their enemy. And fully armed, no less.
The small exploration ship was no match, and soon enough... it was destroyed, all of its hands dead. The remains were towed away by the ship, but there was one that survived. The commander. Named Neltharos Utheran.

His pod crash landed in a frozen tundra, in present day Siberia. Only forests, wolves, and ice and frost was all that could be seen in all directions. Struggling to survive, he decided to head for the nearest settlement of the primitives; perhaps, they could be of aid. And so they were. With his psychic ability, he knew their language at an instant by reading their minds, and asked for their aid... For food and shelter. Because of his unerringly human appearance, they unknowingly helped the hungry xeno in their midst. From then on, Neltharos would move across the globe, meeting different cultures and peoples from different ages. Martin Luther, Peter the Great, Stalin, Hitler, Zhu Di, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Obama, and Trump; he knew them all, for his species live practically forever until slain in battle. He watched as civilizations rose, and then burned. Kings and rulers came and went, and still he was there.

Now, he is a business person; at least, that is what he appears to be. Bill Gates is a partner in business, and one might argue that he could just be too... Intelligent and clever to be human. Well. Their suspicions are not ill placed.

Summary:A psychic space elf that crashed into Earth 500 years ago. He now lives among us, just like any of us.

@OP pls see

Too strong. All the powers make him too tough drop the telekinesis.
Can't be a partner of Bill Gates and a billion, that's too much to combine with that level of super power.

Yes. That does.

It's a magical phenomena with a minor sentience. It is a physical law that has just enough brains to alter its rules to make sure it can do its job. It doesn't have feelings but it can adapt in very small ways to keep itself safe. If you like I can edit my last post I just wanted to avoid everyone standing around and talking and get us moving again. Please let me know if that's a problem.

Color me piqued. Might post an app, if I could think up a scenario where someone gets absolute immortality (and no other superpower) in a way that's OK for this RP.
Authoritarianism kills all. Never forget that.

Based on the way the lore is written (as far as I understand it), I'd probably tie 'immortality' to the soul. To have a soul and mind so in tune that they reincarnate from anything. Then you just need to justify the bodies you return to if one is destroyed. Same mind, new form. But, your ideas, do what you do.

He did say absolute immortality though. Does that maybe also include invincibility?

Well, absolute immortality is essentially the inability to die through any means.

Doesn't exactly say that you can't suffer without dying.

  • Power 1: Psionic Shields
Effects: Conjures a protective shield made of psionic energy, absorbing medium amounts of damage. Lasts for a minute.
Weaknesses: Energy weapons ignore the shields and go right through.
It also consumes quite a lot of energy and it leaves him weakened and vulnerable.
It is also easily dodgable if one is keen enough.
Equipment: A spear that is kept within a pocket dimension of his. The spear is no ordinary spear, as it is psychically empowered and can pierce through thick armor. The blade is made of adamantium.

Background
Occupation: Guess what? He is a businessman.

One might argue that he could just be too... Intelligent and clever to be human. Well. Their suspicions are not ill placed.

Summary:A psychic space elf that crashed into Earth 500 years ago. He now lives among us, just like any of us.

Edited, replaced telekinesis with psionic shields.

Still has quite a high number of offensive abilities even with the addition of the spear. Weaken the spead make it a normal but alien spear or drop one of the other powers altogether.

Thats okay for this RP but again it depends on what you mean by "immortality".
Healing Factor?
Unhurtable?
Never Ages?

Any of them and more could be gained from Magic, Science or the Meta-gene.

I am also slightly confused. But I believe that he has crafted a magical ward and is now trying to communicate with the house to get it to shift in the way he would like.
But of course, there is also a door right there in the room leading to the kitchen.

Alright. First, if you want to know something about my character, ask me directly through the OOC and I'll answer it in a reasonable amount of time.

Second, it's impossible for me to know about what you wanted to do if no one talked with me about it.

Third, what William did was casting a ward in the room to give the team time to escape. In the same scenario, he actually communicated with the house so it can change its room, giving them an easier time to get out of there quicker. William is capable of doing it, as he theorized the house's nature and mechanisms in the said posts:

The essence of the house itself seemed to control such changes. If they wanted to get out of there, William would need to figure a way to control the house itself, even if it was just temporarily. Running through the rooms, the mage eventually found the group: Mateo seemed to be a living battery while Michael was tense. Filia in the other hand seemed desperate, with a broken goblet in the ground.

Which is justified by the concept of the character, who works investigating supernatural things. Now, with that explained and written, I'll continue to the next topic: Pitch Black's power. Officially, his app says this about his power:

"Powers: Oneiric Physiology: Pitch Black is a fragment of King Kuranes’s dream which has been swept into the real world. As such in the waking world, Pitch Black only has limited magical abiliites, doesn’t age and is unaffected by time in a natural way. In the Dreamlands, however, he is far more powerful, having great and powerful magic. However, his power is now warped and corrupt, only capable destroying good things and creating foul things. He can also enter the dreams of anyone asleep who he can come in contact with, sadistically preferring to turn their dreams into terrible nightmares."

But guess my surprise when I wrote about the ward. Flutter tells me that Pitch Black is also a teleporter. Now, I will try to address this as polite as possible here. I'm reading a long, extensive talk about power levels here. About how the power levels in the 4.0 should be lower, without the possibility of an apocalyptic fight between two characters. That, I can understand.

However, what I fail to understand is the fact that suddenly, Pitch Black can override everyone's powers in a room. No matter how experienced they are, or how many years of experience they had to that point, his character apparently wins over anything, or anyone, and now can teleport through a magical ward/circle, which is, saying in extensive terms of magical lore I'm basing myself here, impossible, because he doesn't even know there is a spell in the other side of the door.

I'm getting really stressed with it. Because every single time a character finds a countermeasure, it's because we aren't taking the character seriously, or it is because we are recognizing the extreme power of the character. Really? There was a huge difference between NUMB's arc, which was a more technological one, and the current (Slaggep) arc. And you know what the difference is?

In the first we could counter the enemies presented. With Pitch Black, apparently even the whole Trenchcoat Brigade, the Justice League Dark or even the conventional Justice League would run away in fear. And this is extremely irritating.

Now, if you want to do an RP where we have a villain who simply appears and is able to do everything with everyone, without being countered by some specific characters, which I'll make an educated guess that only Flutter is able to control, I'll oppose myself to it. That was my move, and don't ask me to edit it.

There is a limit of bearable things, and I'm at the said limit.

I hope my point was clear.

For Christ fucking sake, I wasn't expecting Brookes and Mateo to cower in fear. I was expecting some respect, or at least acknowledgement of a threat. Batman wouldn't have treated the Joker like, well, a clown, nor would Harry Potter treat Voldemort like that...

As for what Pitch can do, like teleporting which I've thought could be counted as magic, in hindsight I should have been more explicit about that. We should have rules about magic as to make actual ideas...

Mostly because Batman doesn't have a mocking personality and Harry Potter was a child when he first learned about Voldemort, who got his name banished from the magical world.

There's a huge difference you're overlooking.

Gods Among Us
Character Application

Character Description
    Given Name: Yue Liang-Hunter
    Alternate Identities: N/A
    Gender: Female
    Age: 19
    Species: Human
Appearance: Despite her mixed-race heritage, Yue leans heavily on her father's Scottish genes in terms of her appearance. She is pale skinned and light haired, albeit short, standing at 5' 1 or 155 cm high. She wears her hair long, reaching down to the middle of her back. It is however, kept short at the sides, and her natural fiery ginger hair is almost always kept dyed in unnatural colours, most commonly dark blue or green, and sometimes a combination thereof. She has a fine smattering of freckles across her high, pronounced cheekbones, slightly narrow eyes, shallow cheeks and a slightly elongated, narrow chin, that gives her face a somewhat smooth, triangular form. She has several evident piercings, ears, nose, lower lip, and tongue, all noticeable for those looking, decorated with studs, and a tattoo apparent on her upper right arm and shoulder, depicting a colourful winged snake, coiling around her arm, its head reaching up to the edge of her collar bone. She has a generally athletic form, with slim hips and bust, trim waist, behind and legs. She favours shredded leather or denim leggings, and dark (or else white) tops, generally.
Characters Biggest Strength: Setting aside her powers, Yue has a truly exceptional singing voice, capable of wide range and effortless timbre. She can growl, a skill practiced in private, in imitation of her musical idols, but a broad soprano otherwise.
Characters Biggest Weakness:Yue's greatest weakness is, quite simply, her crippling social awkwardness and shyness. Despite her garish appearance, she shies away from interested looks, misinterprets social cues, and avoids unnecessary contact.

Motivations and Desires
Primary Goal: Until very recently discovering her own powers, Yue had devoted herself to a career in music. Now, she is unsure of what her future holds, and has no prevailing goal beyond divining a purpose for herself in life.
Secondary Goal: In the last couple of years, Yue has attended college with a view to attaining a degree in music and performing arts. Finishing her course would be at the forefront of that, however any opportunity to perform in any kind of major production would also be a step forward. As would any opportunity to learn her own powers under careful tutelage.
Fears: Yue fears what the meta-gene expression means for herself and her life. This, however, is more of an uncertainty, or anxiety. She is a determined pacifist, and perhaps therefore, her greatest fear is that something about her newfound powers could some day cause her to be violent or uncontrollable.

Powers
    Primary Source of Powers: Meta-Gene
  • Emptiness:
Effects: A nebulous and hard-to-define or understand power. When Yue does not wish to be noticed... She is not. The eyes of others will simply glide past her as if she meant nothing, no matter what she might be doing. It's not that she is invisible, she is simply... Not worth noticing. This power is limited to Yue herself, if she is in the company of another, she cannot extend this to them, and whilst this power causes others to overlook her, it does not cause them to overlook the consequences of her actions. This power can last indefinitely, and Yue is often utilising it without even choosing to do so consciously.
Weaknesses: This power only works 'live', as it were. In recorded mediums - i.e. video or still images captured of her whilst using this power, she will appear as she would without. For all intents and purposes, this power does not fool machines. Occasionally, this can also cause people to walk directly into her, as they fail to acknowledge her even as a physical object to navigate around.
  • Transfix:
Effects: By touching a... Thing. Just about anything, Yue can make it exceptionally interesting. This works on just about anything other than intelligent creatures. The exact impact depends on how impressionable those observing the thing are, but as a broad point of reference, the effected object could be seen as being as interesting as a dazzling fireworks display, or terrible road accident. This doesn't actually cause an item to spark or shine or anything else of the sort. Simply to... Impress people. The power lasts for a few minutes, but will last longer if Yue is in its vicinity to observe it herself.
Weaknesses: The transfixing object or item need only be hidden from view by a strong-willed person, or even just by chance, and it will no longer impress those nearby.
  • Mystify:
Effects: By holding someone with eye contact for several seconds, Yue can cause a person to become hopelessly forgetful and confused. This is something that could be resisted by exceptional strength of will, limiting the severity and duration of the effect, which, in its most extreme cases, might last as long as an hour, and in its least extreme, a few seconds. Effected persons will forget what they were doing, who they were talking to, where they were going, so on and so forth. They will still have their basic motor skills and reflexes, and won't simply walk off a cliff or something equally stupid. It is their 'higher' functions that are effected. Memory, complex reasoning, and so on, that will return over a period of a few seconds to a few minutes when the effect expires.
Weaknesses: Anything that obscures or impedes eye contact (such as glasses - especially sunglasses) will limit or outright stop Yue from using this power, and sudden shocks can startle people out of the effect. Being attacked, or a near miss walking into traffic, for example, could shock someone into regular consciousness rather abruptly.
    Equipment: N/A

Background
Occupation: Yue is a student, relying on a student loan, supplemented by some money from her parents.
Training and Education: (Currently undecided, would like to attach this to wherever the next major plot is. Or, perhaps, the academy in Egham, depending on whatever is more appropriate.)
Things any characters might know about them: The only noteworthy presence Yue has online is being cited as a violinist and flautist in a folk-metal band.
Group Affiliations: Beyond her friend's band, and her college (again, as yet undecided), Yue has largely kept to herself, consequently keeping her isolated to some extent from group memberships and associations.
History and Bibliography: Born and raised in Hong Kong, Yue was born to a Cantonese mother and a Scottish father, her surname an amalgam of her parents'. She showed a great deal of musical aptitude from an early age, listening to a lot of music and expressing a great deal of interest in a range of groups, singers and composers. This interest was encouraged by her parents - her mother, in particular, who bought her instruments and paid for tutelage in them over her early childhood. At school, however, Yue's narrow-minded interests and lack of broader awareness often kept her isolated from social cliques, and for most of her school life, she fell in with less popular groups. She was never disliked, she was just... Never popular, and she learned to accept that, not stepping out of line or into the limelight for fear of being mocked. She was quite used to going unnoticed, and nurtured that by going out of her way to stay out of people's attention. When her family moved to [undecided current location], she lost her friends and had to begin anew, something she found incredibly difficult, all the way up into her late teenage years, when boys finally started to notice her, largely as a result of her shift in stylistic choices, favouring what most people would describe as a 'punk' or even 'metal', look, that drew a certain amount of interest from... Well, those who shared her taste. It was short-lived, as the jump to college came shortly after this late blooming, and even with a certain amount of new-found self awareness and limited confidence, encouraged by the enthusiasm with which her musical talent had been received by her new teachers, and by the fact that with something of a fresh start and a new group of people to talk to. She made a few friends, eventually going so far as to gig with one of those friends in a band. No amount of cajoling could get her to front the band and sing, but she was, at least, on the stage.

In the last few months, however, Yue has started to realise that there is something... different, about her. She started to realise that people weren't noticing her. And not in the way she recalled from childhood.
She grew increasingly emboldened as she started to discover what she eventually realised was her power, her childhood reality becoming an intangible, almost magical skill. At first she would simply walk across people's view in such a way as to generally be in their way. They would walk around her without a word or a glance. She tried increasingly more flagrant ways of antagonising people, until one day, purely as a test, she walked into a clothing store, picked up several pairs of jeans, stared the assistant at the til in the eye, and then walked out. She returned them all later - it really had been a test - but she had come to the conclusion that she did, indeed, have a power. She came to discover the others in the weeks that followed, and whilst she hasn't shared this with anyone else, yet, she knows her life will likely never be the same again.

Summary: Shy metal musician, trickster, deceiver.

This isn't completely finished. I'd appreciate a summary of where the story is at right now, and where it's going, so I can try to accommodate that.

In the same scenario, he actually communicated with the house so it can change its room, giving them an easier time to get out of there quicker. William is capable of doing it, as he theorized the house's nature and mechanisms in the said posts: Snipped quotes

Which is justified by the concept of the character, who works investigating supernatural things. Now, with that explained and written,

Thank you for clearing that up. Its what I thought and it will result in the house helping out. But please don't take my confusion as irratation, everyone describes these magical things differently and I just had a bit of difficulty decoding it. Nothing you should be worried about. Your last post is fine with me.

Please don't feel stressed. I'm sorry you feel that way. I agree with you and Flutter ask if you can tone down PB. He has demonstrated his strength and I feel you are overstepping your bounds a bit.

Maybe instead of simply bypassing the ward PB has to figure out a way through the house to circumvent it. Taking more time but showing he is skilled. Brookes slows him down enough to contact the house and PB shows he can think tactically without invalidating Brookes.
